Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

TitTitTitTitTit you must have watched a different game to me if you think we didn't deserve to win, we had most of the ball and most of the chances even with a dodgy starting line up, plus, who were the 4 reserve attackers? Babel and N'Gog were the only attackers on there, Benayoun's a midfielder and i can only assume you've never seen Mascherano play if you think he's an attacker.

the formation was 3 defenders with Dossena and Arbeloa at wing-back and Aurelio was in the midfield, Dossena and Aurelio played well i thought and Agger was quality.

The only problems we had was when it went to Babel or N'Gog, they were fucking shite.

In the context of playing Pompy, who are utterly sh@te atm, and us challinging for the league the difference just wasn't enough. We've seen enough times this season that creating chances doesn't equal goals so having to score two from two mistakes makes the game far too close then it should be between the two. Obviously we were the better team and created the more chances, but we've been doing that in nearly every game. The difference should have been bigger yesterday.

As for the formation comment:

3 CB, 3 WB, 1 DM, 1 AM (2nd choice), 2 FW (2ndchoice)..........I don't care what the formation was, just look at the personel. It's all very well saying who played decent, and I agree with what you said, but the risk of playing people out of position/different formation was very, very close to back firing.

How the hell you've even been top is a joke, luck luck and more luck add to that a host of sending offs, without that you'd be down in 6th or 7th!! StevieGBH will be behind bars soon as well! Re: Liverpool Thread

it's a false lead in the table as we have 2 games in hand! then normal order will be restored, the fat waiter still believes you lot are title contenders, it's quite sweet that you lot actually believe that, our second string team is 10 times better than the dross starting eleven, dirk SHITE more like!!

so when United won the Sunderland and Bolton games in the 90th minute thanks to a bit of luck, did you think they weren't good enough to win the league? They've struggled in many games this sseason and won thanks to a bit of luck or a penalty yet when they do it it's the mark of champions, when we do it it's because we're not good enough to win normally, i'm sick of this one-sided reporting on games.

back to the players positions, you do know Aurelio's played in midfield about as much time as he's played in defence don't you? Making him a midfielder as well as a full back, plus yes Babel, N'Gog and Benayoun are second choice players but you seem to be ignoring the fact that if Torres and Alonso had started this would have been their third game within a week, and Torres isn't back to full fitness yet after his injury and has looked tired lately so needed a rest. Kuyt had been playing very poor lately so i wasn't bothered about him being dropped, plus Gerrard and Lucas were both out through injury and suspension.

Rafa was left with a choice of risking Torres pulling his hamstring or leaving him on the bench until he was needed, and Alonso and Kuyt were simply rested.

You say "look at the personnel" but who actually played badly last night? Reina made a big mistake for the second goal, and the two forwards looked shite, but most Liverpool fans have been whinging to get Babel more starts this season, so that was a risk worth taking, N'Gog was simply in because Gerrard and Torres were both out.

I personally don't think the team was that bad when playing against a Portsmouth team that were fighting for their Premier League life. Chelsea drew at home yesterday to Hull, noone said fuck all, Liverpool did the same and everyone jumped at us saying we're out of the race.

are you 12 years old?

you're coming across like a stupid little kid here.

remember we beat your first eleven without Torres or Gerrard this season.

Re: Liverpool Thread

looks like the formation was a 3-4-3. If you use the guardian chalkboard thing you can see that.

Rafa came out with a quote a while ago about us having three formations in use at the club:

the 4-3-3-1, 4-4-2, and the 3-4-3

Benny and Babel either side of Ngog. Remember that is where Babel played at Ajax

Aurelio was playing in CM with Masherano, but slightly more advanced. Aurelio has been known to play in CM at Valencia on occasions because he is so comftable on the ball and has an eye for a pass. Thought he was our MOTM yesterday.

His only error was giving away the FK for Pompeys second, but the ball had already cross the line for a throw in before the foul IMO.

Arbeloa and Dossena played as wingers. Thought Dossena had a very promosing game. Arebloa, whilst a solid RB isn't good enough to be attacking as much as the formation required. Glen Johnson would suit the formation, even an injury free Degen would relish that role.

The formation was actually quite attacking, we dominated possesion and chances, it was only made ineffective by the personel up top. This is understandable. Ngog held the ball up well, is physical, has a decent touch and is quick, but he hasn't got the movement of Torres and just doesn't have an understanding with Bennayoun or Babel.

Re: Liverpool Thread

villa are our biggest challengers not liverpool, stop kidding yourselves! you're getting carried away because your title challenge normally ends before the clocks go bk! had spurs not screwed us over the berbatov transfer, we'd b out of sight now! fixture congestion for us (coz we actually try to win everything as opposed to liverpool - a lucky cup team!) and a hell of a lot of sendings offs in your favour - vidic, valencia, hamann, lampard, is the only reason you're top! You've barely had any injuries at all yet we have a whole team out injured yet we're still 1 point behind with 2 games in hand! i wish your fans would see the bigger picture!!

I wouldn't have a clue what players were sent off for teams like Utd's oppositions, says something when you either remember those players or are so bitter and twisted that you research it up on the internet

Anyway...

Ferguson rests Ronaldo, does he get the top story on BBC for resting a player?

Van Persie scores a screamer for Arsenal, then gets the bench the next game while everyone expects him to start. Did everyone give him a top headline then? Nope. The media really do enjoy having a go at Rafa for any reason possible

Re: Liverpool Thread

Dossena has looked more comfortable for the pass few games that he has played. I think he is great getting forward, final ball needs to improve but he can put in a nice cross. Defending & first touch still not so good.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I see Adams got the sack then - thought his card was marked before the Liverpool game, when he said he had full backing from the top. Hope Adams doesn't try management again for his own sake. I think he would be better in a number two position. He was screwed from the start mind, with Pompey selling all his players for him.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Similar to Ince, It wasnt the right job to take, both clubs had peaked and there was only one way to go.

Re: Liverpool Thread

 Harsh!

He's got a dismal managerial record, he's probably better a number 2. He seems like he'd suit the 'go between' role, the guy the players can talk to a bit more than the manager. He's to laid back to be a manager I think, doesn't seem like he'd command much respect in the dressing room despite having a pretty good CV as player.

Re: Liverpool Thread

The FA go on about the respect campaign:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_city/7870813.stm

I'm sorry but I've got no respect for refs or the FA when SWP gets a ban for this but Boswingwa gets away with assault completely.

I think the FA are saying the ref saw it but didn't act on it so they can't intervene? If that's the case, then the ref needs sacking. If the ref didn't see it, then surely the FA can act like they have with SWP?
