Liverpool Thread

Ian Ayre wasnt there on transfer of Mignolet . Rumors say that he's meetng Mkhitaryan on London and having a deal with ?

I really hope so it would be exiting to get this guy , also maybe Micha Richards seems on his way out from City , maybe we'll get him too ? it would be great I really rate him !

oh and Suarez has been asked about opportunity to play under Ancelotti on Real Madrid and he answered "I dont know yet , it would be a pleasure"

More top-class journalism from the Daily Star today...

Headline: STEVEN GERRARD: MANCHESTER UNITED MAY STRUGGLE UNDER DAVID MOYES

Opening: "LIVERPOOL skipper Steven Gerrard has cranked up the heat on David Moyes"

Actual quote: “It is new for Manchester United. From a biased point of view, let’s hope they have a wobble, but I think they have too many good players to fall out of the title race. They have world-class players and I expect them to fight for the league again.”

Unbelievable how they get away with stuff like this. He's speaking honestly as a Liverpool fan and says he hopes they have a wobble but in reality expects them to be fighting for the title again.

How do you get from "I expect them to fight for the league again" to "United may struggle" ffs

No idea, Ive seen very little of him so I wouldnt dare to make an opinion like that but I love the qualities the people are saying he has though. It is just the kind of player I go crazy for.

we can afford it thanks to Carrol sale that was good for us, but i think we will sell other players...

i think next to leave the club will be those:

Jonjo Shelvey
Pepe Reina (not 100% sure)
Oussama Assaidi
Sebastián Coates
Martin Škrtel (not 100% sure)
Daniel Pacheco
Jay Spearing
Luis Suarez (not 100% sure)

Shelvey - Not a huge loss imo, I always thought he was a thug before a footballer, apparently Swansea want him.. it would be sad to see him ruining their football imo.

Reina - Can walk into most teams in the world, so if you do sell at least you can get a great price for him.

Assaidi - Ermm...

Coates - Never get a proper chance, I thought given the retirement of Carragher he'd be given the chance to step up to the bench at least.. maybe a loan deal?

Skrtel - Too good on his day to risk selling now surely?

Pacheco - Probably returning to Spain, did he not spend last year there?

Spearing - I actually thought you'd already sold him to Bolton..

Suarez - Take the money and run, his ego is spinning out of control by the sounds of things and if he is so dead set on leaving for Madrid then let him! £50m can buy you the world given Rodgers keen eye in the market, just imagine him with £50m, thats another 5 Coutinhos!

agree on your thoughts but we need to invest in a proper CB who could start with Agger or Skrtel.. Toure isn´t enough.. Coates didn´t impressed Rodgers apparently, but Rodgers said to Skrtel (i read in slovak interview) that he played Carra becouse he didn´t wanted to risk matches and that Carra was a big leader and had good effect on team and managing the defence... so i hope we get another Carra, a leader and vocal player, who would be dominant in defence..simply a captain material CB... i know Agger is one..but i´m not so sure knowing his mentality, he is more a silent type.

If you can Toure to be the player he was at Arsenal then he can be the Carragher type, but he's a shadow of that man and I don't think it can happen.
Agger would be the guy, but as you said he's too silent and seems to focus on his task before the team, maybe being captain would be too much responsibility for him to truly play to his potential.

Brendan Rodgers is a huge fan of Ashley Williams, and he is certainly a leader as he has shown by captaining Swansea for years, however I doubt his quality in comparison to a team like Liverpool who by all rights should be top 4 again within three years.

Sadly, I can see Liverpool eventually overtaking United as a top 4 teams.. All depends on next year, United decline and Liverpool rise?

Williams imo is out of question since we bought Toure... i think the club wanted to replace Carra with an older experienced player, and Toure fits this, but we won´t spend a lot on another older defender, we go after a young one definetly... in age 23 - 25 imo.

Liverpool rivals are not United, but Everton, Arsenal, Tottenham. United, City and Chelsea are not yet our rivals in PL. Our main rival though is consistency.

now German newspaper Bild says Mkhitaryan its player of Dortmund ...!?

I'm really afraid since this newspaper its right about many transfer special those of Dortmund and Bayern!

I know Borussia put in a £19.5m bid that was rejected earlier in the week, and Shaktar basically said the first team to reach their valuation (£25m according to a lot of papers) would get him, maybe they matched it before Liverpool?

I'm not.

We have proven we have some quality attacking players. We need some strong defenders.
How have we proved that exactly ? Henderson seems to get a lot of love nowadays in Liverpool forums but apart from his hard work and some good positioning he hasnt got much to offer. Downing same case, not good enough if Liverpool wants to aspire to big things. So that leaves from last season Gerrard, Coutinho, Sturridge and Suarez that is leaving.
We ve added to that Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas (probably going to take Downing and Henderson roles) and looking to add an another attacking midfielder (then Coutinho will probably be the attacking midfielder playing on the left).
In defense we added Kolo Toure, I dont know how he is, considering we have ex Manchester City scouts on the payroll I guess we know a lot about it. And looking to add one more CB.

I think we have enough in the ranks to cope, attacking wise. Especially seen as we seem to prefer just one striker and two wide men.

We've also got Sterling to come good and Suso, remember.

We are weak at the back, I think we need some more steel.

TRAINING PICS from today!!!

Can´t wait for the season start already.

btw, Rodgers looks like he lost some weight..

and i have officialy man crush on Gerrard. :CONFUSE:

So Shelvey is off to Swansea for 6M. Bad deal in my opinion. In 3-4 years when he is one of the best creative midfielders in the league and all the big clubs are after him, we are going to wonder why we let him go.
We should at least be putting a buy-back clause on him.

Or in one season when he's finished attacking half the players in the league with those assaults he calls tackles you can realise it was for the best.
