FIFA 22 Discussion (Console Versions)

Yeah, League 2 with a tiny budget and a one-star rated mixed-aged squad.

I'm loving investing in the youth team and scouting for cheapo players, none of whom are much better than what I have.

I did manage to sign Wales international Johnny Williams as a free agent but he's not up to much to be honest, despite the game saying how "there's something about him".

One disappointing thing is that it seems you can't change your stadium (other than cosmetically) after you've started a career. Quite fancied an upgrade if I ever make it to the Prem.

I’m so going to Create a Club when this update goes live on PS5
Its surprisingly fun.
I've created a club with young, but really bad players and placed them in Irish League.
Choices of kits are quite limited, from design up to colours and you cant have a third kit. No sponsors either. Generally - quite poor.
But default squad will give you majority of your players from country that you are playing in, which is a nice touch. Your team doesnt feel disconnected from the rest, like PES default squad was.
You can pick your rivals, objectives, finance.
Someone above said you cant change your stadium. Not sure if that's true. I think you can, but only between seasons. Same with Kits.
Most importantly - the league itself is quite fun to play. Results are varied, balanced and for the first time in Fifa - my team doesnt really stands out in the table. Usually I either had no draws, biggest amount of goals scored, or smallest amount of goals against.
There was always something in the league standings that would give away which team is mine. Here - it just feels right.

Really getting to grips with tactical defending and when to commit or hold off . Also discovering 4-3-3 holding is far more effective than false 9 . Comfortably beat Athelitico 4-0 at home and Anfield looks amazing in the day with clear weather. Here's a clip of defending followed by swift counter scoring Infront of the Kop

Love it!

@reinelt97

You can change your stadium every summer mate, plus your kits etc.

Whoever suggested semi here.. You legend! Found my sweet spot with just enough error but still scoring and passing like a Premier League side should. Professional is too easy. Just switched to World Class and I'm already 3-0 up at St James Park at half time. Might have to move to Legendary if this keeps up. What difficulty do most play on here?

Oh and player individuality is definitely there. Ward-Prowse plays, shoots and passes like his real self 😍

I created club and started from lowest possible point ... 4th English league, and everything (players, budget etc) lowest possible. Playing world class, slow, sliders pass error 60, speed mostly around 40, first touch error 70, goalkeepers around 20 ...

Currenty 0 wins, 11 defeats at start of the season  ... this will be looooong jurney to Championship final one day.

Just been battered in this game, felt very good, scored with two breakaway goals but they pressed the crap out of me on the ball

I’ve enjoyed your recent videos and thought I would give Broadcast camera a go. I struggled for a few games but…

Wow. I don’t think I could go back to Tele Broadcast now. It feels so satisfying scoring in this camera. I didn’t get on with it at all when I tried it on previous FIFA games but it looks and plays real nice for me in this edition.

Given you're a retro PES player like me @geeeeee I thought I'd chip in with my summary.

Initially I found this to be another irritating Fifa that left me pining for PES. I almost sold it but have stuck with it and am now rather enjoy it.

The trick for me was using a combination of Operation Sports sliders, pro level, semi passing and shooting and a complete change in defensive play.

Create a Club in Career mode is very much like starting ML with the defaults and the story of my little League 2 no-hopers is really very compelling.

I do find I feel a little frazzled after a Fifa session in a way I don't with PES but that's probably down to the fact it's not that comfy old game they so cruelly took away from us.

Shooting, presentation and player individuality is very impressive, even on PS4. Crucially, the AI is challenging and varied in a way I have never seen on any Fifa I've played.
Thanks @reinelt97 that is good to know coming from a fellow retro lover. :)

I actually bit the bullet and bought it.

I have only played a few games on Professional using FUMA with no sliders used. First impressions are okish and it is better than previous ones. One thing that doesn't sit right with me though is that there are loads of shots and it is end to end.

I have lost all 3 games (which isnt a problem) but the CPU had over 20 shots in each game with the GK.making 13 odd saves each match. Two matches i was Spurs and the last one I was Leyton Orient. When the keeper makes a save i never feel the urge to watch the replay because there are just too many shots and saves.

It’s as if there is no break down in consecutive attacks leading to midfield battles. It’s “you attack, I attack” This has been a problem for me in previous FIFA’s too.

I will keep giving it a go though but i feel i will eventually go back to retro PES for my football fix as it is less end to end. ;)

Before you go back to retro - try bringing up Pass Error and FT error for AI, along with Lowering their Pass Speed and bringing Marking up to 70.

This should make midfield more crowdy and AI less clinical in getting from one penalty area to the other.

All your other settings and difficulty is what Im playing and I dont really have end to end issue, so its worth a shot.

Hey man. Good to hear you bought it. I’ve made some sliders specific to current gen to help with create more of a midfield. Due to lack of general movement (no hypermotion) on CG, those distances need to be greatly altered to condense the pitch. Give them a go and see what you think. Try v1 before v2 as I’m not 100% sold on v2 yet!

Yeah I've always been dynamic but that was due to my living room set up and being too far away from the TV, me and my lad have convinced mum to have a second couch right next to TV so I can play with broadcast now and it looks insanely real...last vid below I'm sure people are getting fed up , drama at the King Power stadium ..Salah with a worldie finish from the Assist of the season ..what a game this was

You're welcome. I'll probably end up back on retro PES too but this isn't a bad game. I had very similar end-to-end issues as you before implenting those OS sliders. I wouldn't have stuck with the game otherwise.

Thanks guys, i will give those sliders a go in the next couple of days and let you know how i get on.

Retro PES is calling me though…

I'm having so much fun in my Milan career; arrived in january without even realizing. Couldn't pass CL group after two (fair) losses against Porto and Atletico Madrid, but I'm still in a good position for the the fourth place fight in league, even tho board trust dropped dramatically after CL elimination (from 91 to 71). Just coming from a beautiful game in Coppa Italia, against Benevento (so I discovered italian "Rest of the world" teams get seeded in the Cup; had no idea it happened); lined up almost all second lines and had a great battle in a game I dominated but couldn't break through. Won after the extratimes and the penalties, both teams scrambling around with super low stamina in the end; felt so old school (and so satisfying). I would have tried a lesser league but I'm so hooked on this save I think I'll just keep going for now.

As of now World Class with the few sliders modifications I did (like the sprint speed in favour of AI) has truly been the sweet spot for me. I feel like I'm significantly stronger against lower teams (but struggle anyway or not always win) and I have my chances against bigger ones, although I got spanked pretty hard by Atletico Madrid, and lost against both Lazio and Roma. Don't know if it will ever get too easy, for now I try to play football and it's one of the most realistically balanced experiences I've had in the last years.

Is there consensus on how the NG and OG versions differ?

Should I wait on a PS5 (even if at this rate, I'll get one closer to FIFA 23's release date)?

I followed the advice on here and tinkered with Pass Error and First Touch error. 70-80 is the key tinkering zone for both values. At some point of that it almost completely eliminated the AI's tika-taka around and inside the box prior to its certain goal. And lowered its overall pass % accuracy to the same as mine, 80% or so (playing on semi assisted). Which in turn makes possible difficulty levels within difficulty levels of course. Might be too much tinkering for some, but it's worth it if the fast-switch passing is grating on you. With a high enough error on those two values, it just doesn't work for the AI. As the Operation Sports people are careful to note in their slider notes, the values are sensitive, one or two points making the difference sometimes.

Can also confirm that at the end of a Career Mode Create A Club season you are allowed to re-pick all the details about your club, stadium, kit, everything you set up at the start. The game explicitly prompts you to do it in case you forget. I got promotion so moved to a new stadium, picked a new shade of the club colours, etc.

@reinelt97 you're not alone, i'm more or less in the same case. Can't enjoy that game, i try btw. Then i close it. And play retro (FIFA retro atm, 13 and 14 and a bit the 16 to compare a bit) and i literally dream about the same defensive effectiveness, when not only the defense was more impactful but also it's noticeable that at least on PS3 version and FIFA 16, it was less easy to dribble or pass a player. The balance was good, no sliders needed.
I was about to wrote why (well no need : Esport players builded that game it seems), but my first impression didn't changed that much and i don't want at all to put my negativity (even if it's more sadness and i'm envious for those who can pass over the superhuman stuffs) when everyone here post positive stuffs about the game. On PES even older PES there's not too much problem as there's tons of people talking about and i don't talk about Efootball 2022 of course, but here you're few, i feel like i'm the guy who fuck up the party lol.

Well, i'm waiting for the update and will probably try sliders, even if i never really played Fifa offline. Well the CPU is now challenging. But i'm a bit annoyed about sliders as i want to start my Seasons campaign with the vanilla gameplay as it's the mode that gives me more adrenaline with Fifa.

I believe I've finally reached an impasse; difficulty balance. Legendary is enjoyable from the perspective of yearning for challenge, but the robotic AI required to present said challenge has finally worn me down. Legendary this year feels like Ultimate of the past in that, I really feel like I'm playing a game as opposed to having a more "organic" experience play out in front of me. It's not a case of the difficulty itself affecting my experience, but more that the core mechanics of the game suffer or become non-existent as a result. This is after tinkering with various sliders, of course.

Professional and World Class breathe new life into the experience by opening up the possibility of more robust physicality, fouls, and dribbling which is in short supply on the highest settings. Unfortunately, it's far too easy going forward on anything below Legendary. On lower difficulties, the AI can still pose a threat going forward, but the same can't be said for their porous defense. I've tried increasing the marking and decreasing the marking (for Legendary) as well as some other sliders. Doesn't help that much and all it does is create moments where defenders seem to suddenly accelerate like rockets as they win/attempt to win the ball. Odd.

I'm going to keep toying with it in hopes of finding that sweet spot. I feel like I'm stuck in a difficulty limbo at the moment.

Could you not give the AI on world class a couple of slider boosts to see if that helps ? I enjoy WC overall but the lack of fouls bugs me and I'm still getting beat In a lot of games on professional.

I worded my initial post poorly. I meant that I've tried increasing sliders like marking for Professional and World Class, whilst decreasing it for Legendary. I'm still tweaking the CPU's acceleration and what not.

What time do FIFA updates usually go live on PlayStation and Xbox?

I’m off work this week and planned on playing lots of Career. But the GKs keep doing weird stuff which the patch apparently has addressed - wish they’d hurry up, it’s shit that us console players have to wait longer than Stadia etc.
