FIFA 22 Discussion (Console Versions)

I don't compare to PES / But all others footballs games i played one day or another.
It was a good friend until the 17 (switched some versions or found some bad, but i played it with not too much problem)

Can't compare both, feeling is so different, like current Mortal Kombat XI and Street Fighter V : both are fighting games arcade, but so different that i can't found similitudes to makes a + and - about the two, i took that example, i could've choose Tekken 7. But no : Tekken 7 is a 3D fighting game style, while the two others are 2D gameplay. But hyper different in all aspect.
 
FIFA is clearly a different game than PES. The gameplays are so different.
So if you hate FIFA 20, you will maybe hate FIFA 22.

1 vs 1 appears on FIFA 21. It's very hard to master on defense, on FUMA, more easy on FUTO and semi I think. A lot of people hate that.
FIFA 21 have a lot of issues and with 1 vs 1, it was the cherry on the cake : fastpace game, bad GK, Bad referee, no more auto defence, thé community hate so much this game.

If you want to appreciate a FIFA game since the legendary FIFA 16, there is only one option : calm down the global speed. If you don't, it will be a goal fest game.

On FIFA 20, i started to go into sliders. From crash, i played 10 matchs with the vanilla game and I took some videos to analysed what are the issues and if I can fixed it with sliders or not.
In one week, the game was more playable and I wanted to play game after game. AI when you slowdown the game is really more clever. You appreciate it on career mode. With Marseille, i play against Lille who played a different style of game than St Etienne or PSG . I was happy and I wanted to share my sliders to thé community, with some videos to show than FIFA could be fun and a more realistic game.

FIFA 21 has a lot of issues too. Always lake of faults, but no center After World class level, dub midfields, etc... When I have access to the beta of FIFA 22, i can see if the game have changed.
On vanilla, it's hard to see the difference.

After 5 matchs, i apply my FIFA 21 nextgen sliders and wow it's a totally différent game. I can see now the motion capture 11 vs 11, you see teamate attitude ; midfield go back, marking is wotlrking, GK are useful. Damned it was not only marketing, they fixed a lot of issues.
You will see massive skating only if you play fast because hypermotion I think has not enought time to activate the good animation.

Inertia is back if you slowdown the game, the excessive responsiness of the game kills inertia if you play fast, no inertia.

It was a long writting but i would like to explain my philosophy. I know many people will hate FIFA 22. I only hope that some people will discover a different game that they will enjoy with sliders. It's not perfect but playable.

Are celebrations still too short in Fifa? I played 21 and the goal celebrations were cut too short. PES also has the same problem. Makes scoring feel less rewarding.

For me problem was replays, not celebrations. Especially if the goal was scored from a rebound. They were usually just showing last kick, disregarding how whole situation occurred. Replays were really bad in Fifa.

That sounds annoying! I didn't play 21 enough to remember this. Didn't enjoy that game at all.

With PES going backwards. Fifa is the only choice at the moment. EA have the resources/tech to make something great but always fall short.

They need to either give us offline players more in depth sliders or create a sim mode.
 
Slightly off topic but not...
When I was watching a video about the shooter “hell let loose” and how that game is playing and for what audience it’s made for... I had to think of the soccer franchises.
They did compare HLL to Battlefield and how HLL can achieve gameplay stuff that isn’t possible because BF has to be mass market compatible.
To me that’s kinda the same situation we are in, only we don’t have a dedicated sim (not even on PC) to fall back to.
After watching that video and thinking about it a bit more... yeah, it’s not looking to good for users hoping for a real simulation of the sport.
Just my thoughts.

Goal celebrations were at peak back in ps2 era.

None of the ps3 generation fifa games and onwards have good camera working with goal celebrations. Infact to me, fifa reached their peak in cutscenes on their 6th generation consoles then never managed to reach that same standards.

Guys this gameplay is looking a little bit better. Still not good enough but maybe EA can make this game better with another updates, especially for AI.

 
A video that demonstrates the 'feel' would be quite something. A video that allows people to shit all over something because that's the narrative they enjoy every year seems more likely.
So... videos of non-existent AI defending on the highest difficulties is a "narrative we enjoy" and not just, ya know, proof of a gamebreaking issue?

I put Match of the Day last night. Turned it off before they showed Spurs beating Watford. Just a video that allows people to enjoy the anti-Watford narrative and shit on them. Best to ignore it.

And the criticism is unfair after all videos of non existing defending ,ice skating ,ping pong passing from the CPU ?

How come Simeone is so calm at the side line?! That ain’t right, I call fake! :LOL:
it does look a bit better but still animations are skipped so it gets more hectic and looks unnatural.
 
Since playing a few more games, just via Kick-Off mode. (The patch broke my career game)
I have now kind of learnt to defend a little bit, to either push the AI to a bad shooting position or just better defending.

Either way once you learn to sort of defend, the game is just soooo easy even on Legendary.




There are a few issues with the game they need to fix, which I will probably post in here and on the official EA forums.
But the game needs massive improvements, which are not going to happen as they are going down the FUT route and not the simulation route.

But the biggest most noticeable issue for me is obviously the CB's now play FB.
And they seriously need to fix the animations, both for keepers and players.
The keepers look so unnatural and dive very weirdly in the game now, that it just looks so wrong.
People have also always mentioned skating in FIFA, which TBH I only ever noticed about every 3/4 games - Now I am noticing it about 4/5 times a half, the players are skating all over the place and it is probably due to the complete inhuman ways they control, pass the ball and sprint.

The old format re: training was fine. Also, the pre-match screen is shit. I have to go to ‘customise’ to change kits first. It’s all so unnecessary and over complicated.

I would want to have an option to turn off player growth for the same reason.
I've seen players in various FIFA's go from 77-84 within two seasons.

What I do is, I purposely do my training on C ratings so that it doesn't boost my players up too much, but it maintains sharpness

So you don’t do training and just do matches so your players are getting better stats only by playing matches? Never heard of that.
the training (even simulated) is essential to me when evolving players. 3rd season and one player (for example) had an increase in ovr stats by 5-10… that’s ok with me. What’s wrong here? What am I not getting?!

Like what?! how can you choose a grade? Aren’t they awarded randomly by the way you choose the kind of training your player does?!

i wish I had a guide showing me what training sessions do, as I sometimes have B and F ratings for the same training session advised only 2 weeks apart.
