Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

What the fuck is going on? Your club is turning into a soap opera.

Oh and Bruce said that Valencia turned down a move to Real and is staying at least until the summer.

Re: Liverpool Thread

It does seem that way yeah. You could tell that Keane hasn't been wanted by Rafa since day 1 really and I think that feeling came through to Keane which is why he has been so poor

Re: Liverpool Thread

It's pathetic if you ask me. The guy's a quality player and Rafa's taking the piss out of him over some internal politics and shit he's got with the board.

He's gotta be one of the most impersonal managers in our league. He's so cold.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Cold or not, if he's not the right kind of player you want, then he just wont work. You can't just go and sign quality players and expect them to fit into your system. Keane doesn't fit into how Rafa plays his teams and that's why (it appears) Keane is off.

Parry out.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Okay I'm confused with all this talk about Keane not wanted by Rafa...why the feck did he signed Keane in the first place??!! Who dosent want who and who wants out?

Re: Liverpool Thread

It appears Rafa only wanted Keane as long as he signed Barry, the two of them would complement the system he wanted to play. Rick Parry wouldn't agree to the Barry deal and paid over the odds for Keane.

Rafa obviously didn't get Barry so the Keane transfer is meaningless to him. Parry seems to have played a HUGE part in this (again) and is the reason why Rafa rejected the new contract saying he wanted FULL control of transfers (in other words Parry has no involvement at all). If you believe the Mirror, Rafa will agree a new contract this week which involves Parry giving up any transfer participation and working solely on the commercial aspect, while Rafa has full control of transfer dealings.

Parry is lucky to still be at the club, slimey horrible thing.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'd say worse. At least at Newcastle the manager gets on with his chairman and the rest of the board.

Re: Liverpool Thread

really though the manager should play a system that suits his players, not pick a system and try and fit square pegs in round holes.

hopefully you guys can get a win today, id just like to see my sisters face when chelsea lose.

Re: Liverpool Thread

How long do we have to put up with Riley?! I would be very p!$$ed off if I was a chelsea fan. Ridiculous red card and then another ridiculous non-red card for bosingwa.

Deserved the win, with chelsea having one, if that, shot on goal the whole match. They were totally nulified again. Not sure Liverpool would have won against 11, but then again chelsea "playing" would suit liverpool better then trying to keep a cleansheet as they did after lampard went.

Feel sorry for Keane, nearly every game he's played he's been put in the lone strikers position which isnt his game. In the two games he's played in his favoured position (against PSV away and a mid table team awhile ago) he was outstanding, scoring two in the league and giving a great pass to Ngog against PSV. I would rather have him, Gerrard and Reira interchange behind Torres and leave Kuyt well away from the starting 11 then selling him back.

Good news if Parry has been told to stay well away from the transfers, and probably worth KeaneGate in the long run.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Interesting that once Babel and Benayoun came on, you played much better (whether it just added to the fact Chelsea lost Lampard or not is undecided).

Just shows how crap Riera and Kuyt are. Kuyt especially was bad today.

Would've loved a draw but alas it was not to be, and now you've got Torres back properly then surely you'll start winning more than you draw.

Still, hopefully five points behind us, though maybe West Ham will screw us over like they usually do and you'll have a hope.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Kuyt was very poor today, no creativity or attacking threat at all. Other than that we looked pretty good today, even before the sending off, and we looked like we could win it.

Good performance and pleased with our overall play.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Reira crap? I've heard it all now. Babel and Benayoun had more impact because of the sending off.

Still, playing against 10 men isn't always clear cut, particurlarly against the top teams. Sometimes it is even harder to break them down. Chelsea didn't look like winning for the entirety of the game. Alex saved their bacon on numerous occasions. Thankfully El Nino got the better of him in the end. And yep, Kuyt's attacking play was shocking today. He just isnt a winger, he cant cross for Toffee.

Special mentions to:

Aurelio - Immense, drove forward at every opportunity, classy cool in defence, never gave away possesion, great cross for the goal

Xabi and Mash really dominated midfield

Stevie G was immense, his energy, linkup.

Skrtel was an absolute rock, pretty darn quick, good in the air, strong, great positioning.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I watched the first half and it had 0-0 all over it. You look powerful but not creative enough. That's why you struggle against sides like Stoke, Everton, etc., that can be just as physical as you.
You gave Chelsea no time on the ball and made sure that it was going forward whenever you had possession. Not bad, but it was a little like blow-football at times.

Re: Liverpool Thread

The Spirit Of Shankly spokesman managed to speak to George Gillette.

This bit is particularly interesting:

“I then went to walk away, and he came after me saying, ‘A few weeks ago, we were in first position, then a certain individual from the club attacked another individual from another club, and, since then, we have lost form and slid down the league.’

“I was stunned, and asked if he was blaming Benitez as a result, and in saying that, was he not backing the manager?

“Rather than confirm or deny as I expected, he replied ‘that’s your implication’, before I walked away and back outside to the real world.”
