FIFA 22 Discussion (Console Versions)

Absolutely shocking. This clip is against the AI on Legendary. The human player being the team who have three players stood in the box for ten seconds, while the AI defenders literally stand around NOT EVEN LOOKING AT THEM.

You can jog up and down the wing for ten minutes, and it'll still look like that in the middle.

I can't believe my eyes.
Recently I've decided to play some older football games, mostly 8-bit and 16-bit, I've even managed to actually go all of the way and win the World Cup in the following titles:

World Cup Italia '90 (Sega Genesis); TECMO World Cup '92 (Sega Genesis); World Cup Italia '90 (Sega Master System); TECMO World Cup '93 (Sega Master System); TECMO World Cup Soccer (Nintendo Entertainment System).

All of them very basic, so basic that not a single one of them has fouls implemented, so they're all far from being realistic simulations. That goes for their AI too, very simple for both the player and the CPU, and yet I've never seen a defence so disinterested and static before, not even in those 8-bit and 16-bit games where the whole 1v1 theme we have now was more prevalent, especially due to technical limitations, in all of the titles I've mentioned earlier, when I'm close to their box, or inside their box, I'm closed down, challenged, tackled, etc... even if their AI is simple, the defenders there seem to actually care about the match they're in, while here it just looks like they really wanted to go home. We've gone backwards.

If it's based on PES 2021 basis then "yes". Perhaps visually in terms of animations a bit basic, but at least playable. Balanced.
To me at least, well i'll be happy if that not a reduced but enhanced PES 2021 in terms of variety at least.

I'm just waiting 2022 a brand new game called "No Goals", with physical and digital buy, which will does the complete opposite of the "Kurt's from fifa", but "Russel from PES" who is also an actor on his free time (figured in a small movie called New York 1997)

I have watched the whole game on a big screen and it is so bad that it is even quite hard to describe it…

I can confirm it looks like the worst football game in history even on a small screen. So changing your tv or monitor won't fix anything. Adjusting the brightness slider to zero makes it a bit more tolerable to look at, but still no fouls or shots from outside the box. 😅

EA are building and building on the top of their code, and the base has gone from "cracks starting to show" to "crumbling to bits".

There are so many in-gameplay systems fighting each other, and so many shortcuts (like "defensive awareness" being the only stat that makes a defender be a decent defender) that the game is more broken than it's ever been.

On top of that, not only are EA making one gameplay model (and crucially, one AI model) for:

Kick Off (inc. "House Rules")
Manager Career
Player Career
FUT
Online Seasons
Pro Clubs
Volta (inc. Futsal)
Skill Games

(Let alone co-op versions of those modes, and "competitor mode" offline, and "default" boosted or "classic" attributes...

...AND tactics vs player ability, which is simply overriden by "tiki-taka for all", AND manual pass/shot options having no impact on AI play)

But you now have "Volta Arcade", categorically the worst thing I've ever seen (but it's getting a lot of love).

You just can't balance all of this stuff in one title. If you prioritise one (i.e. FUT) and bolt everything else onto the same gameplay model, it's going to be shit.

Especially when priority #2, after FUT, are these yearly additions like "Volta Arcade" because of the microtransaction potential.

Even the ball physics are optimised for competitive play. Passes are heat-seeking missiles that defenders can't stop, but shots react like a bag of sand, or a balloon in slow-motion (in the first bit of the video above, you can see this).

I just can't believe how bad this game is.

no wonder ea are looking at recruiting more staff.

this game is an abomination of the sport of football.

gone are the good days of humber and rutter.

the geeks of zaro and the fut gamechanger dorks are in full control now and this is the game they want......

instant responsivness, no defending, no tackles, no fouls, no cdm tracking back, just pure 1 v1, skills and goals.

How in the world are they going to make the gameplay model same on Volta and an 11v11 match in a stadium?? This likely will be a huge mess , they are either stupid or lazy. Or both

It's this bad and yet still when they talk about career mode improvements like stadium creation and copy+pasted Journey features in player career people still seem receptive to it and think they're putting in effort for offline players.

Even if the career mode were superior and more realistic in every way compared to FM I would have no interest in playing even one 40-50 match season full of this shit gameplay with goals like in the clip there. Wouldn't even make it to half time in the first match. Couldn't care less what they do to career mode as long as the gameplay/AI is in this state.

Manmachine I have tried to quote your name but something is going wrong on my smartphone 😆

Hahaha that’s true man, even on my smartphone it looks very bad but when you will put the video on close to 80”-100” then you will realise very easily how bad this anti football look 😬

And that whole formations moving back so deeply into their own box that you lose your awareness of who your goalkeeper is.

I remember when I was 10 years old with my mates we have been playing very similar game as the one in FIFA 22 when every defender is in their own box going back constantly (even my 10 years old mates have been more aggressive than monkeys from fifa) and attackers are passing the ball between each other where there is a rule that you can score a goal only if you will take a first touch shoot.
Maybe EA are testing some mini games in their beta full 11v11 “football” match ? 😂

Seriously, I would love this game to be beautiful in terms of gameplay, for me it doesn’t matter if it will happen with EA or Konami I just want a proper football video game because we all deserve it !

So many years of people’s around here and other forums who have been always so determined and happy to help with editing and making these games better and better mostly making the better job and more of good for a game than these joke companies.

They thinking only about money and OK, understandable. But we have 2021 and we have technology. We deserve a proper football game and then I am happy to pay £70 or even £100 for a game but put your passion and effort (if you have any 😳) in making this football game. They are amateur without passion at all, this is what I think.

Last time anyone made a football game from passion was on PS2 and I am waiting already 15 years for a fun and addictive football game where it can be as realistic as our current technology let us to make it.

With every each game from last 15 years there was always something broken which was in the back of your head while playing it 😂

Is it really that hard EA or is it fun to keep spreading false advertising about BIG changes in series of FIFA every each year which of course in 70% aren’t in the game at least in a way EA describing it and counting money after the sales ?

This game is selling because of three things: football being the most popular sport, kids who don’t understand football mostly from very obvious reasons as for example lack of playing on the school field by themselves, licenses.
If not these three things this game would be a trash and a mobile game.

Sometimes I have a feeling that most of their promoting and advertising the game are bullshit, all about their new systems which are a game changers for gameplay etc
If we will look at the game and play on release day there is always exactly the same or very similar feeling to gameplay. So where are all the gameplay systems they are advertising by every each year ?

They are businessman’s without passion and a proper knowledge and practical knowledge of football 🤷🏻‍♂️

First part I agree. Second part - not sure. There are people there who have football knowledge. Its a choice. Game looks and plays the way it plays because EA wants it this way. There's more and more pressure from people and neither community is happy with the gameplay, so its possible that they will eventually split the offline and online gameplay. Dont think sliders will cut it anymore.
AI has to be different for both modes.
Sliders themselves are not enough to fix this mess.
For me next year is going to be decisive. If there's no changes by F23 - its over.
In the meantime - ill continue my Fifa16 career.

It might look like they have the knowledge but if the game is like it is now and almost every each year I am not sure.
Career mode have the biggest fan base I believe so it’s easy to chose the most important direction to work on and it is offline gameplay.

Yeah, fingers crossed for next year and big changes. Hopefully EA people’s are checking evoweb and reading all of this.

I thought Rutter was still there but see he left in 2019. Wonder what he thinks of the user AI in Fifa. He must be left scratching his head at the mess the game is in gameplay wise.

only way for this game to improve would be to gut the production crew and do away with the gamechangers.
if they wish to play with packs all day, create a game solely for themselves or just tellem to go and buy match attacks cards.

they are the reason that this game is shite. mchardy, zero, rielly and all the useless gamechangers

Just look at this gameplay:

So weird how Juve play here, always trying to make some world record number of passes before even attempting a goal, watching this video actually makes me hope for a damn long ball from the keeper all the way to the front man, along with all the skating it makes me feel like I am watching a Harlem Globetrotters video. Then there is the ball which switches between Jupiter gravity on the ground and Moon gravity in the air, this whole thing is just a mess

But you cant forget about revenue. Thats priority. And thats FUT. Career Mode people buy the game and thats it. FUT people are constantly spending money. If they like fast gameplay with plenty of goals, one that's easy to learn and does not require thinking - they will spend more. Matches are almost like Action Packed Cut Scenes for them, in between opening packs, which is their main goal.
Gameplay goes where money flows, simple as that.

Having said that - its difficult to ignore the numbers and pressure from offline players. And the only possible solution, at this stage, is split gameplay. Which wouldnt be hard to do and EA had it before - option to switch between Arcade and Sim.
They kept trying to keep both communities happy with one gameplay, but its impossible. And at this stage there is no going back really. They changed too many things to fix them with small tweaks. And they got to a point where it really does not resemble football anymore. So their only way out is to introduce separate AI offline.

If having separate mode will increase their fifa revenue by 50% they will do it right away.. :D

I wouldnt say 50%, but how many people in here didnt buy Fifa last few years due to gameplay?
I bought both - 20 and 21 but both on Sale, as I knew gameplay wont let me enjoy it for more than a season.
F21 I bought for 5€, same with F20. Would I spent 70quid if I knew offline gameplay is acceptable? Abso-fucking-lutely. Im sure there would be a noticeable increase if they gave us something. And this is just an entry point. More people would be tempted to try other modes, possibly even purchase a pack or two.
So its not like there is nothing to gain here.

Beta Patch downloading right now!
These are the genuine patch notes, under GAMEPLAY:
  • Added some fixes to help lobbed through balls being overpowered
  • Adjusted the defensive shape in the final third to be slightly wider to create more space in the penalty area
  • Re-tuned the goalkeeper mostly on the higher attribute end to allow more goals

I've been laughing for the last ten minutes.

That is fantastic patch news..
Exactly what the game needed.
+ GK let in more goals? They don't save anything anyway.

Ive had a few games with my 10 year old son. Defence seems a bit better but im pretty sure on multiplayer your AI is set to a higher AI level than when playing AI

Keepers no longer catch every single corner which is vastly improved.

Can also play on the good cam on multiplayer as well now after the update as it was only old school cams before (bugged)

Think it might feel slightly faster although that could be cause its multiplayer.

Lol, 0:40
That's all you need to know about this piece of... Also pay attention to the animations. 40 seconds of this gameplay was enough for me

Tried it again and your CB's now play as if they are paid with your full backs.
The only way to combat this is to play with a maximum of 20 for width when defending.

Interesting. The wee man played a through ball v me and my CBs were miles apart while his attacker was clear through on goal. Only happened once but i was thinking wtf is going on there!!

They will have busy month until release, even fut players started to complain about positioning of the players. This looks lreally amateurish from EA. Can't understand how they view actual gameplay on the screen. This passes with lighting speed are ridiculous, what are they thinking?

The whole tiki taka phase of modern football games will never be over. For EA and KONAMI, Tiki taka football with 1000+ passes before goal from all the different teams regardless of their team style = BEST innovative flawless AI ever
