Gran Turismo 5

[/SPOILER]

Clearly Bobby you have never had a big prang, phenomenal it ain't, better it is...:PIRATE: :P

The problem here is that the pilot's living space doesn't seem to be affected by damage deformation at all, it's just the front and the rear of the car.

Case in point being the fact that the I have yet to see a shattered glass.

Also, I really hope that the damage model is dynamic and not a "the more you crash, the more damage will be shown regardless of where and how you've crashed" deal.

Let's just wait and see, I'm just wondering why the people who took those screenshots didn't make a video instead...

5th of November in the UK, I think it may be out on the 2nd in the USA though, or maybe it's worldwide release on the 5th.

looking at the 3 deformed pictures of the 458 italia i think you can make out that it is dynamic damage - the car crumbles in different "directions", don't think this could be achieved with just 3 or 4 levels of pre-modeled damage.

Did you play the game? Can't really tell from those videos.

Still, totalling the car seems way too hard, hopefully you can tweak the amount of damage through sliders.

No of course not. The demo is in Best Buy which happens to be in the US while I live in the UK. It was however confirmed by those who did play it over at the GT Planet forums as well as at NeoGAF.

Wish that was real life, 150MPH in to barriers and you just need T-cut...

Wow. That's shocking, isn't it?

First comment on the video;

Gran Turismo brainbox Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed some of the new tracks and cars you'll find in the fifth instalment of the series.

Speaking during a session at the Tokyo Game Show, Kazunori confirmed that the Laguna Seca circuit will return in GT5 - but of course, it's been completely rebuilt for PS3.

Also returning will be Trial Mountain. Plus, you'll be able to drive around Le Mans at night.

New vehicles include the Volkswagen Kubelwagen, which has a drive system like the first beetle, and the amphibious Volkswagen Schwimmwagen.

"You might expect to drive off course into the lake, but that won't make it for the launch of GT5," Kazunori said. There's also the Samba Bus, better known as the VW van hippies like.

Higher-end vehicles in GT5 include the Isuzu 4200R, which was first unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show back in 1989. Plus there's the Citroen GT.

Rainy/Snowy dynamic weather just confirmed in video form, shit looks impressive.

EDIT:

YouTube - Gran Turismo 5 Weather Video Trailer

More stuff:

* Laguna Seca has been completely rebuilt and will return for GT5. Trial Mountain has also been confirmed.
* “Gran Turismo Anywhere” will allow you to manage B-Spec races, right from your computer. You’ll be able to hold B-Spec races with your friends from anywhere in what are called “Remote Races”.
* GT5 will feature a series of special events such as the Karting Experience, the AMG driving school, The Stig Challenge, Jeff Gordon NASCAR School, Sebastien Loeb Rally Challenge, and Gran Turismo Rally.
* Point-to-point rally stages will be automatically and randomly generated – you’ll have to depend on your co-driver to give you the best instructions about the road ahead.
* Rally mode can be played either on or offline.
* Weather changes include temperature differences, air pressure changes, and humidity, affecting the surface conditions of the track dynamically.
* Weather conditions are randomized. Forecasts for your race will be available but may not be entirely accurate, just like the real world.

* Polyphony Digital has helped Red Bull Racing’s Adrian Newey design the X1 Concept – an “ultimate” racing car, free of any technical regulations.
* Polyphony Digital has worked to improve engine sounds.
* Yamauchi admits that, in certain situations – such as standing race starts in the rain with 15 other cars on the screen kicking up spray in front of you – the game may not be able to hold 60FPS. Otherwise, it will strive to hold 60FPS as often as possible.
* The Volkswagen Kubelwagen, which has a drive system like the first beetle, and the amphibious Volkswagen Schwimmwagen will be in the game.
* Many things didn’t make the cut in Gran Turismo 5, and work on Gran Turismo 6 has already begun.

That looks bloody real.

That has to be gameplay footage, not real life. It would make no sense to have all of the trailer gameplay apart from that one single scene.

No sweat or dirty kits would be more realistic.

I don't think I've seen players visibly sweat in a football game before.

seriously, how good would a football game with kits getting dirty and pitch wear be...WHY oh WHY has nobody done it yet? (except for some stone-age installements that were able to do so...:D)
