FIFA 22 Discussion (Console Versions)

I have made a nice Leeds vs United. Damned the defenders were anger I like that. Varanne was tackle in my side. Two injuries for me, and more contacts or air battles on corner, very nice. I'll try later but I like this patch. Everything looks ok.

Sounds promising! Will try when I get chance... Got my 9 year old for the next two days doubt I will get chance to play... Unless I introduce him to the game so I can kick his ass!
ive done that with my 7 year old who is also footy mad - we have some great games against each other and also co op

What do you think of online games in the Stadia version? I haven't tried a single one yet. Is it too frantic?
I like them. They are default speed so it might seem a bit faster if you are used to offline. Also depends on your opponent. I've had players play nice and slow looking for opening, but I've also had ppl who just push and bomb away end to end. I would think besides matchmaking community numbers, online is the same as in consoles

I think they nerfed pass accuracy..
Im frequently getting AI below 80%, which never really happened before, regardless of teams that I used.

Same online. I always had pass accuracy around 75% mark playing on manual.
Now I didnt get above 70%.
I really, really like it...

might be partly due to the patch but really... i cant stress enough how important it is to let the AI play football! and when the user does the same... it all unfolds so differently! :)

edit: or what else do i make of my 70-75% AI pass accu before patch nr. 2?! if the patch really changed things... i might drag the AI down to 60% now!

This is excellent now. I mean, it felt good before, but a hardened AI in terms of physicality takes it up another notch. Way too early to call, but if this continues and isn't deconstructed by later patches, a new era is at hand.

Everyone is using different settings, different sliders, different teams, leagues, difficulties.
Im talking about my experience and I havent changed my playstyle overnight.
Also - I did mention playing online, where I also noticed accuracy difference. So its not just AI.

Also - its feels less twitchy and inertia seems to be back to where it was. Probably thats why matches feel more fluid. Its easier and more natural to wrong foot the players now.

..and maybe thats why accuracy is down?
Coz your body position and balance is important again.

Its all very subtle, but Im having same fun as I was when the game was released + fouls.

I never really stopped enjoying it, but after second patch it just felt that some of it was missing. Kinda like F16 after patches. It was still solid, it was still fun, but a bit less... natural. Now its back.

..at least till next patch..

I can corroborate particularly on this part! After three games the sense of inertia, with respect to both the ball and the players seems as good as it was before, if not even better.

What does worry me a little though is that this is something that EA never mention touching, even in their super detailed patch notes... It makes me wonder if changes on this side are simply knock on effects to other issues they attempt to fix. Regardless, first impressions after the patch are really good!

Sliders addiction has been a problem since the mide 1990's my friend

(I have not seen a single episode of this but I felt there was a joke in there so here we are. Sorry.)
i was watching that as a teen! :D ...and i am not ashamed of doing so!

today i have to say, FIFA sliders are my favorite. a couple of years ago i would've voted for white castle! :D

btt, i totally forgot i made a private IT appointment to help out a friends dad with his security cams today... man, it will be 7pm till i'm home! :CALM:

btw: i was watching @Matt10 live on twitch last night, when he was testing a new set of burger! ;) that was super interesting to me, to get a look into his head while hes playing! loved it! pretty nerdy stuff i agree... but hey... its fun for me! Matt did answer questions from the viewers too.
never used the twitch app much but its really nicely done, with the chat and zooming in videos and stuff...

☝️this. 100%.
Same as they never mentioned that they are tweaking it last time, when overall inertia and hypermotion seemed to be dumbed down.
Hence Im afraid that this will not stay there forever. This new system of background/live fixes is a dangerous thing. They can tweak game speed and animations without saying anything, just to please the online crowd.

I like the way they are slowly trying to separate the gameplay online Vs AI.
If Competitive AI is turned ON - the new fouls addition will not be present in offline matches.
And Competitive is always ON when playing Online. (Apart from friendlies).
I hope this is the direction they will go in the future. If they can Code more AI behaviours and gameplay elements into NON-Competitive Gameplay to keep Online the way online players want - its a win for both sides.

The only issue will be overall speed and animations, which hopefully we'll be able to correct ourselves.

Its not ideal, but its a small step in right direction.

Yeah it seems solid and somehow its back to having really nice flow.
I did spent some time on World Class difficulty, as it felt too easy on Professional. But on World Class 98% of the time it felt great and then AI was suddenly stringing 20 laser guided passes up until they scored. Reminded me frustration I had in Master League. Now - Professional is nicely balanced again. Had a great second match.
For me - each patch so far made it better.

Stats look solid too (me being Rayo)

Thought I'd post one of my post game stats to contrast:

1635256951025.png

Not the best performance from me! Barely put a glove on them, had to play a few second string players so it's clearly all their fault! 8 minute halves, legendary, FUMA, competitor mode off, player based difficulty off, my sliders. PC obviously :)

Played 4 games of the new patch and noticed not a lot TBH.

Finesse shots - Thank god, they are now pretty much nerfed and no longer fly in on every attempt - Massive improvement there.
Apart from that, I haven't noticed too much in regards to less blocks by the CPU.

Keepers are still really bad and let in everything, but then keepers were made like this in the last patch.

Too many shots still hit the bar, and the CPU still has the dribble glitch.

But TBH, I would say the patch has improved the game slightly just because Sanson doesn't score for me every game.

The CPU just had FOUR players sent off against me in a pre season match. This better not happen every single game? Has anyone played a lot of this since update?

I took a photo when it was at 3 red cards:

Haha!
I love it.
No, the only red card I got was playing online this morning. Got a bit carried away...
AI only got yellows in all my matches. And never more than 2 in one match.

What kind of fouls led them to be sent off? I'm curious eheheh

The AI is more ruthless in Career Mode matches from my experience in Stadia. That's because of exaggerated stuff like that I ended up reporting the issue to EA....

From what I've read from your previous posts, you are probably playing with default sliders, right? I felt the aggressiveness was more over the top when my marking was set to 75/75. Setting everything back to 50/50, as I've been playing currently, made it a bit better, but it's still not right at all.

Again, and other than that, I'm truly loving the game still.

82% is still not too bad for AI on Legendary..
Ps. On Legendary I'd get slaughtered..

Did you always have this sort of pass accuracy from AI?

Yeah that's pretty normal, high 70s to mid 80s, I have CPU pass error on 67 and pass speed on 51 (for me it's 0 pass error and 60 pass speed). The CPU pass error slider doesn't have as much impact as in previous years and the first touch error has zero impact, I have it on 100 for CPU and they almost never miscontrol the ball.

I have keepers on 100 for both and shot speed at 57 to balance it out, works well and get to score some screamers that keepers actually fully stretch for :)

*Ring ring* Calling our good friend @Mathgamer! Another person has noticed this issue (I mentioned it to you a week or so ago), it really seems like a bug at this point - is it possible to get a response from EA about this one? The first touch error slider does nothing!

If we could use it to make the AI have to take a touch of the ball before passing it, it would slow the game down massively and make playing the AI a much nicer experience. The reason the game feels like ping-pong to me at times isn't because players move too quickly, it's because the AI hits perfect first-touch 100mph ping-pong passes around when it needs to score.

Fifa really has turned a massive corner and theres no going back.
Oh there definitely is. Especially with the "live updates" (where they can tweak gameplay without you even needing to download a game update).

We just have to pray they don't change it, and/or the FUT kids don't force them to.

I played @Emroth earlier and the first batch of games we had felt great. Second batch, still a lot of fun, but I swear it was faster, twitchier and with some crazy animation speeds (which always happens, but there was a higher amount).

I'm sure most of it is in my head, but it feels like I get a different experience at random sometimes...

Let people enjoy it for a day or two before we start making EA Voodoo dolls again...

So it wasnt just me - the inertia and weight are back! I noticed it almost immediately when I was chasing the attacker and he simply stopped and I went flying pass him and it took me a while to brake. It really adds a lot to how fluid the game feels.
Those instant stops and twitches were spoiling the fun.

One of their reds was when I was through on goal, which was so good to see.

The other 3 were just the CPU completely losing its mind and sliding it for no reason when I’m in midfield or around my own area. That’s why I was worried that this is now too far the other way - I would rather no fouls than the CPU going down to 7 men every match

@Emroth Good to hear thanks for feedback :)

I rest my case. :COAT:

Seriously now, it's not as extreme as that (3 red cards every match) but as time goes by you will notice the AI doing the same dirty sliding trick quite often. Specially if you like to pass the ball around in your own half as you are building up. At least that's what I feel in my CM in Stadia. I'm still not sure I would consider that better than how it was before.

I guess this shows how difficult it is to make a game for everyone. Or at least, how difficult it is for a "quick fix" to suit everyone.

You pass around in your own half - so the AI sliding in while you're doing that is going to look insane (like the opponent is a team of Roy Keanes, or a bored online opponent waiting to break your players' legs).

I don't, because I play a shorter half length and want the game to feel like a highlights package (not that I spam passes) - so when the AI slides in on me, it's likely to be in more sensible circumstances.

The only way to solve this is to put much more logic into the AI's aggression (which is what we'd all prefer) - but right now, it's no aggression, or random aggression. In your situation, it'll be bad. For me, it'll probably be okay. But you need to switch it off, or it may completely ruin your game.

This is why we need many, many more sliders (and devs who build this stuff into the game, not add it on in a week to please "the moaners")...

Sorry I didn’t answer your other question: I use default sliders on slow speed with just pass speed reduced to 40.

I love that the CPU is aggressive but I hope it doesn’t get ridiculous - I honestly thought my pre season match was going to get called off because the CPU wouldn’t have any players left!

The game is great, I love the gameplay. But the visual bugs are still there. When you shoot there’s that weird looking trail which follows the ball plus the game lags for me at times, it stutters all over the place in fact.

It still needs a few patches to get sorted but the base game is loads of fun - there is so much weight to everything and I never thought I would say that about a fifa game.

If the sliding behaviour (which I've still not seen for myself, played 5 full matches since the update now) is being talked about here like this, then you can bet it's come to the notice of the devs via focus groups/Twitter or whatever, and can further bet that we've got about two weeks to enjoy FIFA 22 with fouls.

I agree with you. The only way to make it work (fouls, referee strictness, handballs, etc..) in a broader scale is through additional sliders. This would maybe emulate the way we tweak older games like FIFA 16.

It wouldn't really be that difficult for them to implement it I think. Maybe sending feedback to them to add more sliders instead of complaining about specific things getting fixed could be a smarter thing to do, I reckon.

So now, besides not being recommended to give feedback, I also can't even discuss this in this forum? Isn't that a bit too much? :)
