Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Ah right, I read he was a midfielder?

Even Hodgson has commented on us being linked with all kinds of people and to take the rumours with a pinch of salt

Re: Liverpool Thread

Worrying squad of 25 with 5 of those homegrown really not being good enough if were honest. which leaves you with a squad of 20. Looks like a tough season for you guys, 4th at the moment seems out of reach.

Looking at our squad, I totally disagree with you. I think we even got material to challenge for the title. Now, if some of the best members of the squad are going to leave and we arent going to replace them, then thats a different issue.

I don't see why we can't get 4th place but then there's plenty of the transfer window left and I feel the squad will be quite different by the end.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Gervinho is a right sided attacking midfielder or second striker.

I don't think Liverpool would be able to match his valuation. Scharner and Beattie are more realistic targets and more suited to the stature of the club.

I think Man Utd will struggle this yr, I hope rooneys off form and then u'll see how dependant u were on Ronaldo and rooney. We miss Torres and Gerrard when there not playing, although were more used to that now

City and Spurs have got better sqaud depth to cope with injuries which is where I feel liverpool come up short. I think Europa is realistic or hoping for the possibly of a buy into the CL through coming 5the like they did last time.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Nice reveal that they are in discussion with Tottenham and Liverpool over the sale of striker Loic Remy for fee of around €15 million.

Remy: "Choice between clubs with big futures. I've slight preference for prestige club like Liverpool but Tottenham very, very interesting."

From Twitter. I recognise his name but don't know anything about him. Not sure where we're getting €15m from either?!

Edit:
Remy a quick, rangy striker likened to Thierry Henry. Came through youth ranks at Lyon but joined Nice in 2008. One cap for France.

I quite like the Henry comparison, although shouldn't be going for a stronger player to complement Torres (assuming he stays)?

The difference is we have quality cover for rooney in berbatov, hernandez and Owen touch wood he stays fit. Last season when rooney was out only Berb was cover and we had to adopt 4-5-1 with him leading the line which he is not the best at. You'll see this season that we'll have improved.

Liverpool on the other hand will no doubt be weakened due to the departures of key players. Unless Aquilini replicates the form he showed at roma and manages to stay injury free I really cant see liverpool making a serious threat to anyone. You have no quality replacement when torres is out. Kuyt doesn't score enough and babel is inconsistent and not prolific. You say your used to it but last season you went out of the europa and was hammered by chelsea without torres. Unless your now use to losing I dont see how your more prepared for such a loss of quality

Re: Liverpool Thread

anyone going to bite for this pathetic wum so he'll crawl back under his rock?

Why is it wumming for simply explaining that liverpool lack depth? And simply stating that I think they won't be challenging for honours when the so many fans still believe so.

I'm not going anywhere, I've been here even before you even jumped on the wagon when it was going good and started supporting liverpool.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I thought Remy was going to West Ham?!

Last minute hijack bids from their arch rivals and Liverpool! Poor Hammers.

WH are still interested it says. You know much about him, Jumbo? You seem pretty clued up on foreign football?

Re: Liverpool Thread

No, not a great deal to be honest. He can play upfront or wide in a front 3 so he's quite versatile. Arsenal have been watching him for a few years and last season was his best season so far, he scored quite a few goals but he's not exactly prolific. You could do worse to be honest, he'd probably do well for you.

another failed attempt from a clear glory hunter.

another failed attempt from a clear glory hunter.

How dare you call me a glory hunter. How long ago was it when the likes of yourself were supporting the take over when Gillette and hicks first came calling, sayin it was nothing like the glazers. You were all in with glee and excitement chanting USA USA because you believed they were going to do a chelsea and bring money to buy you some success so you can gloat over United. I'm sure I can dig some quotes out if you like me to prove my point. The truth is you first loved the americans because they promised glory. Yet when you didnt get it you wanted new sugar daddy owners even though they were child abductors.

Where are all the old liverpool supporters that use to be here when things were going well? The only fitting word which sums up these types is fair-weather .

Re: Liverpool Thread

Your right Dagz: I think the best thing to do is to ignore this Satanic Bum Mungler as he seems to think Berbatov is adequate cover for Rooney - But then disregards Kuyt as not good enough by saying he does not score enough goals. In fact the Flying Dutchman scored the same amount as Berbashite playing on the right, where as Berbashite played up front.

Anyway I will (& I hope you guys will) ignore the written diarrhea he spurts from now on.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Actually Berbashite (how mature) scored one more in 10 less appearances, and a lot of those were coming off the bench but I take your point.

He even said that Hernandez and Owen are quality covers for Rooney.

You misrepresent my argument. I said we have adequate cover in berba, owen and hernandez.Berbatov grabbed a total 12 goals which was his lowest goal tally in his whole career. He is usually a 15-20 goal a season centre forward. He cannot get any worse than last season. Whereas kuyt goal record per season is a sick joke that I'd rather not have to mention. One time he grabbed only 3 premiership league goals. You clearly cannot rely on him and babel to take the club forward that is my point. United have absolutely no problems to worry about if we want to challenge for all honours. Our sqaud depth is almost immaculate.

I know it must burn to hear these words from your closest rivals supporter. however I entitled to voice my views. I know liverpool fans feel they have a right to get special treatment but this thread is not exlusive to just it's own supporters. Learn to live with it instead of behaving like victims.

Yes your former player who you use to love and adore before he arrived at our gates and had to suffer abuse and violent threats from the so called best fans in the world. He managed to score 9 goals for us last season before getting injured in febuary. When he is fit he is more than capable of delivering the goods.

Hernandez is a prolific young up and coming striker with much to prove. Don't be suprised when he starts to stand out for Unitd.

No doubt that Hernandez has potential, but you cant say he is a quality replacement for Rooney.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Who knows until we see him in the red shirt?

He proved on the biggest stage he can score and against big teams too, not minnows. He's been prolific for club and country for the past year, he's lightning quick and hungry so if Wayne was to get injured for a few weeks I'd be more than happy knowing we have him, Owen and Berbatov in reserve.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Goals against Holland (friendly), France and Argentina while playing for Mexico. He's shown he can mix it with the big boys on the international stage, so let's see if he can adapt to playing in a completey different environment on the club stage.

Re: Liverpool Thread

That's probably fair. However I'm was just including him in a list of options with have to alternate between. Obviously if hernandez needs to come in he'll be partnered with someone more experience like berba or owen. There is no doubt no matter how much you want to criticise berba's game, when on form he is a threat. The same goes for owen.

So I have no worries. We also have our philosophy of nurturing our young talents through the likes of Wellbeck and Machedaand giving them a fair chance. Instead of completely forgeting that there is a youth acadamy and forking out millions on sub par players from abroad like what rafa use to do.

What are your opinions on him now btw? He was the saviour the last time I was here. While trying to warn the stubborn and blind that he was ruining the club from top to bottom. Are you now relieved that he is gone ? would you now sum him up as another houllier?

He did win them the CL at least. Apart from that, not sure the question can be answered yet until we see Liverpool under Hodgson.
