FIFA 22 Discussion (Console Versions)

Well, in my book you deserve one. I haven't forgotten not only how you were praising the game all alone, but also how you kept your cool when this topic wasn't certainly optimistic (even towards your opinions/reports). Hat's off to you, whatever will be of Fifa22 :))
Thanks mate, i really appreciate that.
I'm always cool.
When i saw only shitty videos and I couldn't post mine, i was so anger. I was thinking I have bad tastes🤣
Even Chris like FIFA 22 now, wow i'm amazed😳

Yeah, @saturator - credit where its due.
Even tho Beta had much more issues - you could see potential through the mud all along. At some stage you were the only one praising the game, surrounded by torches and pitchforks.
Thanks Emroth.
I 'm waiting for the patch to post my new sliders. Even on ultimate, CPU made faults😳. I have lost 0-3 but i was a great match!

Is this the one with bubbles?
That was wrecking my head.
Bit too much. And they didnt want to pop!
I just realized. It was on 21 the camera was zoomed right out. I haven’t played there on 22. Is there loads of bubbles ? Didn’t used to be but obviously they do at the matches.
Bet that’s annoying.

I'm quite enjoying this with sliders to take the pace down a little, a lot more than I thought I would to be fair. However there are 3 things that I'd like to see fixed.

1. Goalkeepers on their near post. They're so bad at trying to save things on the near post and it needs patching ASAP in my opinion. You or the AI get in that position and it's a definite goal. It looks like there's something off with the keepers positioning in those scenarios so they can't save it properly.
2. I saw a lot of people say before I had the game that it was quite hard to tackle. I could see why after playing 3 or 4 games myself. The reason is because the AI very rarely make runs at you, it's just pass, pass, pass which gives you very little attempt to make a challenge. They also seem to dislike crossing. They'll whip in the odd one but a lot of the time they'll hold it up and try and work it into the box on the ground with short passes even when they have a clear opportunity to whip one in.
3. Referees. Don't get me wrong, it's not anywhere close to being as bad as PES refs in recent years. However there's a lot of niggly little fouls they don't give like when a defender gets the ball back by running into the back of you.

Overall though despite the obvious faults it's a pretty good game, especially on full manual. Some of the long balls you can play look amazing when you pull them off.

Agree with your points but this one is totally the opposite of my experience of PES refs in recent years. (Taking 'bad refs' in this context to be shorthand for 'there are fouls and free kicks in this football game'.) Only PES2018 out of the recent editions had little or no fouls (for me: we all play differently).

I've played a few other FIFAs out of curiosity over the past week. Chiefly FIFA 16, and just last night FIFA 11. Both of which have fouls galore! It's quite startling to play a FIFA like them. I think I only played their demos in their years of release.

Both games have been terrible with fouls post 2017 for PES and 2016 for FIFA. Fifa 22 is the best in foul variation for years just needs to be a few more and on the higher difficulties. Edit ..to be fair there was one patch on 2020 PES that had a lot of fouls and even a few penalties ..then it was quickly.patched out

Fifa 22 is terrible for foul variation and frequency, it is one of the worst parts of the game that needs to be addressed.

Depends what you are comparing it against , I had 6 plus 2 advantages against Everton Inc a penalty in the default time game , hardly terrible
Exactly. Not to steer too far from the topic but Pes18 and Fifa19 were terrible when it comes to fouls. Soft, weightless, and you never got any.
This is not great, but its certainly not terrible.

Can you kick the ball into the net after a goal in F22? There's so many celebrations that I dont even know where to start.. I just want to kick the ball..

Also - never seen them picking up the ball from the net when losing to not waste any time.
I can be down 4-0, score a goal and they are celebrating like they won Champions League.

Netpicking, I know.
Yeah its possible. Quite funny I've accidently triggered this celebration yesterday instead of pickung the ball up, while 3:1 down online. To execute, just hold finesse shot modifier and run towards the ball. (Ball must be outside of the goal)

The main issue I had with PES referees was that they missed full on assaults but would pull you up with a yellow card for the most minor of infractions. Just no consistency at all. In FIFA 22 I think the referees are pretty good for the most part in picking up the clear fouls and getting the right colour card, they just miss a lot of the smaller fouls and let the game continue as though nothing happened. End of the day it's obviously preference, I want these fouls called but others may want it to be like this to keep the game flowing more. I did also think that it may be set up like this on purpose to make it more difficult on the higher settings if the AI can get away with making small fouls on you to get the ball back.

This sounds bad. I’ll have to try it tonight. Loved playing as West Ham because of the stadium and the team. On 20 and 21 the view was great .

The bubbles gradually disappear and are gone completely by the 5 minute point of the 1st half or they were for me on 7 min halves. It is absolutely crazy just after kick off though

Wtf, how is it appropriate 😂

I let the kids let me have a quick look. You can barely see the pitch

I will wait for the update to see about fouls. FTM i don't play that game (for no other reason, it's just that i got others games and not too much about football now on) and will see after the patch and marking more close to players.
Needs also to try on Legendary, about faults if there's much or if the CPU play even more clean regarding defense, well i suspect. But i suppose.
Don't play manual trougth, it's fun but not realistic to me. I saw some manual games... Well, if you don't master it, it looks like what you call Sunday league even with super big teams, and i like stats to serve to something, not only pass speed.
Perhaps increase pass errors + semi will gives the same Semi system as for example, older FIFA who got Semi really good. But i don't want that slider to add randomness at all : i just want my left stick position to be took took in account and a larger scale of passing (that's why i liked semi : i can pass on the left side from the player, on his right side, etc. with stats involved and not completely off the pitch passes)

I would like a "cinematic celebrations" option added into the game.

This option would remove your user controlled celebrations altogether and instead just play a cutscene of your celebration chosen by the computer based on whatever is appropriate.

Not only would this allow better camera angles and therefore celebrations to look more realistic and more hype, but it would also stop me from accidentally forcing my players into doing handstands and becoming impromptu breakdancers which can be immersion breaking to say the least.

Emroth. Have you always played Manual?. I’ve always been manual Pro but felt Fifa was too weird on manual. I could never get it.

Ive just moved to manual from semi and it’s much more enjoyable.
I changed because for some reason it had my setting on assisted and the game felt awful. The change in enjoyment to semi made me think it may increase it again with manual.
I’m guessing I’m asking does it seem easier on manual than previous iterations ? Because before I couldn’t last more than five minutes but I think I’ll stick with it.

Emroth. Have you always played Manual
Not always, no. I switched on Pes20 and when I couldnt settle with this game I started playing other footy games on manual, including those from the past.
And yes - Fifas usually did feel awkward on manual. F22 feels good, but I always wonder is it the game itself that changed something, or is it me finally getting used to it.

Happy FIFA 22 Console Update Day! (Hopefully)

This game needs it too. Visually, in places, it’s a bit of a mess. Kit clashes are really annoying - QPR have their blue GK kit. Even though their home kit is blue and white. I mean, really EA? Sheffield Utd have the orange GK kit which clashes with the home kit when it’s sunny. Why not use Sheffield Utd’s YELLOW GK kit EA? That doesn’t clash with anything. There are so many visual annoyances with this game. Looks like arse on PS5 IMO, lighting is all wrong - white kits are super bright, especially in night matches.

Plus in my career mode save, the CPU has been playing strikers at left back! Apparently EA know about this bug.

BUT - the gameplay is so damn good. It’s the best FIFA ever for me. So varied, every match is SO different.

Tried online and won’t be touching it again, this game is actually quite offensive in ‘normal’ speed.

I’m desperate for this update now.

Hi guys, good to see a lot of the positive feedback so far. I am still holding out buying it on the PS4 to see what develops after the patch.

Can you please let me know who of you are playing the PS4 version?

Thanks :)

I’ve been playing the PC version, which is the same as ps4. I’ve found it to be a definite improvement on 21 and with the right adjustments I’ve been quite impressed with the AI as well. There’s still some tracking issues and an overall lack of movement which is frustrating, but in general it’s enjoyable and much better than 20 and 21. The reason I’ve ordered the NG version is because I’ve enjoyed the current gen.

The patch is already out on PC, and I’ve found it to be a good one. It’s helped with some of the midfield tracking. Overall a solid improvement and not game breaking at all from what I’ve played.

I didn't expect this but I have tons of fun with the game. Waaayyy to less fouls of course but I really like the gameplay so that doesn't bother me too much so far. For the first time in a long time I have the "one more game"-feeling again. My only letdown so far is that I bought it on Xbox and have problems with some button response so I'm thinking about buying it again for Playstation.

I want this as celebration:

Yeah. :D
i always try to slide on the ground, a last attempt, when the ball is about to go out.
i tried to kick the ball away with the shot button (after the whistle is blown) but that doesn’t work! neither is any attempt trying to hold me back finding new ways to do so!

Don't know if it was in some older Fifa or Pes, but a sliding tackle in the opponent after halftime or final whistle was a must be. :D

After a week end spent playing FIFA 22 on PS5 I can say that it's a great improvement compared to FIFA 21 but it doesn't give me enough fun:
  1. CPU is always perfetct positioned. No chance to have space while moving ball.
  2. No way to defend: when CPU is near the box starts to move the ball too fast (also against 3 stars teams) and defender are too "heavy" to move and defend.
  3. Crosses are better then FIFA 21 but continue to be terrible in my opinion;
  4. Passes seem to be always driven. I'm using semi in all settings and manual for crosses and shoot. The impression is often to cannot pass the ball to the right team mate.
  5. Player selection is buggy. I set to auto only for high ball but I often cannot have control of the right player.
I'm using operation sports slider.

The undefendable 5 yard passes in the box by the CPU are a bit shit.

Guess it's simulating how 'professional' players play. Not a fan though.

Thanks for that Anth, i am getting more and more tempted to buy.

Damn FIFA does this to me every year :D
