Football Manager 2008

Got Tranmere promoted in my first season, board asked for my expectations for the second and - knowing how hard it is when you've just been promoted - I chose "enjoy the experience".

After the second season we finished 16th, which I thought was pretty good for a team tipped for instant relegation. And then I'm told my contract won't be renewed.

So I've applied for every job, holidayed for months, and nobody's interested. It may well be realistic, fair play, but it's not exactly making me want to play the game.
 
Ah I'm sick of this game

Middlesbrough: 1 shot, 0 on target, 1 off target, 40% possession.

Final score: 1-1.
 
I'm in my third season having got Atletico to fourth place finishes in successive seasons ... and yet when I apply for Championship clubs as manager, they laugh at me :(
 
4 years at Lyon

Year 1 - Won Ligue 1
Year 2- Won Coup de France, came 2nd
Year 3 - Won Champions League, came 2nd
Year 4 - Won Ligue 1, CL final
After year 4 I resigned and 200000 clubs were after me - Opted for Sevilla
Year 5 - Was expected to finish mid table, came 3rd after 18 games unbeaten run. Built a great team to push for the title in Year 6. I get lots of job offers from teams, usually big ones like Bayern and Real Madrid.

I also try to make a team as domestic as possible. With Lyon 9 of my starting lineup were French. When I joined Sevilla my team had 5 Spanish players. In Year 6 we have 13 in the whole team.

I usually try to do the same with domestic players. I've just started a game with Liverpool and it's not proving too easy.

I'm having trouble getting a decent price for some of my foreign lads like Alonso, Kewell, Arbeloa, Kuyt. Also finding English players to come in and replace them is a mission in itself.

So far I've signed a few English youth players and then spent big money on some attacking midfielders but they're both foreign... so it's not working!

I just assaulted Liverpool in their own backyard in the 1st leg of our (Roma) Champions League Quarter Final match...8 - 5!
 
A lot of people have complained about the crazy high scores since the latest patch. Can't say I've noticed it so much though.

I won the Champions League with Atletico Madrid :D 2-0 down to Chelsea after 20 mins and the commentary are saying it's an embarassment. 94th minute and Raul Garcia scores to win us the game! :BY:

Went looking for a job in the Prem and Liverpool turned me down for Roy bloody Hodgson! Then Portsmouth and Fulham offered me the position so I accepted Pompey for one year. Already sold my young French keeper for £30m to Newcastle and a load of others leaving for big money because they want to move to a new club.

So now I've got £50m to spend, brought in Mutu, Van Bommel and Gudjohnsen :) I'm desperately trying to get the Russian goalie Akinfeev but they keep turning my bid down and I'm close to the £30m mark now :(
 
I love it when Chelski lose.

What was the keepers name?
 
Can't remember now. He was a 23 year old French guy. I'm in my fourth season now so he's a youngster when you start the game. I think he might have played for Lille?
 
Lloris rings a bell, I'm pretty sure it's him Stef!

In fact it is him, definately.

How did you know?
 
Milan are linked with him in real life and he was my GK for Lyon. I signed him for £15m. In real life hes highly rated this season along with Mandanda.
 
Ah. Unfortunately I never got to see him play as he wanted to move to a bigger club straight away. Akinfeev will be a good replacement though.

I've also signed Vagner Love for £6.5m and he's in rotation up front with Jermain Defoe :)

Yeh plays for Nice, awesome keeper. You can get Ustari on the cheap at the beggining with a 4.8mill release cause (around that mark), Thats of you have got the 8.02 update
 
I was close to winning the league in my first season but come crunch time I lost 2 key games and AC pulled away, I'm still pleased with my boys though.

Love it though, absolutely love it. Shame it's a bit dumbed down, no staff bits and bobs and less tactical options. Plus I settled for the auto-team, couldn't find a way of picking your own players, so I have a bit of a crappy team now. But the tactics seem more realistic to me, no more bloody sliders. No tactical arrows though, which is annoying.

I'm on the Madeira server, in the XFA league. If that means anything to anyone. :)
 
I bought Alessandro Rosina from Torino to replace Mancini after he decided that he wanted out and bloody Inter wouldn't leave him alone.

I also got Huntelaar for a cool £20mill, Grosso for £12 although I feel dirty after paying that much for a 30yr old LB. I'm also convinced that I bought the wrong Breno Silva (CB) and I'm close to getting Hugo Lloris to replace Doni in goal.

Also I had Matias Fernandez all sown up for £9million but I forgot that I already had bought a foreigner so it got cancelled.
