Football Manager Series

Didn't they do something similar with mods to ad boards? I think it was ~FM 2018 where a mod was released with real ad boards, but SI quickly shut it down which stinks for those of us not letting real advertisements appear.
"There *was* an adboard pack, but SI threatened legal action as it's the only place they can advertise within the game, so it was removed from the internet. It was originally for FM21 or 22, and doesn't work for 24."

FM UPDATE OCTOBER 2024

Tools:-
Licensing Fix - 4.1
Media Pack 2024
Nik33's Agent Pack
FM24 Increased Realism (September 2024)
Stadium Fixes
Data Update

I have not updated any of the graphics at this moment in time and will do shortly.
This is due to the graphics available are pretty much up to date.

For those who don't own FM 2024 and you're thinking about it, recommend picking it up now as it will likely go up in price if FM 25 doesn't stay true to the roots. Cheapest I've seen it today is ~$28 USD.

Is there much difference between 24 and 23? I have a league with Ujpest and I'm having a great time in 23.

Main reason to own FM24 is that it could be the ultimate version of FM.
Since they are changing game engine next year, FM25 will continue to get updated for years to come in the same way all the previous game engines are.
There is still a massive following online for 96/97 - 03/04 and I feel FM24 will now have the same cult following in the future with the game being constantly updated.

If FM does go down the route of being a more casual/console friendly version of the game then I feel it will lose a lot of it's core audience.
But if your a business why would you care about the core audience?
It is the same as FIFA why make a simulation for 10% when you can make it a casual brainless experience for 90%.
If they get the casual/console audience then they will increase their sales massively.

Oh God let's all hope it doesn't come to that.

Desperate for news and there's nothing yet, but, Unity have done a very technical talk about FM25's switch to a Unity-based UI, if anyone's interested:

Good summary here:

It seems like the switch to Unity was less about the match engine and more about decoupling the code from the UI...

...and that this year's biggest coding jobs have been recoding what FM24 already had (so that it can connect to the UI layer) as opposed to gameplay improvements.

To be honest, I'm still excited for it, because I didn't use any of the culled features (with the exception of "shouts" which were a bit silly).

But my expectations are getting lower all the time!

They said FM25 is the beginning of a new era.. so I don't expect the new match engine will be a huge improvement at its start

It's a hard decision for sure. They gave users great expectations about the new era.
But it's obvious they find it hard to manage the new engine, I wonder if they would like directly to skip 2025 edition..

Mars 2025 is close to the end of a season in Europe.
So SI will release 2 games in an amount of 7 months ? FM25 (March) then FM26 (November) ! U really think !!

I feel like SI should gave us new season expansion while we wait. I respect their decision to delay the game considering the new engine, but I fear this might go downhill from there (but I hope it’s not the case).

This was inevitable and most fellow members here already spotted the issues of this transition months ago.
The big problem is the "modern" gaming, the "modern" videogamers and companies. Us old CM and FM fans/users aren't disappointed. We can load up a 24-25 season data file in almost any other iteration of the last 25 years or so and play watching the dots moving. The postpone is 90% down to the 3D match engine and 10% about features.
Will the new game get a March 2025 release? Imo there's absolutely no way they'll release the game in March and if somehow they do they won't be able to charge more than £24.99 on Steam.
Best thing they can do now is to release a season update with updated ratings, players etc. This not as a new game but as an optional DLC within FM 24 which updates the game with all the above plus up-to-date calendar and league structures. A price ranging from £4.99-£7.99 might be fair considering the licences costs etc.

March is too early for a big project like this. I don't see this as a timeline realistic judging by the amount of problems they are having. Releasing a football game in March doesn't make much sense when most European football leagues are at the tail end of their seasons.

SI should do a season update like Coinami did with PES 21. See if they could tweak the match engine some more, update the database, add a few new features to FM 24, and focus on a 2025 Summer/Fall release of FM 26.
