FIFA 23 Discussion Thread (Console Versions)

Not sure I'd call them idiots given the bit of money they'll be earning for it.

That FIFA 23 tweet I did showing the skating and the chasms in midfield/defence - I've had two accounts message me in the last 24 hours asking if I'll promote their coin-buying service, one of them offering cash. No joke. That really shocked me, and obviously I have no interest in being paid to promote something I personally consider immoral to the point that it should be illegal. I wouldn't take their money.

Besides, everyone knows if you want the best deals on FIFA coins, you just go to www.bestfifacoins.com. Use the code "christheconstantwhinger" and get 5% off.

I'd love to see you opening packs live on twitch.

The only reason the FUT guys are even mentioned by anyone else is because this stupid fantasy version of an ice hockey/basketball hybrid that they've created with their dumb feedback, is the default gameplay for everyone else.

So basically, it's EA's fault. No one would care about anything they are saying or doing in their stupid casino mode if it didn't completely ruin the game for everyone else.

Yep, nail on the head

They're usually saccharine content aggregators who represent nothing but 'gaming'. They'd otherwise (and also probably do...) create content for the other massively popular online gaming platforms ie...Fortnite, Apex, Fall Guys...CoD etc.

I'm not disputing that those games are probably fun (they're popular for a reason) but it's just that fun to these people = winning. It's what makes these games become basically vapid bags of nothing.......... All that matters is the 'win' or 'gettin good'. The streamer's entire popularity usually hinges on them playing these games as 'a pro' and therefore losing, to them, is a surefire sign that 'omg this is a broken peice of shit.......there's no skill gap because I was clearly the better player....WAH' All their followers just copy whatever they say...because they're 'the pros'

Sometimes I think, maybe I'm just being a crotchety old man...and sometimes I am, But I think in this case it's justified.

These people are a disease to whatever game they latch onto, just look at what's happened to Battlefield. What makes it especially galling in this case is that there are litrally millions of football fans to whom this game is the only viable option they have to play a game that's supposed to simulate something they absolutely love in real life. Yet it gets ruined by immature morons who couldn't give a shit "Don't like it? Tough sh*t Mr realistic...a game should be a game!"

Crazy arguments saying ''its demo so it'll be fixed'' as if those sliding issues and jelly issues didn't make into fifa year after year.

Yeah, this is annoying me too. Same thing with the midfield chasm and "you don't know the difficulty". These guys have obviously not played FIFA 22 on World Class and above.

They'd much rather they didn't point it out until AFTER the game is released, at which point they'll tell you it doesn't matter anyway and "if you don't like it, don't buy it". (Which, admittedly, is absolutely correct.)

I so want to do that.
i lure them all in with one decent live episode. Second episode I let the bomb explode. All the stuff you mentioned and we agree on… pure and honest opinion to the current state of the game! 😂
„Football games unmasked“ would be the second episodes sub title. 😊

I have seen my movies from FIFA 22 bêta. Damned, EA kill a lot of animations who made the game having PES 5/Winning Eleven feeling

Even night games, so a bit faster than day matchs, no animation of shot, control, header, are missing. Everything is well decomposed. It's run faster but it feels real.

That the big problem on FIFA 22 After patchs : they killed a lot of animations.

I played beta on Legendary and AI was really really nice. So much variety, unexpected actions but in the nice way. What a downgrade with retail game After patch. I think it was my mind but no. FIFA 22 bêta was the best FIFA to date. EA has killed a lot of GK animations too. So sad.

The midfield was there, GK were there, Defender were there only few faults killed realism.

What I also found laughable is that it's a winner take all tournament for prize money as if clubs are flying to America and Asia for a shot at some extra money lol.

Chris mentioned it but as soon as this guy said the game is being held back by the FIFA license I immediately checked out.

I guess the FIFA license requires midfield to not track back.

It's impressive how this game only goes up in revenue year by year.

Our EA SPORTS FIFA franchise is exceptionally strong on a global basis, with record business for Q1 in Asia, significant growth in mobile with DAUs up another 10% over last quarter, and FUT engagement growing nearly 40% year-over-year, which is well above the industry average. We’re going from strength to strength in EA SPORTS, including Madden NFL 23 just weeks away, and our most expansive FIFA game ever coming this fall.

I don't think anybody should apologise for criticising what FIFA has become.

While so many games are pushing the technology, we have a football game that uses PONG as its inspiration.

And year after year, EA's marketing department insult everybody's intelligence by saying it's more realistic than ever.

Biggest sport in the world football, but there's still a limit to how much you can grow your market.

But expand your football game & market by trying to appease anyone who either can't or don't really want to play a football game? That's fucking GENIUS (but don't forget to pretend & still use the word realistic a lot). The, now minority, of people who'd like a football game are just pissed off in a forum (and 9 out of 10 will buy it anyway, because you can now visit your injured teammate in a hospital or something).

The most important question is..... how many fouls will be in the game? I din´t buy Fifa for years, because no fouls. Even if game is perfect (which is not) .... without fouls it is pathetic.

I want to see derby match with 20 fouls.....

I think fouls are another thing that are gone forever (other than deliberate fouls), for the "flow of the game". Stoppages are boring to the audience they're targeting.

"The World game" is the slogan for FIFA 23😉
Hope some nice add for immersion. But I prefer gameplay news😕
All will be only for nextgen

For your information, FIFA 18 was also tagged as "The World's Game". Seems like EA can't even avoid old slogan and bring it back as a new slogan, just like their game (and features).
Yes I know that with CR7 and FIFA 18. Maybe it is the slogan for game with World Cup?

All visual changes mean nothing to me unless they give the missing Italian teams jerseys that are at least the same colour as the teams they’re meant to represent.

Used to be that when they didn’t have the licence to teams in Serie B - the colours at least matched

I mean, yeah they’ve got Juve back - but I really don’t want to be playing with a Roma that has Arsenal’s colours again.

It’s such a minor thing - but completely kills the game for me

Don't know if it still goes up, we grown with both offensive/arcade and balanced/sim tons of football games.
Like we talked in Retro thread, Super Sidekicks, ISS/Deluxe, Virtua Striker 2, olders games like Tecmo World cup etc., Fever Pitch soccer...

Many guys from some age grown up with only 2 "lookalike" football game, and as bad or good they were : we got more choice.
Even on PS1 or PS2 etc. there was all types of games.
Iss Pro Evo/PES are exceptions, it's balanced action football game. That's what youth needs now... But there's way too many problems with it.

There were by far less possibilities but it was fun and balanced at the same time : easier to produce a game with 8 directions/16 while running with a smaller pitch, less attempts regarding graphisms and everything else on and off the pitch.

Now, they wants to have fun and both visual realism, which is a very hard thing to reproduce. They don't, and both EA or Konami got the ass between two chairs... Since PS4 era. I kinda understand the "but it's game it should stay a game" means "It's a game it should stay amusing to play".

On PS3, Fifa got a smaller pitch and was more old PES based and (not all versions like for PES) balanced. It was an action-football game like PES was, less fidelity about visuals and size of everything etc., but with an engine who fitted more for tons of things. And inertia etc. than PES PS3.

Since PS4/One-PC (now a standard) try to build something like that photorealistic, with a real size ground (by far less possibilities of contact/interceptions in one game), accurate motions, AI that can handle all of those stuffs i can add the bar pass etc. etc. all televisual and real sized...

Now the big issue is they relies too much as what youth asks, even if themselves (either we, differs from what's important). And then, we got a mix of everything in a game. Plus the E-sport player adding their grain of salt...

Yes, FG are kinda dead as they don't even know what to do in fact with social media.
In my own opinion : Because they're listen too much to what youth wants and relies a lot on E-Sports people like someone said is uncompatible with a balanced/sim/action-football game.
Not creating a game in intern, with their own decision, more or less closed doors in secret with what they wanted to represent about football.

David Rutter (FIFA PS3) and Seabass (PES PS2) were doing like that in the past, then they listened, but keeped with their team their own view of what they wanted to represent as a balanced action-football game.

Sorry for the long post but i read so much all and it's opposite, plus the gameplay choices completely wtf that i try to found the "why?" about it.
Yes, there's money on the table but it's more complicated than that, and to me it's more for modes, publicity, popularity than for gameplay, so there's a part of thruth about what you said @fernadez

(2k apologies on both EF and FUT ) Edit (2k+)
> but it cames from a conversation with a friend who was relatively unattached to football game, same age as me.
What i remember he said tilted my broken hearth and we relativised. Just wanted at least ONE good NEW footy game to choose. Simply good, not superb, bug free.

FIFA 16 is a proof for that.
Without sliders, i scored tons of missiles and online scores where pretty high, on Season (not FUT so vanilla gameplay).
I don't consider at all FIFA 16 as balanced, but to me it's the PES 13 for FIFA with the same issues like players fake inertia related to IGNITE. A bit more direct than PES 13... So i see your point of view regarding your previous post.

To judge the real Fifa 16 : play with vanilla gameplay, but it's another story if you played career mode with functional sliders. Personally i didn't disliked it, neither i liked it. Just spending my time online, until i got bored. And i hated PES 2016, perhaps the worst of the series so... No offline / I've always played PES offline and Fifa online.

Sorry i don't want to contradict you every time you're told something about a game lol, it's just my opinion after tons of games with vanilla gameplay.

Even when i came back, i still don't really like the 16 vanilla offline and quickly stop.
I only falls in the non-stopping trap of the sliders on Fifa 19 and this year... Never again.
Sliders > transforms the game feeling in a hybrid stuff, weird to play like a beta test, no durability... For me, just what i feel about it, not a judgement.
+ when you do it yourself, it's to become crazy and change it every 10 seconds. Too Danny Glover for this shit.

I agree that the 16 was one of the two most playable FIFA from PS4-PC era to me, i prefers the 17. With the recoil : i'm meh with every PS4 FIFA in fact. FIFA 20 made me stop once to buy it, Fifa 22 definitively.

If that´s true.... then I don´t understand why everybody is talking about this game here or will play that game. It is lost of time. I will rather to keep playing tennis and squash amateur leagues than to sit and play a highly frustrating arcade football game. It is even better to play PES 5 or PES 17 than this.

Well, even every other Fifa except the 21. Remember some fouls in the 16 and 17 though.
Also, on Arcade games from 16-32 bits era in 2D, there was fouls everywhere too.

Fouls are fun. It gives some spiccy sauce on the game making it more risky.
My own opinion is (related without mention on my long post) that they firstly lost the way to play midfield by making the pitch too big just for the TV visuals, with their defensive system, leaving it like that.
And the fact they given less assistance in Defence may think that you will do more fault, and receive it, but no.
It needs much much more physical contact for it. It's harder but there's ways (what i said in the PES O.T.)

One thing which is gameplay talking very important and practically absent too. So if you compile all the defensive changes, the tactical defending with more space vs the ball owner etc. etc., it's totally normal to have less small faults, only big sliding tackles from behind etc. but nothing more.
Yes, it's also for people complaining but it's not an obligation to put a long cutscene for everything... Just some quick ones for advertissements, not for every fault and it's good. The every single pressing system removed is more an E-Sport/Kids Twittos shit stuff.

PES O.T. on
It was hard to restore it on PES i remember after they maked the pitch bigger on PES 18. Total exempt of faults.
Well PES 19 kinda resolved the problem until the 21 (not punishing PES PS2 level) as pressing, but bigger inertia/slower move/more time for the defender to press etc. etc. ... But on penalty area it's rare, even if i remember i got a penalty on my very first VS CPU match 🤣, i swear it's true. And i still got some when i replay it. PES O.T. off

I remember the same for the following Fifa, but it became even more rare from 18 to 22, as i explained above why to me.
Don't remember Fifa 17 vs CPU but there were less but enough online on Season, like every others games with more space, but not "once a match".
There was Inertia on that one. The last with it 🥲 i prefers not talking about the following change of "Inertia" until it disappeared completely on 10 of the 12 patchs in Fifa 22.

Looks even worst in 23 videos, or similar, i just can't judge the balance about something disappeared on the "Old Code", of course, it's not a gameplay choice like the insiders said :TTTH:. It's all about the code, nothing else.

(3rd big post, 10k bonus apology, no one will read it completely but well, i share for F2R / Free 2 Read to my Evo-mates 🥰)

Semi assisted shooting is already there, but not Semi Lob-passes would be interesting to me (IF)

I'll retain for the guys who liked the 22 : 1st "Partial Team Press" 2nd "New jockey system" and "New players instructions"...

But to me, the IF said as i saw gameplay vids, EXCEPT a gigant change in a full match vid (i'm not dreaming, i know it's impossible), they can put everything they wants, they won't got my money this year.

Could you please hint me towards the manual part!? The video chapters ain’t showing any manual stuff.

Seems a questioning about it, perhaps in a small part on 47 minutes talking you didn't heard or interpreted... Or they just forgot that part and you're right.
(No idea, i don't thrust that much that kind of vids as the features changes day one until June : didn't watched)
