FIFA/FC vs PES/eFootball

I'm 100% legit mate.

Played FIFA all day. From 9am to 7pm only taking a break for food and toilet breaks (oh and to put the bins out!).

It's too fast, even in SLOW. The visuals are stunning, the presentation second to none. But ON the pitch, PES 2017 is more enjoyable.

I played one match of H2H Seasons. That was enough for me - awful stuff.

You tried Matts sliders? It's only early days but it's improved the game a lot. Out the box this game plays poorly but hopefully Matt can sort. It's been a good start.

I prefer Pes but FIFA sure does pull you in with its presentation and visuals. The game looks stunning. If you play FIFA go back to Pes quickly it looks horrible. Need to give it an hour or so.

Fifas grass is fantastic.

FIFA definitely looks the part but I just can't see me playing that style of football all year long.

Plus with sliders, you fix one thing only to break another.

I think I will just focus on PES this year. I really fell out of love with FIFA in a BIG way today. Loved it at first but it grated quickly - exactly what used to happen back in the day with FIFA for me.

I think it's best to focus on one rather than keep switching. You end up enjoying neither.

I dont buy the Sun newspaper (as a Red) but I saw the FIFA review over some guys shoulder today. Got 3.5/5 said it looks great but the game-play is stale and that PES is better now.

It is stale. I have gone from loving it to hating it in a matter of 24 hours.

Just sold it to CEX for 32 quid. The thing with FIFA 17, it's too persistent in making you play in one way.

It's not a bad game by any means - it's just not for me. I can see why people enjoy it but I need something a lot slower and tactical for my needs.

This may surprise the likes of Craney and Curdstar who will have seen me be positive about FIFA and rather negative towards Pro Evo... I CANNOT STAND FIFA 17! The AI is non existant, The gameplay is too fast and feels dumbed down, its all about Pace and Strength and the Shielding of the ball is over-powered especially online...

I am thoroughly fed up with EA making FIFA more and more for kids with each release... FAST gameplay... making it so that Ronaldo, Bale etc are just too fast and somehow strong so therefore making them unstoppable!.

For all I have moaned about PES this year... it actually IS a better game than FIFA 17. I am done with FIFA now as a series... unless radical improvements are done through patches (which they won't be) or on the next game? I won't be touching FIFA again!

That is all and GOOD NIGHT!

PS FOR FUCK SAKE KONAMI INCLUDE SOME CO OP ONLINE MODES!! ITS 2016 NOT 2001!

LOL played 41 hours already (guess it includes early access hours), only played FUT SP and Journey, haven't even touched Career Mode which is my mode and I'm loving it, best Fifa ever, loving the AI, loving the pace of the game, brilliant player identity that is on another plateau compared to any other football game I've played.

Do you play the game online at all? That's when it feels like an Arcadey Speedfest for kids :(

Yeah, online FIFA always plays differently. If you come into it thinking it's a different game, then you won't be so pissed about it. It's always been that way. If you want that slow pace you won't find it online with FIFA.

Fuck no! Online is where the dickhead FUTTY Yutubers live.

Maybe we should have a thread with our Origin Id's and the teams we play as, It's always soul destroying for me to find an online game and you are always facing Real, Barcelona or Bayern. Soooo boring!

I'm a Tottenham fan, so I always choose Tottenham, Now if I was drawn in a game with someone who selected Plymouth for example, I would happily play as Yeovil or someone equivalent.

I don't care if I win or lose, I just want to have fun.

This.

But you'll get the inevitable "sliders this, sliders that" claptrap.

I honestly cant believe how let off and easy it was for EA to include them in the first place. What a cop-out that stuff is. "We know the games got issues. Heres sliders" Why did no one question gameplay issues of the "out of box" game? Instead we have players rolling over to it but adjusting sliders. Bet EA are rubbing their hands at that one. Less work. Less need to work on fundamental issues. I wonder why the game still suffers with the same problems year after year?

EA Sports are copping out with the sliders but whats worse? The paying customer is also unknowingly copping out for them by pushing the sliders as a way of making things better. Thats EA's job.

Probably only 4 or 5 of the sliders work properly as well.

I only play offline (fifa); 90% of online matches that I have tried were terrible (lag, kids trying to dribble and score with CBs, trolls who score own goals, idiots who take gks to centre of the pitch, run&gun gameplay etc.). I want to play realistic game of footy and that is offline. Also, career mode is IMO much more interesting than online.

I've noticed one thing in this thread . . .the divide of which game feels better wil always be there. . .Fifa fans or Pes fans will always surface with their preference for each game . .nothing wrong with that. . .but it's inevitable with each side no matter how good or bad each game is.

But offline is the biggest part of retro gaming....so....

He likes single player football gaming, like many do. I only play PES 2017 for the Master League. I never take it online because it's a mess.

I don't want to play pointless head-to-head matches against some 12 year old kid who gets aroused by Neymar's hair. I want to play a career and buy/sell players, build a team and get the fans onside.

I play Career because it's essentially role playing.

So I managed to get home early afternoon (thank god) instead of the evening like I thought and returned to FIFA 17 being installed etc on my PS4 and gave it a whirl. I have to say, the game is visually stunning. Everything looks so polished and it really draws you in aesthetically.

The gameplay I think is lacking in certain areas:

1. Positionally, the game is all over the place. Whilst it is infinitely better in this regard than 16 there are still issues that need to be resolved. Wandering DMF/CMF are still occurring which is a disappointment. Although, full backs are much better in this iteration. No longer do they wander infield when defending for no reason, so kudos for that.

2. The CPU feels very same-y to me. Whilst there is a wealth of player individuality on offer (that's my initial impression anyway) I'm disappointed to find that Spurs play the same as Palace. It's a criticism I can level at FIFA for years now and something they seem to be reluctant to alter.

3. Clunkiness. The game just feels less fluid to me, things feel as if they're on rails. I really don't know how to describe this opinion so I'm probably going to articulate it really badly. I just feel as if there's less scope for flair and improvisation in FIFA whereas in PES I feel as I can accomplish any number of things whilst attacking.

I will say one thing though, FIFAs defending system is leagues ahead of PES for me. PES is very simple and really removes the art from defending. But in all honesty, apart from the visuals and the bells and whistles FIFA appears to have very little under the surface. I'll persist with it and play with some sliders - but I'm not impressed so far. I'd rather have the bare bones of Master League with fantastic gameplay than a stunning Career Mode where I feel the gameplay is subpar.

Who knows my opinion may change, but I think I might be returning this one and spending the money on the Final Fantasy XV preorder!

I have not got my copy of FIFA 17 yet (i was lucky enough to get the BETA and played the demo) but my point is i find PES 2017 so addictive right now offline in master league i see no need to get FIFA yet because the overall offline gameplay is not as good a PES in my opinion judging from experience with the BETA/Demo.PES frustrates you excites you and challenges you its not perfect but its a solid 8/10 games that keeps you wanting to play 'just one more match' because of the different outcomes each match brings

FIFA was never going to blow anyone away this year other than with the visuals cos the new engine is at the start of its FIFA cycle. EA have all the tools to make a game that blows PES away in the next couple of years but you wouldnt bet on them pulling it off they are scared to change because of the money they rake in with how it currently plays

EA should bring out two football games. A slower, tactical, single player career mode game for people like myself and Placebo by the looks of it. And a super fast arcade sprint fest FIFA Ultimate Team game.

They have enough resources to have two teams working on two games and EA would make a shed load of cash.

But what they try to do is appeal to both sets of fans with one package: a career mode, FUT and the head to head seasons modes.

So many people at my Southampton forum have already had enough of FIFA 17. It's only been out for two days!

Playing PES today and it's made me feel like a youngster again. I get that warm, fuzzy feeling inside that I got when playing PES 1, PES 3 and PES 5. It's so addictive and has so much depth in its gameplay yet it's accessible at the same time.

Today I even found myself applauding the CPU goals where as in FIFA 17 I wanted to throw the game in the bin after 5 matches in Career Mode.

It's weird because I loved FIFA at first and didn't like PES but you really do need to adjust and get used to how the game flows in PES 2017.
