FIFA 22 Discussion (Console Versions)

So you don’t do training and just do matches so your players are getting better stats only by playing matches? Never heard of that.
the training (even simulated) is essential to me when evolving players. 3rd season and one player (for example) had an increase in ovr stats by 5-10… that’s ok with me. What’s wrong here? What am I not getting?!

Like what?! how can you choose a grade? Aren’t they awarded randomly by the way you choose the kind of training your player does?!

i wish I had a guide showing me what training sessions do, as I sometimes have B and F ratings for the same training session advised only 2 weeks apart.
Do you play the training drills yourself once? When you get an A grade, it sticks forever for that particular drill in that career save.

When you are doing the training, play it. And once you achieve a grade it will stay like that when you sim it again. If you don't play the training and just sim, it will be random grades every week

 that is so good to know and helpful as F! I did not know, so thank you guys very much.
ill do training myself then once for each player... I gave those manual training sessions a try back on the days but always was simming later on and hoping for the best.

so good there is still stuff in the game I need to learun/did not know of! love it.

Guys this gameplay is looking a little bit better. Still not good enough but maybe EA can make this game better with another updates, especially for AI.

Only watched the first half but I really like the frailty of the goalkeepers in this version, I've seen people saying they are terrible and you could certainly argue Oblak would always save that first goal, but I just think it makes it so much more exciting when it feels like anything could happen. The problem with high scoring games shouldn't be fixed with "superkeepers", it should be fixed by making it harder to get shots off in the first place. (Not saying the keepers couldn't be tweaked, but I don't see the need for radical change).

They've really butchered the animation on the altar of responsiveness though. It seems mad when the whole premise of FIFA 22 was supposed to be animation fidelity. One of the big problems is the amount of movement/dribbling modifiers, they've obviously not been able to find a way to incorporate all these mechanics while at the same time maintaining visual realism, and so what I see all the time is people entering/exiting skills/agile dribbling (or whatever it's called nowadays) and the game not trying to transition properly, it just immediately plays the next movement/pass/kick animation so that there is no input delay, which makes it look like they are sliding, when you get people using all of the available mechanics in quick succession the game looks like an absolute eyesore.

Since playing a few more games, just via Kick-Off mode. (The patch broke my career game)
I have now kind of learnt to defend a little bit, to either push the AI to a bad shooting position or just better defending.

Either way once you learn to sort of defend, the game is just soooo easy even on Legendary.

There are a few issues with the game they need to fix, which I will probably post in here and on the official EA forums.
But the game needs massive improvements, which are not going to happen as they are going down the FUT route and not the simulation route.

But the biggest most noticeable issue for me is obviously the CB's now play FB.
And they seriously need to fix the animations, both for keepers and players.
The keepers look so unnatural and dive very weirdly in the game now, that it just looks so wrong.
People have also always mentioned skating in FIFA, which TBH I only ever noticed about every 3/4 games - Now I am noticing it about 4/5 times a half, the players are skating all over the place and it is probably due to the complete inhuman ways they control, pass the ball and sprint.
You should edited your gamertag mate
What's your settings? FUTO/Semi or FUMA?

What am I not getting?!
The fact I can't skip training and just do press conferences, player conversations and matches like you could do with FIFA 18, 19 etc.

Training was seperate, you didn't have to mess with it at all if you didn't want to. In FIFA 21, I'm sitting there "R3, Advance, R3, Advance" until I get to the match. It's tedious as hell!

Yes - I can use Calendar - advance to matchday. But when I do that, I miss lots of press conferences and player chats.

what else I got take care of?!

Wtf is just that at minute 2:09? That’s why I cannot like this game, it’s has so unrealistic body movement, inertia, and momentum of players that the iceskating turns me off the moment I grab myself controller. And seeing in videos it’s even worse. With all the technology EA have available how can they not (or better do not want to) simulate this in a more real fashion, baffles me.
This is like tony hawk + nhl join forces and then they put a foot ball in the middle. I will try the game definitely with the 10 hour GPU and EA play provides, but seeing this gameplay videos just reminds me why I can’t like FIFA gameplay at all. Add to that the lack of knowledge in football positioning and play styles of FIFA games and you have an explosive mix of something that I cannot call football.

how can someone that really likes football, that watch football on TV, and plays football wether be with friend on weekends or in Sunday league or even professionally call this football simulation is Beyond me.

Just watched AngryJoe rip on Madden 22. The things EA pull off to dupe gamers is truely baffling. All that marketing buzz words were barely implemented ingame, i dont expect anything different from fifa.

Yeah, I was listening to spawn wave podcast and although they are predominantly just gamers and not sports enthusiasts. They were saying that Madden is the worst it has ever been and barely resembles American Football..

Not just Footy they are making a pigs ear of.

I subscribed EA Play for a month to try FIFA 21 (PS5). That game is unplayable when defending. I cannot defend in any way. Midfielders are always out of the game. No defensive coverage, no construction support. I'm using slider settings from Operation Sports forum. The speed is more realistic with sliders but the feeling is so bad. I hope FIFA 22 could be better.

I'm using the same sliders on XB1X so last gen, but I can't deal with defending as well. Are you using tactical or legacy defending?

I don't play FIFA since FIFA 17 so I don't remember very well how tactical defending works. So for the first matches I'm using legacy defending. I'll switch to tactical in the next days. The problem for me is that I cannot position the defender body as I would. The defender seems to slide away on the ice. No way to steal the ball from the side of the striker or using body weight.

What i have done on Ps5 (FIFA21) and ill assume it will be the same is on top of my sliders for prem teams i have edited the team sheets formations so the teams only have a max of one bar on the players in the box. On the graphic it shows just one player but that isn't the reality they will still have 2 or 3. Also run frequency to zero for me and AI. This now seems to balance it all out. If the tactics are like 4 bar for players in the box plus 50 RF that is why its so hared to pick up runners using the 1 on 1 defending. ill try and post a video later

I played FIFA 21 again last night and if FIFA 22 is remotely like it's predecessor then I'm not touching it with a bargepole.

FIFA in its current state is an absolutely dreadful game. It's just not enjoyable to me. I can play PES 5, PES 2017, FIFA World Cup 2010 (the best FIFA ever IMO) and even PES 2018 and have fun. But FIFA has been a depressingly bad experience since FIFA 18.

It looks good, it has all of the bells & whistles - but the actual gameplay is so pointless. Players feel light and floaty, there's zero midfield play and even with sliders applied it still looks and feels all over the damn place.

It's never going to reach the heights of FIFA World Cup again. Not a chance in hell. The FUT players would storm the EA HQ with their pitchforks. Even when PES is bad, it's still a more enjoyable experience than this mess. No more FIFA ever again for me, it's wont change.

I couldnt play Fifa 21. Hated it. Ive played this beta more than Fifa 15 to 21 combined i reckon.

Is it as good as Fifa 10 WC or PES 5? No its not but is it the best football game since WC10? Probably although that could change after the day 1 patch.

Right now if the gameplay stays the same is it worth a buy to play for the year as theres not been any great football games for years? Defo although you need to use the new camera to get the most out of it as i tried the old cams last night and it felt way to fast and had that horrible fifa feeling the new camera is a game changer for the series.

The thing with 21 (and I've tried trust me I've tried) is regardless how you set up your sliders , you'll never get the CPU to cross and take outside shots.
That's the biggest flaw in this game.
It's 90% fast paced short passes and tap ins inside the box.
Like a futsal game.
Completely broken.
And that's me coming from FIFA 20

It's just bizarre to me how we seem to be happy with "playable" rather than "enjoyable". I know things are bad, but they will only get worse if we accept it...
Whilst I agree, I think people use the term playable as the baseline of their enjoyment. It's not playable if you're getting zero enjoyment surely?

I mean, I'm not playing FIFA or PES currently for this very reason 😂

Ive seen a few shots from the edge of the area but not enough for sure, crossing ive seen quite a bit as i conceded a header from a cross earlier. I will do a broadcast later see what happens

Still not at an acceptable level ,you just have to go back to FIFA 20 to have all that ,were the CPU actually plays football ,not futsal.
20 has other issues ,but most can be fixed to an acceptable level with sliders ,this can't!
By far the least representative football (modern) game ever made.
And if 22 is closer to 20 ,I'll be interested ,but if close to 21 it's a no go. (Didn't buy 21 either)

Yeah i couldnt play a game i get no enjoyment from. Bought Metro Exodus the other night and 3 hours in i deleted it off the Hard Drive dire.

FIFA 20 is dreadful as well in my opinion. I forgot that I own it digitally on PS4 and downloaded it last week. I enjoyed the first few matches but then the same old issues rear their ugly heads. The CPU doesn't play football - it just pings the ball around at 100 mph. Yes it's better than FIFA 21 but nearly every FIFA release is.

FIFA on Frostbite Engine is bad and has been since FIFA 17. FIFA 14, 15 and 16 were very good games despite their issues. EA could have built on those - instead, we've now got a football game on an engine that everyone hates, even the FUT crowd.

I'd love FIFA to go back to Ignite - but do any developers use that engine now?

FIFA 22 is a mix of FIFA 21 and FIFA 20 :

* Rythme of FIFA 20
*More look like a football game than FIFA 20
*Headers like FIFA 20 : hard to master but enjoyable
*Better animation than FIFA 21
*The best ball physics on a FIFA game!!
*Career mode like FIFA 21
*Less sliding than FIFA 20/21
*GK of FIFA 20, with better animations

FIFA 22 gameplay is very fun and less arcade than FIFA 21nextgen.
I have made now 53 games on the beta, half games were incredibles with so much stress and feel real.
Hypermotion is a gamechanger, it's the big feature this year.
