Gran Turismo 5

Who, here, has seen a crash in real life and how many crashes?

What you're implying here is that no one on these boards is capable of judging FIFA/PES because we've likely never been in an actual international-level football match IRL.

...and that's a flat-out asinine statement.

Here's to hope that the alleged "final" build will feature proper chassis deformation and physics, don't get your hopes up though because the GT-Academy demo played exactly like this "Playstation Beta" build (aka felt like driving an overloaded truck on ice 24/7).

WRONG, it's actually your interpretation of what I'm saying that's silly.

And I didn't talk about football, and my question implied nothing as far as football is concerned. How you related my simple question about cars to football and how everyone in the boards is unable to judge FIFA/PES is beyond me.

Or maybe you are just feeling bad that you didn't make international football?

That's exactly my point the crash looked like shit, ;) That game has very basic physics when crashing. I saw no indication of the suspension deteriorate or the body work crumble.

It's a simply. Nosecone and wheel hit force at x amount of momentum, wheel falls off!

It's standard but nothing to write home about. Even at the time that game was released the damage wasn't anything special

Also the physics seemed very wrong there i have to say! Cars normal flip over when the are hit at the side rather than a front to back collision.

This crash here is well presented though :)

Have you ever heard of "analogies" before? What are you, 12?

what the shit lol, dunno what you've been smoking man but it must be one helluva drug.

These 2 things are not similar so..and yes I'm 12. What are you, 47?

Still very clean and clinical, just the separate parts coming off, and the following car hits a wheel at speed, that would have written him off at that speed instead it just bounces off...

Damn, your correct, the US Collectors Edition includes the model.

Nice one SCEE.

See that still looks rubbish, the deformation is all wrong.

Carmageddon TDR 2000 was bloody awesome in single player and multiplayer. GTA IV has the best damage model ever, amongst other technical feats...

Up to now, GT5 has only nice graphics, but everything related to gameplay seems to be a big turd.

bouncy cars. the more videos i see of this the less i wanna buy it. Sound effects are shocking.

Is this really GT5? i think they should really consider delaying this game for another 10 years.

I don't actually see anything wrong with that last video.

The sound is obviously going to be off as it's someone filming a tv screen with a camera or mobile phone. Not a HD live capture from the actual game giving us the actual sound effects.

Bouncy cars? I didn't see any bouncing. I saw the car lose control, spin sideways and then I guess someone cracked into the side of them... but no actual bouncing.

what actually was I supposed to see and be shocked and appalled by?

Wow, that sucked, hard.

This was the one game that could have persuaded me to trade my 360 for a PS3, no point doing that now with it looking so shit.

The car is not boncy. It's the camera that tries to simulate a POV from the pilot that gives the "bouncy" effect. Stupid nonetheless. And sterile videos that add nothing to previous gt games.

...and pretty much nothing happened, dude spun the car back on track and started driving again. So much for the "real driving simulator". Real my ass.

Dude lost control of his Ferrari at 150~ Km/h, hit the guardrails in the process (no deformation whatsoever on the elements of the environment either...which sucks) and then proceeds to get hit by 3 cars going approximately at the same speed (shitty AI didn't even try to avoid the crashes and drove right into the player's car, as per usual), try doing that IRL and see if the car doesn't get totalled and smashed in more pieces than we have numbers.

Also, to add insult to injury, the last car hit him on the right front wheel and the force of the impact transferred straight into momentum, making the car accelerate almost instantly to 50+ Km/h while going backwards (nice marble against marble physics right there)...

How isn't that "bouncing"? Bouncing as in crashing and bumping back on track like nothing, that is.

Most importantly though, how doesn't it look like shit to you?

Also what pisses me off is that these guys are giving the finger to pad players (playing the GT Academy demo with pads was nigh impossible) and basically building the game around fucking expensive Wheel-like controllers such as the G27 and the Driving Force...now, that would make sense if the game was actually realistic but it's such a fucking arcadey train-wreck (honestly it feels like PD bit more than they could chew and were afraid of bringing innovations into their obsolete franchise aside from graphical improvements...I bet they didn't even plan to implement damage into this til they saw Forza III...which is why the damage build seems rushed) there's no reasons why they couldn't have tweaked it a bit in order to make it a little more pad-friendly.

As it is, it's not going to be worth it either way.

sorry mate but are you blind? the car blatantly bumps off the side of the track and carrys on fine yet again showing how BRILLIANT the damage physics are :CONFUSE:

im having second thoughts about this game. This game could look like as real as a show form top gear but if it bounces off like mario kart and handles as realistic as GRID then fuck me for a laugh. this game aint worth £40 let alone £150 for the ultimate fanboy edition.

lol keep your 360. dont trade it in for this shit. incidentaly, sell all your consoles and just come and join me in pc gaming land with the likes of GTR3 and rfactor 2 coming out on the horizons which will make forza/GT games look like a piece of shit(although at GT5's state it already does look like shit).

Well said. Fucking terrible videos and i was SOOOOOOOO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS GAME

When is Rfactor 2 coming out?

and will it have proper arm physics? none of that arms being stuck to steering wheel straight etc..

I mean surely it's more realistic for drivers arms' and even feet in a way to move and activate stuff like RPM Limiter, Fduct and other stuff like tweaking brake balance etc.., also to see the divers actually move their fingers to change gear or with the older cars, actually change the manual gearbox!

Nitpicking? Hey i thought this was supposed to be an ultra sim :) ????

I find it amazing how a game has such realistic and hugely deep physics but had such awful physics in terms of graphics.

I wonder if it will have deep weather effects like F1 2010, more realistic suspension damage etc...

Also will the graphics at least be on the Xbox 360's level, at least?

I seen a few screens of rfactor 2, it didn't tell me too much :)
