FIFA 22 Discussion (Console Versions)

Oh yes, I forgot I've been playing PES 2021 totally modded. The vanilla version is not that responsive, you´re right. Specially because the heavy scripting.
However, with the last gameplay mods (like Liberty Gameplay), it gains a lot of responsiveness. I honestly, play it because I'm amazed with the graphics and some natural movements it has.
I think FIFA 16 it's the best FIFA created until now, combining responsiveness + IA + natural moves.
If you like natural moves+IA and responsiveness, I think you will enjoy FIFA 22 nextgen. Not vanilla, but with some change, you will love it. Stay tune because on 22th of September, I hope you will enjoy my videos😉.

I'm a bit worried because I haven't seeing any videos of the retail game and it seems to not be "gold" for now

Natural moves + AI? In FIFA? Give me a break...

I am a next-gen player and I played a ton of hours of FIFA21 and I've seen all the gameplay videos for FIFA22, but the moves are anything but natural. Sure there are some good moments here and there and I like a lot of the changes they've done here, especially with M-Flow. But the passing animations and ball trajectories (except for the new switch-up play animation that they love to show time and time again... which indeed looks good) are still miles, miles behind PES21. And this is not to mention the ice-skating and ungodly speed at which players execute 180 deg. turns in FIFA, which from all the gameplay videos I've seen is still there. Also, the Midfielders still do not track back in defense.

Every year I spend a lot of time adjusting the sliders, and there is some good stuff in FIFA for sure, but don't go and say "If you like natural moves+IA and responsiveness, I think you will enjoy FIFA 22 nextgen". Even with slider changes, that is just dishonest and akin to throwing sand in people's eyes.

I have no doubt EA will fuck it up for final release.

What is EAs patching like? With Konami most patches improved the game is it like that with EA and do they patch as often as Konami?

Beginning to hate this alphabet letter ' e '🤦‍♂️

The EA patch that ruined the game is mostly a myth in the last 3-4 years. Game was always crap from launch but it takes a couple of patches to realize, so a patch is blamed. It can always get even worse with patches, but ruined? nah.

The last time it was relevant in my eyes was with FIFA 19. I enjoyed the demo and launch version quite a bit, then the October patch hit and it was drastic decline from there on out. In recent memory, FIFA 16, 17, 18, and 19's gameplay degraded due to subsequent patches.

Yes, I agree that all those got worse with patches, but I couldn't get into 18 & 19 at all. For me it was like 20, when at some point they nerfed AI jockey even more by making it even more delayed. Was is worse? Absolutely, but it wasn't what killed the game for me, there was just no defending to speak of anyway. Later we even found a way to reverse this exact change by modding some file, didn't make a difference to my enjoyment of the game!

On the other hand I can still enjoy 16 & 17 even fully patched. I don't know, maybe a small change does ruin things for someone, but for me the good games are still good even patched.

(Edit: in a random interview I've seen the producers state that they couldn't just patch 19 to remove AI tracking back/defending -yes it was requested and considered even back then!- because they would need to rebalance everything. So, the basic design is mostly set in stone. It's just minor tweaking until the next year. 22 is similarly done now, no one should expect radical changes with a patch).

still, by far.... my favorite EA video of all time is this:

never gets old! never! :D

As an aside, it's marvellous feat of marketing. It's very 90s, and very dated. But they've ploughed on to create something so ubiquitous you could probably shout "EA SPORTS" on most streets in the world and someone would shout back "IT'S IN THE GAME".

I have played FIFA 22 beta, you don't.
I have used my sliders, you don't.
I have recorded 72 matches on the beta, you don't.

Gameplay is with a pad, not with your eyes only...

I know all videos look s**t, as usual. FIFA 21 nextgen is out since december, 99% of the videos look crap too.

The midfields track back in FIFA 22 beta. If you don't believe me, that's ok.
If you have EA play, you can judged by yourself.
There is still skaking, but a few, it depends of the speed.
A lot of people said that AI didn't cross or shoot from outside the surface. I have seeing long ranges in 3 matchs on 4 and every time I have seen crosses...

Weird, I played the PS5 beta and I rarely saw the Legendary AI shoot from outside the area or cross the ball. It was always them attempting to pass their way into the net (or very direct, pinpoint through balls to the striker akin to PES 2020 and PES 2021). Granted, I didn't use your specific sliders.

I think his solution was playing on professional. The AI makes more mistakes, like shooting from outside the box. Which is of course a mistake in fifa. In general playing football in fifa is playing it wrong so it makes sense.

You then have to balance things out by playing with one hand though cause it might be a bit easy to win.

No i played on legendary and World class. FUMA 8 minutes.
Did you have crosses and long ranges on FIFA 21 nextgen ?

My only memory of that game is exiting with ALT-F4 after half an hour and throwing my monitor out of the window, didn't buy the full game of course. It's by far the worst game I've ever played. And 22 doesn't look much better. And you can tell a whole lot just by watching, it's not rocket science.

Maybe but when you play online and it’s great and then thet patch it and it’s horrendous. There something in it.

16 was great when it released, then day if the patch the defenders were like Bambi on ice.

Oh I will be playing it next Wednesday. Hopefully you are right about everything but I don’t want to get my hopes up because 23 years of football gaming have taught me otherwise. Also, can you show me a video example on CM’s tracking back in the beta? Or will I also need a gamepad to judge that?

EA every year kills our hope with a patch or a strange retail version. It's my first bêta so i don't know if in the retail version my sliders will work.

Since FIFA 18, you can stop Tiki Taka from AI when you increase passes error. For having more crosses, I slowdown speed passes.

When AI has to control more the ball, i don't know why but it shots more from everywhere on the field if he has enought time. When you see more crosses you will see more centers too.

I have found a combinaison still FIFA 20.
Midfields didn't track back in FIFA 21 nextgen, sliders couldn't fixed that. But when I apply my sliders after 3 matches, with FUMA settings, I have no problems. I don't know if FUMA settings fixed that. I hope Everybody could enjoy the game.

It's not perfect, because of lack of faults and other things but it's a good step foreward on nextgen. I think you will appreciate the new animations. The game is more organic, have a feeling of PES.

I can't post videos because of NDA but the 22th September everybody can test the game and I hope it will be good.

CM's dont track back anywhere near as much as DM's.

In the roles window set you DM's to play in between the CB's, Have him or them staying back when attacking, Aggressive interceptions and cover the centre it works a treat!

Fair enough! Thanks for the info, although I don’t see how FUMA would have anything to do with the issue of CM’s not tracking back, but I will definitely try those things out.

Sure, but that’s a super bandaid type solution, if only my team’s DMs track back but the CPU’s won’t it still ruins the experience. I wouldn’t mind switching sides and controlling the CPU team though but I’m not sure if that’s possible in career mode.

Not really it's part of the tactics. Football is not played like it is in the 90s anymore the game is alot more open and generally constant counter attacks.

You want to be defensive play with 2 DM's no point in saying its a band aid solution when thats what DM's do in real life.

You want to switch to CPU side when attacking? You would be better off just not playing the game that sounds a nightmare you will be constantly in a pause menu.
