FIFA 22 Discussion (Console Versions)

So I ended up buying FIFA after my trial expired. Really enjoying Career mode with Paris FC in Ligue 2, and with French commentary that I don't understand but adds immersion. I didn't use Milan because it pisses me off that they FIFA has exclusivity and barely half the squad have faces.

I made a few controller changes and now it is starting to feel more responsive like PES and I'm really enjoying the gameplay. I turned off things like Agile Dribbling and suddenly the game felt responsive.... also turned off a few other random things and it's even better. I also figured out how to make proper passes by using driven ground passes.

I'm now trying to figure out how to score accurate low shots - but finding it stressful to press the right buttons when it's time to shoot.

Yeah. You can download it straight from the Audio settings menu. You have Spanish, Spanish (Latin America), French, Italian, German, Portuguese (Brazil), Dutch. I think that's all if memory serves me right.

I downloaded Italian, German and brasilian Portuguese. Would be so cool if I could assign certain commentaries to certain teams and/or stadium. Man. That would be great immersion wise.

Yeah, that would be awesome. But what I do is change it straight from the settings (in the pre-match screen) for each match, doesn't require you to go back to the main menu and takes like 10 seconds.

EDIT: Didn't see @Mikhail had already answered with this. Anyway, it greatly improves the immersion. I especially love the French commentator, he's calm and collected like he was commentating on a real match.

but i dont understand a single word, monsieur! :D i will give him a try tonight... lets hear...!
im sticking mainly with the english commentary... much more versaitle for my ears compared to the german one.

What changes have you made to the controller settings.?
 
After a long time I really enjoyed from a football game.. In FIFA 22 they slow down the pace and hypermotion technology brings to the fluency. I am playing on Stadia on my PC. I prefer this to old-gen PC port.
 
Just playing Kick Off matches v CPU at moment.

This game has really clicked with me. It's incredible at times, it really is. Broadcast camera, SLOW speed, reduced Pass Speed a few notches via sliders for both me and the CPU, no other changes. Squint your eyes and it could be a real Premier League match.

I love this. I'm amazed really, haven't spent hours on end just playing friendlies in a football game since PES 2013.

One quick question I need to ask, what is the proper way to do a header? Do you press the power button when the ball is in the air and then tap it when it hits the head? Do you not press anything until the ball is about to hit the head? Do you press something else besides the header button (like the controlled shot button)?
I'm just asking because I don't know what I do but sometimes in a lofted pass I can head the ball easily but my player decides he wants to walk back like to do a volley, or simply not jump and let the ai take it.
I scored a great header goal yesterday and have no idea how as usually my headers go over the bar so I don't know if I'm putting to much power or missing something

SUCH a good question - something I've been wondering myself for a few days.

I seem to get more joy when I frantically tap the button, or rather, I win more headers that way.

But then - playing earlier, and I held the button and 'weighted' the headers into my team mate's paths. So I just don't know either!

i'd say it depends on where your striker is located. when i bring in corners and my striker is about 5 meter away from goal (between the pen spot and 5 yrd box) i ususally just tap them (plus direction), because i am so close to goal.
when im further away i tend to load up the the header (like i do with shots and passes). i really dont know why i dont consider this "a problem" or "not working as intended". hm...
i copied all my FIFA22 snippets to my iPad and will create a short video with scenes from the game. surely some headers will make it in there. when done, i delete all footage from my PS5 drive and start new recordings when the update hits. btw, is it released already?!
 
I just cannot get over how flat and lifeless Stewart Robson is as a co-commentator. Awkward and wooden doesn't begin to describe how he delivers his lines. A true marvel in a FIFA because it's just so un-EA to have such a glaring presentation fail. I listened to some of Lawrenson in PES2008 on YouTube for comparison and Robson might actually be worse.

'That is a wonderful strike. How has he pulled that off.'

'A magnificent save. I cannot believe he's been able to do that.'

He says all his lines as if he's one of the 'lads' forced to reluctantly read from the set text aloud in English class at school. Flat, lifeless, toneless, and carefully so in order not to have his mates take the piss later.

What was the director thinking? Was there a director? I think Robson must have gone to a studio in London in the winter of 2020/2021 or so, when lockdowns and restrictions were still rife, and recorded his lines with the studio crew, and sent them off and EA were forced to go with them. There is no way EA used his lines willingly.

Same here I don't get a lot of time to play with work and family but I'm finding I'm playing this instead of watching dross on TV. Somehow I'm half way through my custom league in under a week ...never heard of in years. And like you say sometimes i it feels like I'm watching a feel game and I get drawn in as much as I do watching a real game

This is the best system of commentors in french since forever... But in French i just can't also since forever : they're very very bad actors. It's forced.
Also preferred in English. Even if i understand, i can block my brain to just the tone, and it's good in every game to me, the more balanced.

But in terms of language, and giving a super ambiance in the game, like if it's a boxing match : no commentar can rivalise with japanese, i won't make my otaku but i understand some words too, and even more enjoyed is Arabic. I gotted it on a PES 2019 version Asia (sad we can't get all the language), it's like when you looks at some streaming match. They're yelling like fool with enjoyement and it's not forced. To me they're the best actor. Brasilian i don't know it must be the same level as Brasil real commentor are also very enjoyed.

I hope at least having Japanese or Arabic in the future, is that possible? I rewatched the new O.S. sliders games and despites some flaws, i really think that i can really enjoy the game finally. Well, no choice, and i don't think i will got a so big handicap when i will switch to online.

... Well sometimes in the half season i completely remove commentary lol. When the repetitiveness start to put me on my nerve, i do it in every sports games. Tennis (AO Tennis/Top Spin) i remove them instantly i don't leave them time to express themselves poor guys 😂

The second version seems more dynamic (than the first, not the vanilla which is way to frentic and goal to goal), but the pace of motions seems at least respected, passes seems a bit all similar in terms of speed but whatever i don't care, the rest seems very good.
Even if i can see clearly what have been "slidered" in terms of pace, well... The difference with the vanilla game is like day and night. I hated so much FIFA 19 and 20, and this one is ressembling but with a (far) better AI, and not on CPU AI challenge and variety but also teammates AI

Yeah, commentary is quite poor unfortunately.
Doesnt bother me as much, but in compare to (even) F16 - there's so many lines missing, which takes away a bit of realism. Which is sad.
They used to tell you about previous result when you played against same opponent - not anymore.
They used to notice you are making substitution, coz the guy was injured - not anymore.
The little things that made commentary more immersive and natural are gone.
I just hope that this is a new team and a lot of lines will be added in the future.

i am already using set v3! we also had 2 minor updates to the set just a day ago!

Changelog & Updates:

Timestamp: 10/11/2021 | 5:24 PM CST --- 51 acceleration is just a bit too fast, despite the better reactions, but natural to FIFA, speed is the key. So back to 50 there. Sprint 15/15 is good and can possibly stay, but 12/15 is being explored after some feedback. After that, width to 48 - needs testing.

Timestamp: 10/11/2021 | 7:26 AM CST --- I do like the 15/15 Sprint, can you guys let me know how you feel about 51/51 acceleration and 48 width? Been playing with this for a bit and liking how the fatigue feels more intense, resulting in silly fouls and missed chances and the width is just a bit more covered. Paired up with the acceleration change, the attention to spacing is even sharper.

Yeah they add lines on Fifa, callnames too. Just don't remember, there were Japanese and Arabic commentary last year?
I know all are downloadable. But some cames later i think. FTM japanese isn't on the list (was there the first year J-League was in Fifa so i don't panic for not having them)

EDIT/ Well i'm waiting for the patch, my PC can't even run the basic version not even FIFA 16 without slowdown so... But i always prefers console.
Pray for me that one day, they will add the option to change name (at least) for teams in Serie A and basic kits like the team creator :PRAY:

Time to say goodbye to Online. It will miss me, i won't lie, i loved my Season sessions but the game was more than acceptable when i played it (except FIFA 10 and the lob but and FIFA 15 with tennis score... But the only one i won the 1st division haha)
I gotted some games... Irreproducible vs CPU, games that your opponent send you a PM after the game "super game!" often happened with some draws

Hi guys, is it possible to change imperial to metric measure. I bought it on ps Us store and cant find the way to change it.
 
Check on every settings, or sometimes even somewhere else. There's so much settings that you could be lost on it.
Some are "hidden" you have to go all above to found it (like for exemple Analog Sprint)
There was always the choice between metric and feet/lbs mesurations, i don't think there isn't on FIFA 22.

have you tried setting a different language?! us english to bristish english so the metric system might come with that change?! or german... or spanish?!

Yes, English US metric is on feet/Lbs as a standard, like some others American countries.
So it could be weird but it could be one reason. I will check right now first on settings, as it's bothering me.
 
Tried everything on every menu : he's right you can't change it. But i don't have the option English UK and English US on my version
Told us if @PRO_TOO system worked. I don't remember if you can change your "nationality" when you're setting your personnal details.
Because i really don't see why, you could always ask to Fifa official forums... I don't see any other way if you don't have English UK. I wouldn't play on Swedish if my first language was friend and don't get a single word.

Personally on any game, sports or fighting game it would annoy me an not a little.
Not your fault if you brought it on an US account, that stuff should be changeable. I don't get it at all.

Its amazing btw how every other genre, every other game out there - when the patch is out people are always exited. What did they fix? What did they add?

Its only football games where people always ask - 'what did they break??'

I would put it in larger scale and say all sports games are affected by this. It’s so close to real life, people are always comparing, and it’s natural, so that’s why.

is the patch out yet? :LOL:

@saturator said patch is Monday or Tuesday but I guess it’s only 12pm ish right now in the US so plenty of today left.
