FIFA 22 Discussion (Console Versions)

Last gen: Anyone else notice the strange amount of times the CPU keeper is throwing the ball out too far at the edge of the box so a hand ball is called against him? Must have had that at least 5 or 6 times in two seasons. Now if only I could score a freekick!..

In terms of fouls I'm definitely happier how it is now, yes the AI occasionally does an insane lunging two footer just because you turned away from him but I'm ok with that, better than the alternative of zero fouls again!

It's so funny they are aware of the fouls problems, yet stuff like this don't cut it for a penalty concession.

By the way, I'm in a weird relationship with the game at the moment. I'm starting to be kinda majorly put off by the bad things, namely the costant tweaking for optimal settings
And here lies the problem with sliders and especially a slider scale from 1 to 100...it must be a nightmare trying to figure out the difference from 77 to 78 or 34 to 35.I just know if i went properly into the sliders id never be happy with the game and you see that with OP constantly changing sliders or gamers on here posting different sliders everyday.

Im more than happy just toning down the speed of cpu passing and then living with the flaws for the year like i would of PES 1 to 6 and enjoying the game.

Here is how I see sliders and options in general. More options is better than less options. It doesn't mean you have to use all the options.

I do really like the game, I haven't played this many matches in FIFA for about 8 years and I'm only 10 games into career mode. I did play a kick off game before that and won 2-1 Millwall Vs West ham and I thought oh dear the game is going to be too easy but career mode difficulty seems much harder.

I play OS sports sliders, 10 minute halves and slow speed on World Class, I used to play FUMA on PES but haven't quite got the hang of it on FIFA so sticking with semi for now.

None of this will be new to you but I thought I'd give my observations anyway:

- the game speed is fantastic and I think reflects the pace of real football more than anything else I've played. I am tempted to increase the slider for acceleration however as I think it is only lacking that quick speed burst to get round a defender, I feel like if I try that now it looks and feels like my players are running in treacle a bit.

- the passing seems slightly inconsistent in terms of power bar and output, especially when you get those cannonball rolls that go nowhere and act as if the pitch is waterlogged, this might be down to the fact there are modifiers that I simply didn't know about (why is x + x a slightly higher pass??) affecting what happens with the ball but it can be odd at times regardless

- talking of the modifiers, i do enjoy the depth in the control scheme although it's going to take a lot of training to actually use the variations properly and learn the buttons, i was thinking about mapping to PES controls (shooting already changed though naturally) but there are so many modifiers i thought there was no point really. it's also a good way to train yourself out of secondary press because i am still pressing square to bring a player over only for my controlled defender to do a stupid standing tackle and let the opponent past :LMAO:

- the above really doesn't help that i have no idea what i should be doing for defending, it feels like whatever i do the AI just has an instant response and can get it to the penalty spot fairly easily to fire it in while my players just stand around, especially the ones that are not user controlled. they are so slow and lazy. the best example is when the ball is out wide, the AI defenders simply do not track back properly and mark the opponent arriving in the box. I am sure that i maybe need to learn how to defend a lot better, the only thing i can think of is that i need to be constantly switching player and moving them like it's subbuteo?

other than that it seems fairly solid, the shooting seems varied and it's nice that the AI can miss the target high and wide. found it a bit hard to understand the menus and the tactics and team sheets stuff but i think i've got it now. overall i'd give it.... oh hold on a minute, let's go to alex scott to hear the latest from Pride Park, Alex?

Just reading the last couple of posts regarding sliders. This is why I've gone back to the PES 2021 as it seems you're constantly seeking for a good game play experience worrying about slider settings and updates looking for things that are wrong or needing changing
The only two sliders ive changed on WC is shot error and pass error to 70..on semi controls ..it's so far ahead of pes21.

Completely agree Pap. Those who are wanting to adjust things - we’re allowed haha. People should play how they want. Like I said the other day, people use 8 million combinations of gameplay mods of Pes and I don’t see anyone complaining about it. They’re options.

If we don’t have options and we’re not happy, then all we can do is complain. The options let (key word) us do something about it if (another key word) we want to.

People become addicted to the sliders. I’ve always sworn to stay away from them because of this but now…I’m addicted too :(

Sliders don’t fix enough. Game is just fine at Vanilla on slow with the pass speed reduced a little.
Yeah don't remember it's a game so playing is the key. FIFA 22 is great enought to fixed sliders only after a patch changing the gameplay. I have made 2 careers since the launch so I prefer playing😉

You make good points here about PES and the mods.

Like you say, people enjoy these games in their own way.

First match done. Very enjoyable.
1-1. Few free kicks and to my surprise - none of them from random sliding tackles, just normal or rugby tackles.
I've seen AI flying by me few times trying to kill my players, but they missed every time. Also - I didnt find their sliding tackles annoying or over the top.
It just looked like they were frustrated, which was nice.

Oh, I should add that I also gave away 2 free kicks from normal tackles, which never happened before. I had fouls from AI, but never for AI.

they probably have just returned from an -the other game- advertising tour!
;)

glad you like it M!

Yeah it seems solid and somehow its back to having really nice flow.
I did spent some time on World Class difficulty, as it felt too easy on Professional. But on World Class 98% of the time it felt great and then AI was suddenly stringing 20 laser guided passes up until they scored. Reminded me frustration I had in Master League. Now - Professional is nicely balanced again. Had a great second match.
For me - each patch so far made it better.

Stats look solid too (me being Rayo)

Are the ai defenders defending better? Like when you break on the wings are they actually tracking back or just casually jogging back as if nothing is the matter whilst the attackers have an Easy cross and tap in?

Blimey that shot count / XG is high! But you play on 8 minute half lengths, right?

What are your sprint speed settings? If you're on lower than default, go back to go default. This will fix most of it. If you still find it's an issue, give my sliders a go if you want. Doesn't happen.

It is much better in my opinion (with default sliders). I haven't seen much of those to be honest. I think the fact that the AI is more aggressive also helps it to make it more balanced.

well, i do play 10 min! never ever i get more than 20 shots (maybe not even 15) on AI goal.
why is his Xgoal value that high here?! because M had high scores in his matches before?

afair, my Xgoal value is around 2, wich i like.

pass accu, free kicks, fouls, corners looking good though.

Yeah I think I got a bit misunderstood in my post above. I'm glad we have sliders and I actually would like to have even more. When I talk about optimal settings I also think about difficulty level, hand fouls, competitive AI and so on. It's really hard to decide this stuff cause they all have downsides and silver linings. Let's just say having to think about this stuff slows down "immediacy" and the willingness to pick it up and just play, but I'd surely rather have it all than not, and maybe I shouldn't have put it togheter with the bad things cause I most certainly don't think customization is (quite the opposite.. give me a seriously, completely customizable game, from AI patterns to referees, and I'll be an happy man).

Had a decent amount of fouls in a few matches, and none from 'random sliding tackles' – there were some fouls as a result of AI sliding tackles but hardly random, instead they were contextually appropriate. I hope EA haven't run away with the idea over the past week that they have to fix AI 'random sliding tackles', because we all know what the outcome of that will be.

And this update definitely fixes the Career Mode Youth Team bug? I've seen it being said here that it does, but not seen it in the official patchnotes yet.
