FIFA 22 Discussion (Console Versions)

why is the standard edition of this game £69.99?
i have seen £51 cheapest (disk version) digital is always dearer and has no sell on value - i know it is easier to have digital but for sport games that renew every year i tend to buy disc as you will always get £10-15 back even after new release and if you dont like it, ruined by a patch you can get most of your money back through the year

madness. i've just seen you can get it on thegamecollections ebay site for £43 with a £10 discount code. i will do that i think.

i'd kinda rather wait to see what the reviews are from likeminded folk around AI, but that discount code expires in a few days and i doubt i'll see it that cheap for months after

Price on games drops really quickly nowadays.
Most €69 games are down 1/3 or even 50% within two months.
More so since the sales of disc's got lower and lower and Xbox/PS sells through their own platforms

Even FIFA? i always thought it had a GTA effect because it sells so well in the weeks following release

It's a global answer to people said AI never crosses, AI never make long shots. It does. Outside you're right it rare compare to real life and it's on FIFA code. I only can help that arrived more often.

And it's FIFA 21 nextgen footage, and I said many times that in FIFA 22 it's far better because of Hyper motion. I stop speaking, only FIFA 22 footage with crosses, shots will convinced people.

I hope in two days you will enjoy the game.
I'm not sure who said the CPU doesn't shoot from distance, or cross in FIFA 21. They do, more on World Class than Legendary and above. However, in 22, they do not always cross in the most obvious positions, they also do not shoot from distance - and that's on World Class even.

Hello Matt10, it's a honor to be quote by you, you do so much for the community!

That's right there are more crosses and long rang on World class than Legend in FIFA 22, but CPU tries to shot when it can.
When you said from distance, you mean outside the surface?

I will make more tests the 22th, if I got wrong I 'll apology.
In the stats I see shoots near the end of the surface and it's not free kick.
I have the chance to have PS5 and Series X so I'll have 20 hours on nextgen.
l'll post all there, but in the evening because i'm working.

From distance, yes, outside the 18-yard box at any point in time. I think out of the 50 matches I played on the beta, in both World Class and Legendary, there was 1 shot from distance, and it was off a missed clearance at the top of the box.

I'm just discussing the last state of the beta, and the feedback we gave. I hope it's different in the final build, or if something with sliders/settings can promote the CPU to shoot from that distance, but I'm not super optimistic.

Ok so i have seen a long shot a match on 2 so 30-40 long shots on 72 games. It's far from reality but I take it🤭. I played WC and Legend too. Zlatan has made 2 shoots from distance, i was amazed.😳

Yes i saw your feedback on the beta forum, we want more crosses more often and many many more faults from CPU. It's the biggest problem of the game. It was perfect on FIFA 20. Since, the referee is really bad! Like you i don't think it will happen soon, Fut players want to score again and again and they need Ray Charles's referee do to it😉

so i just go here: https://www.ea.com/en-gb/ea-play ...and sign up for 1 month subscription for 99 cent and i'm good to test play FIFA22 for 10 hours starting September 22nd?!

And you have seen nothing mate👌🤘
as an amateur keeper for over 20 yeas, and enjoying that manual keeper part in FIFA for a long time, i am really excited by this organic behaviour. those overhand saves just look amazing and appropriate. love it!

I'll spend the 15 bucks on a month of EA Play Pro so I can play without the 10-hour limitation on Wednesday. A month should give me ample time to decide and assuming I enjoy it, I'll pick it up when there's a decent sale. No matter how many times I've been burned, the release of a football game always gets me excited.

I feel for my European friends on here when it comes to prices. Prior to COVID, I would visit Europe several times a year and the prices for video games were horrendous. Then again, I suppose they're quite bad almost anywhere outside the US.

thought about it... but i know what i am looking for and whats imporatant to me. 10 hours is plenty of time for me to check on those things.

@eLPAtitoyUPI thank you! so the clock is running as soon as i start the game and it keeps on running till i end it manually? so would be better off not tinkering with the menus to much but just play the game?!

Correct, the timer is on from the moment you start the game to the moment you close it.

Be careful with leaving the game on and putting the console on rest mode / quick resume. Many people have complained that the timer continues to run in the standby mode and leaves you without time without you knowing.

The issue with the AI not crossing or shooting from distance, IMO, has a clear cause - it knows those things are pointless, in general.

I don't think it's an easy fix, because it's a consequence of a really messed-up engine. Follow this thread to the end:

It knows crosses have a much lower chance of resulting directly in a goal, and its objective is only to score once it's in the final third. It's not "thinking" like a human footballer, it's "thinking" like an eSports wanker looking for the exploit, to provide a challenge.

It's not trying to recreate football, it's trying to make the game difficult to win, and when it's so much easier to score than defend, this is why scorelines would be crazy - if not for the crazy auto-blocks from flying ninja-style defenders, deflecting every long-range shot away.

Once you know you can dribble easily around defenders because they are so *massively* disadvantaged versus attackers, and that shooting from range is fairly pointless, and that pulling the ball back from the edge of the six-yard box will always result in a tap-in, why would you do anything else?

Player attributes and team styles don't appear to restrict the ability to do this in any meaningful way, nor do they provide an advantage in playing differently. Passing is so accurate with every player, and defending so impossible, you just take it in turns attacking with possession never changing hands. So why would you, or the AI, ever do anything else - unless it's simply to give the ball away and very obviously "throw the game"?

In short - you have an engine that gives the attacker huge advantages and makes you feel like a god when you're dribbling (for "fun"), but then needs to balance it by not letting you score all the time, and because hitting a shot off-target is super-frustrating to their fanbase, the "fix" they've implemented is to have defenders sit deep and fly across the sky and deflect every shot out for a corner, if you don't play tiki-taka.

In other words... You've got an engine that's working ass-backwards, and an AI that understands that.

How do you properly fix that AI without completely changing how the game works?
