Formula1

Shame, looks like we won't be seeing Danica Patrick racing for the US based team...

That's not necessarily a bad thing. She's not exactly setting the IndyCar scene alight, and she's rumoured to be off to NASCAR anyway.
Personally I think she's a little over-hyped TBH.

The excuse that she's too big to drive for a new team in F1 is a bit strange too. They make it sound like she's a current world beater who would expect to challenge in hers & their 1st season in a different discipline.

Dario Franchitti on the other hand would be interesting if he ever switched to F1...

:)) I'd just have thought it would be good for F1 to have a female driver in there, your right she's not fantastic by any stretch but...

Ferrari to dump Kimi
Raikkonen could be paid off to make way for Alonso

Ferrari are reportedly set to dump Kimi Raikkonen at the end of this season, offering the Finn a massive pay-off to step aside for Fernando Alonso.

 he's off rallying by all accounts...

Not surprised that they would want to do that, looking at Kimi's body language he doesn't really seem interested.

Renault back in Valaecia as their ban is lifted...

"Renault and Fernando Alonso have been successful in their appeal against a one-race ban meaning that they are now free to race in Sunday's European Grand Prix. The French outfit were disciplined after Alonso was allowed to depart the pit-lane with a loose wheel at last month's Hungarian Grand Prix.

The wheel subsequently came loose and bounced across the track at the race on July 26 and race officials later decided that the team's pit crew knew the wheel was not properly secured and failed to tell the driver.

Renault appealed the ruling and were always hopeful the ban would be lifted and yesterday motorsport's governing body, the FIA, did just that and instead decided to fine the team just over £30,000."

I think it was a bit harsh, F1 and the FIA goes OTT sometimes...

I didn't even know they got a ban! Definitely harsh, looked like an honest mistake.

McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh has told Heikki Kovalainen he must improve if he is to secure a new contract.
The Finn has had a disappointing season, scoring points in just three of his 10 races to date, and there is speculation that he will be released at the end of the season as his two-year deal comes to its end.

And while Whitmarsh is happy with Kovalainen's efforts, he says results will need better to results if he is to ensure he remains on the team.

It's going to be interesting towards the end of the season...

Nice result for Force India, Kimi took care of business once the safety car left.

finally a nice race for BMW. and Kubica had a damaged wing through the whole race. It will be interesting at Monza surely.

Good race from FI also, if not Kimmies KERS he would be in trouble.
btw it must have benn the first race in looong moths that most of the pack was pnly seconds away from easch other. i already got used to 1,2 or 3 cars speeding away from the rest of the group anw innig by more than a minute. Finally it was close, exciting. Something I want to see every time :)

Renault will face charges of race fixing at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix after being summoned to an extraordinary meeting of the World Motorsport Council.

The FIA have revealed that Renault will face charges of being in breach of the international sporting code relating to last year's Singapore Grand Prix.

Damn... I think Renault were thinking of pulling out anyway, this may just speed it up...

Lotus back...

The historic name of Lotus will return to Formula One for the first time since 1994 after being named as the 13th team on the grid for 2010.

The FIA have handed the Malaysian-backed team the final place on the grid ahead of BMW Sauber, despite an 'impressive application' from the latter.

BMW have announced they are pulling out of F1 next year but the Sauber team was hoping to receive backing in time to retain their place on the grid, although they could still step in if a vacancy arises.

"It has awarded BMW Sauber the '14th place' in the championship, meaning that it will be entitled to fill any vacancy that arises on the 2010 grid," the FIA revealed in a statement.

"In addition, the FIA believes that a good case can be made for expanding the grid to 14 teams...

It's pretty much just a two way battle between Button and Barrichello now, I don't mind who wins it really.
Button is English and it's good to see us having a world champion at something, and Barrichello has been a really good driver for many years and it would be good for him to end his career with a championship.

It looks like it will most likely be Button now with the lead he has with only a few races left in the same car, but one more crash for Jenson and it could get very tight...
