Ligue 1

Re: Ligue 1 Orange "Coupe de France : OM 1 - 2. PSG"

Hope none of you guys are missing the big match!!

Lyon may have already clinched the title but this match for them against Les Verts will always mean a lot and that's why despite every Lyon player having painted their face/hair even eyebrows lol in funky red and blue colours, they're not treating this lightly and have really turned on the style in first half and are up 2-0 so far with some good football being played.

First goal came very early on and David Hellebuyck was unfortunate got the last touch for an own goal but the 2nd one was a well taken and another good finish from Fred who is really in good form now with season coming to a close and is now very much the preffered choice it seems over Carew after battling it out for almost whole season with no clear winner until recently.

Hopefully you guys aren't missing it because the entertainment value of this game has been huge!!!!!!!! Not only is good football being played but it's almost like a party there with really cool celebrations  , players spraying those white things (I don't know the name in English sorry :p ) when scoring and basically the coloured faces/hair just adds a lot to it.

Gerrard Houllier has resisted though and thank god for that! , but everyone else even on bench has the funky colours!

Re: Ligue 1 Orange "Coupe de France : OM 1 - 2. PSG"

Another exceptional performance from a super exceptional team!

And Lyon's goal celebrations just get better and better!

That Fred and Cris celebration was amazing the way Cris kept pushing and punishing Fred as if it was his child :lmao:

Re: Ligue 1 Orange "Strasbourg, Ajaccio & Metz in Ligue 2"

Julien Sable is awesome! 8)

Remember I talked about him ages ago too ;)

Anyways Thomas or Tuta can you give us a bit more info on Lyon's new sponsorship deal?

I heard it's $45M for 5 years that means roughly $9M per year which isn't bad at all!

This club is GOING places and thank god to have a French team finally who is already among the European's best and will get better and better each year. I heard they're thinking of a new stadium already with capacity around 65000!

Barca/Juve/Bayern/All European heavyweights.. better watch out!!! There's been an emergence of a new European powerhouse in past few season by Lyon and it looks like it's not going away soon!! Just gonna get bigger and bigger each season until in a decade, we'll probably have the new casual fans of THEN look at Lyon/Barca/Chelsea/Bayern/Juve a and rest in almost same way and not slightly below as some casual fans still do today.

Takes time though for them to realize such things so I don't blame them but as long as Aulas is in charge and his ambition doesn't die, this club's going somewhere ;)

Re: Ligue 1 Orange "Strasbourg, Ajaccio & Metz in Ligue 2"

Lyon have announced a new 5 year sponsorship deal with the worlds largest hotel group, Accor. The logos of subsidiary companies Novotel will appear on Champions League jerseys, and Ticket Restaurant on Ligue 1 jerseys.

Novotel will pay 6m euros, Ticket Restaurant will pay 3m and Umbro 6m. Making a total of 15m euros per season, significantly higher than the 10m current deal with Renault Trucks and LG.

Aulas has hailed the arrival of a truly global brand, who will help the club a lot. Linked to this is the new stadium to be built by Lyon, which is likely to feature hotels and a commercial zone.

Novotel looks good, TICKET RESTAURANT sucks but that's no big deal as long as you get the money.

Pfff this is the only and last time I go to see a match against Paris.

I'm so angry right now. I want to break everything.
Paris is a lucky poor team, Marseille lose the game by itself.
It's impossible to play as bad as OM did tonight.

Come on, they dominated the first half doing variations. Without Taiwo's error it was a full 1st HT. Mendy is a fucker, he can do fouls, "kill" Pagis and he isn't booked ? And almost Ribery, luckily he jumps a lot to avoid tackles.

After the 2nd goal, Marseille was completly lost during 20 minutes. We did hard tackles... Paris could have scored 3 more goals with our help. Our defenders gave all the balls directly to their forwards, I can believe it.

mendy is fucker?? Seem you have a short memory, maybe you forgot the way barthez "killed"kalou 6 months ago?It was a straight red card but ref didn't give it because it was his come back
poor team??OK if you want we are a poor team who beat you(you the great Olympique de Marseille) and won the Cup8)
anyway maybe you will win something next year aaaaa lol

Re: Ligue 1 Orange "Strasbourg, Ajaccio & Metz in Ligue 2"

Frei is back!!

He helped the Rennes reserve side to a 2-1 victory over Pontivy with two goals to his name.

He will now be available for Rennes' final 3 league games against PSG (H), St-Etienne (A) and Lille (H). \\:o/ :D the Lille one may turn out to be the match which decides who gets the final UCL place \\:o/

Re: Ligue 1 Orange "Strasbourg, Ajaccio & Metz in Ligue 2"

Poor Strasbourg :( from what i heard they didnt deserve to be relegated, but if you dont grab the points this is the consequence...

Interested to see what will happen to some of the better players, so keep us up-to-date french peeps.

Re: Ligue 1 Orange "Strasbourg, Ajaccio & Metz in Ligue 2"

What a goal by Bellion. 8)

Re: Ligue 1 Orange "Strasbourg, Ajaccio & Metz in Ligue 2"

@Roti, thanks for that bit of info! $15M per year is great makes the team go forward more and more each year while PSG and OM fans are fighting with each other and dissing each other!

Lyon fans must be loving this :lmao:

Well kinda mate.

I mean I was one of those who like many others said "Poor Strasbourg" and how they've been unlucky not to get points from some matches and injuries and suspensions and etc. etc.

And it's all true but at the end of the season when you're looking at table now and you see a huge gap in points between 3rd last (them) and 4th last (Troyes I believe at moment) you see that Troyes quite clearly at end of the day did better and so now I will say they deserve to stay up and sorry RCS :( (Hopefully be back next year)!

And next year the freakin crappy Corsican derbies can be saved for Ligue 2 cuz Bastia hasn't come up and Ajaccio is relegated! \\:o/

You always try to inflame discussions using a poor humour. There's no problem losing against Paris. Our season was great, losing this game doesn't make us weak. Football is not an exact science and it's not always the best who wins. So now maybe you can think a little before answering and try to focus on this game and recognize that this decision changed everything and most of all Marseille's spirit. Thx.
And about Barthez, nothing to do with the finale. Why do you want to argue about it ? If you think of compensation, your search list may be longggggg.
Remembering the past decisions is useless. It's bad if no one moves on.
;)

Re: Ligue 1 Orange "Strasbourg, Ajaccio & Metz in Ligue 2"

Penalty for me, Mendy don't play the ball ;)

Re: Ligue 1 Orange "Strasbourg, Ajaccio & Metz in Ligue 2"

I never said Oruma didn't deserve a red card. He deserved one for a second yellow. The problem isn't to know if there is penalty or not.
There was 20 minutes played, everything could happened (right or wrong). But since that moment, the attitude of Marseille changed (more aggressivity, hard tackles, and it never happened in games before the finale).
There was a foul, you can check (again) the video. Mendy didn't play the ball (trying to do opposition) and even if it was unvoluntary, there is contact. Clichy's foul against Villareal was less blazing and the PK was normal for everybody.

ok maybe it was a penalty if you want but did you watch "les spécialistes" yesterday on canal plus sport??
They showed again and it was an offside!!! even me i didn't believe it, from the departure of the ball pagis was cleary offside
so there was 2 mistakes by the refs!!!
