Football Manager Series

Not sure if anyone has tried it, but FM Scout released a "DLC" (completely free) for FM24 to get update the majority of the game to the 2024/25 season: https://www.fmscout.com/a-fm24-to-fm25-dlc.html
Reading their description it seems unclear to me, have they made the structure/new format changes in the European competitions or partial ones? Not a big thing though as I personally don't like this new format.

I will update the graphics this week and provide a new Data Update.

Does anyone have a decent selection of Kits? For the current season as these seem quite difficult to get hold of these days.

I get all my kits from FM Slovakia: https://fmslovakia.com/downloads/kitpacks/fc12-season-2024-25/. Quality is great and updates throughout the year. Only downside is their ManU kits have the fake logo after all the lawsuit threats. My solution was to get just the current ManU kits from another source.

There's been an update to the game today - that removes previously licensed teams. This is because they decided not to remove access to the game from Game Pass etc. - but in order to keep the game on those services, they are legally required to remove content whose licenses have expired.

It's that or remove the game from Game Pass, Netflix etc... so I'm pretty happy.

To fix this on PC, redownload and reapply the SortItOutSI "real names" fix. It needs to be reapplied as every update wipes and resets the folders where you install the fix to.

Yeah, I'm starting to get really worried now. You wouldn't think they'd want the fans to get themselves into a paranoid frenzy, but if they've got nothing to show at this point...

I believe in SI (and Miles) because I've never felt let down by them before. In all honesty if they cancel this release and just take a year off, I wouldn't mind (even if they couldn't afford to do that). But there's an air of disaster hanging around this now...

11 hours...

EDIT: The previous YouTube video (the game announcement) was published at 3pm UK time (2hrs to go) - if there's nothing by then... Eeek.

Also, a personal announcement:

I wouldn't worry about it to much.
The game isn't due till March and we know it is going to be a pretty featureless version of FM. (Possibly even terrible version)

It was there choice to start developing using Unity as it will allow expansion down the line - Although I am sceptical about this as believe it was transferred to Unity to make it easier to port to console and develop for multiple formats.

Once the transfer window is finished I will happily start a new game with FM24 as it is a fantastic version of the game.

Couple of interesting quotes from the SI forums - first, from a data researcher:

Researchers are also looking for answers to the uncertainty. If there's a new delay or cancellation, our two semesters of research will be kind of thrown away because we haven't had a chance to see and test it in the final version of the game and we'll naturally be making new changes based on data we can't test.

I think that's a serious problem because people's feedback is very important in player ratings. Lorenzo Lucca in the past is the best example. Even though we as researchers are responsible for our observations, we need to be able to test them to see how they translate in the game and for two full semesters they have not been tested in any way.

SI needs to speak up now.

But most interestingly, from one of the forum moderators:

You might not realise this, but there are absolutely good, even LEGAL reasons, why they cannot communicate.

Let's look at the situation in October where they had to announce the delay to March. This needs to be discussed with SEGA, and SEGA is listed on a stock exchange.
It is illegal to reveal information to anyone that can cause a stock price to change, unless the information is released to everyone. That also means that there has to be a general announcement to the public and until that is done there has to be complete silence. Not doing so would result in penalties for SI or SEGA and possible lawsuits from stockholders.

So yes, even a short update is out of the question in such a case as we had in October. This is not bad crisis management, although I agree the lack of information and communication is frustrating.

...I know it's not news, but, desperate for news over here...

Personally I don't think there will be much news until maybe a week or two before the game is released.
They will get massive backlash as it is most likely going to be bad news with more features missing from the game.

I came to realisation and acceptance that FM25 will be nothing more than a BETA for FM26 when in the 6 months after launch will be adding more features and the major bugs and issues to be ironed out.

Personally I think FM24 will become my FM now for a number of years, as it is clear with Unity they going to move more towards making sure the game works best on console.
The days of FM being a massive stats driven game with lots of options will be scaled back going forward and every aspect of the game simplified.

I may be wrong but personally I fear for the future of FM.

Same here, I thought with everything else in the world turning to utter shit, FM would be my safe haven but I fear not.

I think that's like saying "Assetto Corsa is going to become Mario Kart because that's what people want"... but then nobody would buy it.

Sim games sell because there is a sim audience. If they decided to ditch that sim audience, they'd have no audience left (however ambitious they may be, they're not stupid enough to believe they could become the next FUT in terms of popularity with a non-action game - Miles Jacobsen is no fool).

It's not going to be simplified, I'd bet my house on it - but features will definitely be missing.

The real concern is way bigger - if they can't release a game before financial year end, they lose out on a lot of projected funding that was in the balance sheet, and future releases - or at the very least, the quality of them given the financial sacrifices they'd have to make - are a huge question mark.

5:02pm... Nothing.

I guess they can't even provide another small apology/update because of the partners they've committed dates/times to, which they can't contravene without further negotiation.

This is really bad.

Only response to this - If true why is there no simulation football games?
Because the masses want a simple no thought process game, where they can buy Messi for Burnley.

I don't think it matters too much everyone answers to shareholders, if they simplify the game and it sells millions instead of 100's of thousands then they would absolutely ditch the hardcore simulation.

There is a small amount of people who buy and love AC, however the game sells are nothing compared to the simcade GT7.

Unfortunately the simulation chasers are in a decline and people want quick easy fun.
