GTA IV - SPOILER THREAD!!

My missus wouldnt touch this - I let her have a go on GT5p with the steering wheel etc and she was pootling around.

She got the hang of it in the end and started putting in some decent times round London, so I had to kick her off.

She then demanded they release a 'Driving Miss Daisy' game so she can play it at her own pace... :LOL:
 
It would be nice to play a girlfriends vs. boyfriends one day... I will try online after midnight. And probably letting her play online too and scream through the micro. She got violent when tried Assassin's Creed and went on to murder half of the initial town pressing buttons like a mad, climbing houses randomly and jumping down again into the hordes of soldiers. Great fun.

That wasn't what I was talking about.

If you play the 360 version without your HDD attached then the game cannot cache so you have texture pop-up issues, as long as your HDD is attached then the game caches to HDD and you have no texture pop-up or other performance issues.

Yeah but still only a few, I've driven past dozens of restaurants, burger joints, pharmacies, 7/11's and you can't go into any of them, it's really shit when you need to buy some food/drink cos your health is really low and you have to either drive randomly round and round looking for a hot dog vendor or drive all the way to one of the few fast food places you're "allowed" to go into, I'd have to say this is the most disappointing aspect of the game for me, even GTA:SA seemed to offer far more places you could go inside as I recall.........

we have just been having a laugh by climbing the towers armed with a sniper rifle and shooting cars from distance and i mean distance, then waiting for the choppers to come and sniping the pilot :))

but we also had to watch out for the coppers climbing the massive ladder to get to us but thats where the shotgun came in handy :LOL:

Good for the PS3 as it wont mess achievements or anything like that up --- though i wonder if it will do the 'if you use this cheat you cannot gain 100%'

I honestly don't think they will mess up your game... I've cheated on all the GTA's at some point after completion, then I've gone and saved it even though it's given me a warning not to and it's never messed up except for the Rioting pedestrians one which you can't turn off so they do it forever and obviously you don't save. Are these Xbox or PS3 by the way?

I'm pretty sure the cheats won't mess up your game, there is a stat in the menu that counts that amount of time cheated.

Was online last night and it's excellent, free roam with 16 people.

Got a little hectic!

Some more cheats some the same some different. I always cheat just before swithching off. Have a rampage then turn off without saving.

While playing the game, press Up to display Niko's cellphone. Press Up again to access the keypad. Then, enter one of the following codes to activate the corresponding cheat function. Once a code has been entered correctly, a new "Cheats" menu option will be available on your phone, below "Options", where you can access the cheats without having to enter the phone number again. Note: Do not save the game after enabling a code to avoid unforeseen problems. Enabling some cheats may prevent achievements from being earned.

Full health

Easy money
Go to an ATM, then cause a traffic jam to the area. Wait for someone to take money from the ATM, then kill him or her. Make sure to block any nearby roads so the ambulance cannot get to the murdered victim. Take the money they dropped on the ground. Then, run a short distance away, and go back. The money should have respawned on the ground. You can repeat this as many times as desired. Repairing engine
If the vehicle you are driving breaks down and the engine will not start, call 911, and your engine should start again.

Avoiding toll booths
Drive through any toll booth with any emergency vehicle with the sirens on. The booth attendant will open the gate, and you will save $5.

$100 for all ringtones and themes
After getting the phone from Playboy X, go to the nearest Internet cafe. Buy all of the ringtones and themes from the ringtones site. Log out of the computer, and you will notice that you only paid $100 for all ringtones and themes.

Had a quick go of the Online this morning - 'Cops n Crooks'

Think it will be one you need to play with Friends - spent a lot of time wandering around trying the find the crooks.

Was cool though - cannot wait to try Free-Roam deathmatch :LOL:

Love the game (obviously). The detail is fantastic and it's full of little wondrous moments to cherish and do over and over again. Niko's voice is well funny, he's already a legend.

I went on Free-Roam last thing before bed and there was only 3 of us, and I must say I excelled myself, my jungle-like climbing abilities whilst firing off some particularly long-range rockets (oo-er) made me close to intense moisture, and I won.

Just got in a taxi and heard a radio interview with Ricky Gervais!! :LOL: He is in character (so dont know if it is 'Gervais' or he has a game name) and talking about other game characters and Liberty City.

Fucking brilliant! The Radio & TV are class - they had a piss-take of the World Series of Poker on the TV this morning. So much depth... hats off to R*.
 
How do I get in a cab? I've just been told to press LB to hail it but no cabs pull over?

Think one has to be in sight - and it only works in the game once you've been shown/told by the prompt in the top left.

Once one pulls over, hold down (rather than tap) triangle (erm... yellow?) to get in the back.

Taxi rides are class :D
