Posted by adamcs at 23:40. Category: General
Word has reached us that the next wave of online previews are due to arrive before the end of the month. Kikizo, GameSpot, IGN, GamesRadar, CVG, and 1UP will all pay a visit to Rockstar Games this week to preview the latest build of GTA IV. We will post more details as soon as they become available to us.
If you are unfamiliar with the format of these previews, check out some of the previous ones from July. These previews will also contain new screenshots.
(UPDATE) the date for these previews appears to be January 23rd, which is next Wednesday. More details to come soon.

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV

I can't wait for this - I have never finished a GTA game - I have got them all at some point.

The last one I hated all that eating and going to the Gym shit.

I always get bored and just start driving off cliffs and stuff and killing people and seeing how long I can outrun the police.

But this looks really good - I can't wait to just drive around the place!

Hopefully they get it spot on though - I hope they don't rush it out when its not complete.

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV

I'm the same Bobby, I buy them all but get bored quickly. The missions are always very childish to me - like racing them little remote-control buggys.

This looks like the best one yet though.

New 4 page preview with screens

Game is "virtually complete" according to Rockstar and is 3 months from release so sounds like theres no delay.

This bit sounds great :D

With the mission successfully completed, we were then shown some more of the attributes of the seemingly integral phone. Managing friendship levels will play a key part to the new GTA experience and to maximise the potential of your relationships within the game it's vital to keep people sweet. We were re-introduced to Roman, Niko's cousin, by simply calling him up, at which point we had the option to take him bowling, play pool, take him to a cabaret or just for a simple tipple. Given the time constraints of our demonstration we decided to meet Roman for a drink. What followed, however, was one of the most down-right funny scenes we've ever witnessed in gaming.

Having activated the friendship side mission, we had a few minutes to pick up Roman and drive him to the bar. It's worth noting that you don't actually have to complete these missions once they've been started, but if you decide you can't be bothered to socialise it's best to call and let them know, otherwise they'll be noticeably off towards you next time you hook up.

Eventually we reached a nearby watering hole, Bar Perestroika, which was highlighted on the map by a cocktail glass icon. Choose to go bowling or play pool and you actually compete in a mini-game, but head to a bar and the scene cuts straight to the chase of the after-effects of a skinful, with Niko and Roman falling out of the bar, barely able to walk. Here the full implications of the new Euphoria physics engine and skeletal models could be witnessed in the most humourous way possible, as the pair stumbled over themselves, falling over each other and putting out a steadying hand on nearby objects. At one point Niko attempted to upright himself on a parked car, misjudged and fell flat on his back in the gutter, while muttering drunkenly to himself. The characters all react accordingly to each other, and this extends beyond the main cast. While driving about Liberty City we noticed non-playable characters had been blessed with astounding little flourishes – at one point a car collided with a pedestrian at low speed, and they extended an arm and steadied themselves before moving on.

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV

You can call up your mate and take him for a game of pool, or a pint, great :)
I wonder if you can call someone up for a game, then beat him to death with a pool cue if he wins.
I'd call up all my friends one at a time then kill them one-by-one using different methods.
Then maybe have a punt at the bookies with all their money.

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV

Official Release date 29/04/08 as per mailing propaganda from Rockstar

Yeah, it looks like Rockstar have finally given us a date for it. The 29th of April will be marked in a lot of peoples calendars

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV

I will definately buy this game - it's always great to pick-up-and-play even if the story doesn't deliver (although I'm sure it will.)

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV

I, like you Mike hope they improve the quality of the missions that you do... some of the Comical ones are good fun but some are just plain Childish and if you were a villain like some of these characters were you wouldnt do things like that..... Send a little remote controlled Plane above some ships and drop bombs on them .. lol

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV

Yeah DJ is right, I want serious missions not "drive the little remote control buggy through the beach to deliver a parcel" bollocks.
