FIFA 22 Discussion (Console Versions)

It might be doable for you. Stadia offers a free month of Stadia Pro (at least in NA) which will give you access to select titles. That way, you could get a general idea for how games will run on your connection.

I just tried it and unfortuately I am getting some lag, BUT the experience was enough to convince me that the next gen is vastly superior to the PC version in every aspect, including at representing the sport as a team sport. Hunting a PS5 now (I had one on the way but cancelled because of what the PC version was offering me).

Talk to me Pap. So it’s much better? Great to hear. I’m hunting a ps5/XSX too in Australia and getting nothing. So frustrating!

Hello,
Maybe I'm wrong, but the long shots an cross have almost disappeared (PS5 version) compared to Trial.
Can someone confirm?
I'm with PS5 , I have done several games only against two teams: Bournemouth and Blackpool to refine my sliders, but I have never seen the cpu making long shot or cross.
Today I'll try with other teams and report back , but I'm very puzzled.

I managed to get one manual match online last night. Not because it was hard to find, I was tired lol.

Anyway, really strange playing a new football game and it not being PES.

The game looks nice and the animations are wonderful. I see myself playing this quite a bit. Shooting is fantastic.

A couple of things I didn't like though.

* tricks, they are so exaggerated it's ridiculous. It's fifa Street, hate it.

* the skating is just awful at times. In just one single game it happened to often not to get irritated by it.

* i have to get used to the player models, PES is still better. The cartoonish feeling takes away some enjoyment.

* FIFA has become better but the feeling of individuality of the older PES games still isn't there.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised by that one game. It was hard fought and I managed to get A 0-0 draw against Liverpool with the Belgium NT.

Unfortunately this is the part you will have to get used to, especially playing online. Full manual might attract decent opponents, who want to play football, but with normal speed and without sliders - tricks are too easy to do and its just part of Fifa..
Unless there is some sort of mode where people can only pick lower teams (which I highly doubt)

Similar to the above. You can reduce it offline and add some weight to the players, but online its not an option.

Thats a good sign. First game is usually a shock to the system with all the controls, movements, animations. And Fuma is much more difficult on Fifa.
Hope it will stay like this for you.

I’ve never really played online, but is there a way to create like a league (or something similar) for just people on the forum wanting to play against each other to have some more sim style matches.

Xbox series X, I have problem that only one gamepad is attached but FIFA recognizes it as controller 2 and I have some dummy controller 1 in the game as well which doesn't exist actually.
Same thing was on FIFA 21 next gen but they fixed it with the update. Anyone has the same problem?

That would be awesome! I remember we did that here back in the day with FIFA 09, it was great. We even had @Chris Davies posting a video doing the draw for all of us.🙂 It was fun!

Yeah exactly. I was surprised over how much I liked it despite these things. It can only get better then I reckon. 🙂

Yup. Same here.

Not sure if a League like this would be feasible, due to time differences, work, life.. it would be very hard to stick to any sort of schedule.
But you can always play friendly season. If you have few people from here added as friends all you do is send them an invite.
It creates a lobby, where you play 5 matches and it accumulates all the points at the end.
Its simple, never had any lags there, and you can even change game speed to Slow.

IMO - yes they are.
I only had a discussion the other day on "Why do I find Fifa22 that enjoyable?"

There are a lot of things that I look for in football games and this Fifa still lacks some of them.
Fouls would be great example. Normally - to me - game without fouls is an instant turn off. A gamebreaker. Here - Im not getting nearly enough fouls that Id like to.
Its actually quite bizarre, because normally, when a game has issues with fouls, its me who never gets them.
In here I do get fouls (not nearly enough mind you), but I never give them away.
In some matches I had 5/6 free kicks, while 0 for AI. Which is weird.

Anyway - ball physics next. Its really improved coming from 22. Some of the passes and shot are incredible.
But, like someone noticed above, sometimes there are these random rocket passes out of nowhere.
Sliders and full manual reduces the issue to almost none existent, but it still happens.

Wish there was less sliding and more inertia, wish there was more cards, wish players were off-form more often, rather than just receiving boosts.

So why do I like this so much? Its because of AI.
AI is really being overlooked in football games these days. In here they are really varied and unpredictable. They dribble, shoot from distance, pass smart, hold the ball, defend when winning, press when losing. Its the AI that makes this game. Its just fun to play against.

This also gives me hope. Even if they bring some changes for online players, even if they speed the game up... there's no reason really to touch the AI, coz this is purely for offline. So I hope that this game will stay decent, because CORE AI is good.
Brilliant, thanks for that.

What's the deal with that grey up arrow above some players heads, that stays visible during cutscenes?
Thats this Player Based Difficulty Indicator bollox. You should be able to switch it off in settings, but there's a bug and this monstrosity just wont go away.

One thing i got to agree : AI is by far more challenging than any previous Fifa, @Emroth is right
Now, just for the indication, i won't answer long but i'm used to Fifa movement. I don't "came" from PES. It's not at all like i'm a Fifa beginner and don't know the way players move, etc. but it's faster than ever, with not even agile midfielder from leeds.

Always buyed the two. The issue is i tried several sliders system, and sorry but i don't like that "streched" feeling. I don't like the fundamentals based on the game, the physics cannot be corrected by slider. There's should be "player's weight" "ball weight" instead of "ball speed" "player speed" etc. then i will agree.

I tried on multiple version, Ignite, and Frosbite. But the biggest issue is as far as i'm not an online player on PES : i'm a online player on Fifa, played offline cups and one league, but never career as i founded it super boring (caus' of the AI : now it's not a problem anymore so... It's a bit melted in my head)

So it's the vanilla game or nothing for me. I already explained tons of time than first : i don't like the sliders for tons of reasons, particularly because i don't want to have two games when i switch online. But also because everytime i tried, sorry but it really gotted me a feeling of "WTF", i mean the game was more watchable but to me (i repeat TO ME) by far less authentic : you feel that the game isn't made for being played like that.
Always played vanilla versions. I've made one exception by putting it on "slow".
And like someone said on the other thread, i came back to a PS4 game, an everything feelt much much more logical even if there was less animations. But the ball pace, heaviness of players, stats, defending.... I just prefers, and that's why played less and less Fifa until i didn't buyed for the first time the 21, only can compare with the 20.

BUT it's not a bad game at all. It's good as a game, simply a game, not a simulation or even action football etc. I will keep it and give it a chance. I played only 3 games on a friend house on Fifa 21 so i can't compare with it as i asked him if he didn't have others game and he said "yes i got MK11" i didn't have it. Then we played many games on it, and he showed me some games i don't have as i like to watch playing, like Ghost of Tsushima.
Also i will answer about one thing, i didn't "choosen" PES. It came back to me since the 2017. And a feeling or something you hate (but hate at a point that it's a gamebreaker for you) you can't change someone mind, except if you replace some piece of his brain. That's a perception reality/feeling/expectations vs game.

So instead of told me "you refuse to like it", which is totally false : i just got standards. AI is important, but not a priority to me. I want it to be challenging, variety will came after. I didn't founded any challenge in previous Fifa offline so, it's a good point.
And also, you can't tell me to play more when you trowed PES 2021 by the window after 3-4 games, i can tell you the same "play more, try to understand the game a bit more. You don't play it like it should" etc. etc. But you will answer to me i just don't feel the game, i don't like the slowdown feeling in animations etc.

Now there's a fact : i enjoy one from PS4 and got hard to enjoy the other from Next-gen. As a game, not a football game, simply. (it's been a long time i played the other in a session so. I even tried a FIFA 20 session too, but ended after 5 games when i totally smash a big team on Legendary with around 75 overalls teams)

Well i don't force anyone. But thanks a lot for the help about commands etc. / Just one thing, i retrieved my old FIFA habits about defending. Well, i got score like 4-4, let's say the average is 3-4 goals by game and don't get a single 0-0 after 15 games. Fouls i got it, even in vanilla version so no problem.
Last word: it's not entertaining me already, but i try. I won't make my football communist and try again sliders, now that the AI is finally challenging.
I always take the game as a "different way to represent the sport" so i just can't compare, and feel like comparisons doesn't worth it when i cames to gameplay as you have so much parameters to take in account and every are differently represented so...

Little late to the party, had mu first game today. Man Utd vs Everton, FUMA, professional difficulty. Had 9 fouls in the game, turned handballs always on so I had 2 penalties against me, score was 3-1 for Everton.
I am amazed of ball movement while in the air and especially player id, this game reminds me of pes 2013 when they introduced player id but in fifa 22 is like enhanced and all players feel and look different while on ball. Bruno Fernandes, Ronaldo, McTomminay all were good doing long passes, tried with Greenwood and clearly you can see the difference.
This game looks like finished fifa 21 on next gen, improved and implemented a lot of good stuff. Game feels calm at times which I like, almost boring and then something happens and game became interesting, just like in real life. I am impressed and glad that we have a game worth playing after konami's fiasco.
P.S. Calwert-Lewin is beast in this game

It's not possible to just play a regular season, say the premier league, with the cups/CL included, is it?
Why not? In 16 i played Europe league with Fulham.
haven’t tested that in 22 yet.

btw: it is just so nice and convenient that you can switch from regular gameplay to Sim Mode and right back from Sim mode to regular gameplay, on the fly. :APPLAUD: You can even jump to result.
i’m not sure what of that stuff I like was already in 21, but there’s a lot of minor stuff I really dig.

No I mean, you can't start a league and have the cups/CL/EL included as part of the schedule, like you can in PES.
I started a career with fullham in 16 and when I made it to the first league, I was able to play against Turkish teams in Europe league, when I ended that season on a top rank. What can I say?

You probably have it all available in career mode. But I like that you can just play through a season in Pes and have all that stuff included. When I pick Premier League as a tournament in Fifa, I get just that, the Premier League.

Nope mate, no problem for me on Legend, on Series X and PS5

It always been like that, you won't have anything that the season and the cup. Well it's more than PES have a special thing since i don't remember what version with the continuation of your league. If i remember : league mode wasn't in one PES or i don't know... But one thing is sure : they just transformed ML system to league mode, or League mode was the basis in term of structure for ML system. That's why the 2 are very similar.

Because, on every previous game and on Fifa, it was always the same on league mode : you play the league, the cup with it (i think you can choose cup matches or not) and that's all. It's more the normal thing in fact.

"Standards" is a well chosen term. To my standards, the progress in soccer games should target the immersion of the real thing - a game you need to look twice to make a difference to a tv broadcast. It goes hand in hand with the simulation approach.

Animations and physics are the most evident part of that. I think we can agree it is not technical barrier anymore and EA could easily get animations smoother and somewhat lifelike (as you can see in replays already). Only explanation is the preference for faster reaction times and catering the crowd. A decision in favor of accessibility, not simulation.

A big chance goes there, as FIFA22 made a progress on so many levels - but the most crucial one is still there and unfortunatly not to adress via settings or sliders.

Bought this for PS5 digital. CD Keys is so good. Bought two £35 codes for 62 quid and ordered it that way.
