FIFA 22 Discussion (Console Versions)

Professional seems to play better for me. More fouls as well, just need to find a way to make the CPU challenging at that difficulty now.

Changing topic, I read you scored some headers in one of your posts, do you have some tips there?

Yes.

Find a way to buy him and thank me later.

Not really, pal.
Timing, literally all I can say. Its much harder due to stronger, more realistic crosses this year.
But timing is the only tip I can give you.
I didnt score many and quite often Im going wide. This diving header I scored was a pure luck.
But at the beginning I couldnt connect with the ball at all and recently its getting better, so it must be timing.
I do my headers manually. Most of the time. Scored quite a few.
i have so much footage of it… need to upload.

Something also that helps is super-cancel right before the ball reaches the intended target. It repositions the player just enough to get in front. You are definitely right though, the timing has to be so good. When we play pro clubs, my player is fairly short and up against the tree-like CBs, I have to move him around as much as possible to get a decent footing.

What do you mean by that?
I have everything possible on manual, but it doesnt seem like you are talking about settings..
On a corner, press L1 to select a player. target where you wanna go, load your power bar. As the ball is in the air, steer your player towards ball and finish. Manual headers.

Never heard of it.. will check this out. Cheers

No wonder some people are seeing a lot more fouls than I am; I always play FIFA on Legendary. It's such an obvious revelation. I messed around on Professional and they over commit a lot more often (as one would expect), it's like a different game. The AI is much more likely to stick a foot in or straight up go to ground, so fouls are easier to draw. People are flying around all over the place! Nice. Unfortunately on Legendary, that's a rare occurrence. They just hoover up the ball like a black hole instead. R1 dribbling is also a lot more effective and as a result much more enjoyable, albeit far too easy on Professional.

Obviously the concept of difficulty levels is pretty straight forward, but to see how it fundamentally altered the game first hand was just...

I just assumed they'd turn into training cones as opposed to a mixture of that and becoming extremely haphazard defensively. If they're not overcommitting on a regular basis, then you're not going to see fouls... it all makes sense. Now I need to find a balance, but I'm fairly certain @hitmanuk mentioned that he was seeing more fouls on Professional than World Class as well. Hmm.

Probably 4x as many ..world class i get one per game , last one was the straight red ..on proff about 4 and a couple of advantages ..the higher difficulties just tackle more effectively proff seems a bit more human like with error

Fuck sake, Pro_Too - this is almost like cheating. First attempt - goal.
I dont think I'll be using that...
Yeah. Personally, as soon as I find a mechanic that is overpowered I don’t use it anymore. So far, I get like 1 out of 10, I’d say.

@Milanista had a look at the through balls. They are fine and don’t feel underpowered to me. A bit more curve is applied sometimes. What I tend to forget is lifting regular and through passes, so they pass by the opponent.

Has anyone else had the stadium glitch at the King Power ? I have it on TV , Max Height and 0 zoom.
The stadium roof kept glitching into the view.
Will have to retry tomorrow to see if it’s something that’s always there or if it was a bug.

Personally have some challenges with the game. Think it's too easy on world class. My players can do "too much". Have a feeling that morale, player training etc is way to overpowered in CM.
It's also creating a lot of games with a frantic pace, simply because it's quite easy for me to create chances compared to the first 1-3 games..

Do you guys have any reflections about that?

World Class is too easy and Legendary is a bit too unrealistic sometimes. That's the problem I also have but at the end I prefer a real challenge so I'm sticking with Legendary. It's not perfect but I don't an other solution yet.

One thing I´m still really missing in Fifa 22 - something that PES has really nailed the last years - are fast, dropkick-like goalkicks; the ball after a goalkick is hanging in the air for too long.

This is on last gen by the way, maybe it´s different on PS5 / current gen...

Did not notice or played in that stadium yet. What I noticed with the broadcast camera is different height and zoom in different stadiums. When I went to a minor club and had a match in the stadium that was really really small, the cam was much closer and I had to remember the camera mods from FIFA 16. It was a bit like that. :)

Maybe getting converted.. Maybe.

Set to slow, increased pass error/decrease pass speed. More enjoyable.

Was with Suarez and the GK took me down for a pen. That's 3 pens in a 10 hour trial. (professional)

Liking that as I had about 2 in about 500 games on PES2021.

Holy shit I just realised that Competitor Mode hasn't been turned on when I've been playing as you can't on World Class.

I thought it was on by default and - because I've read a few accounts say that it improves the AI overall - I didn't switch it off.

But after a particularly flamboyant display by Oldham Globetrotters I decided I'd had enough and went to switch it off and noticed it hadn't been there all along. Honestly, the nonsense skills I've seen from League Two jobbers in and around the box.

Is there any one of the trillions of settings combinations that drastically reduce the AI flicks and tricks? To a realistic amount?

There could be more of that. More physicality, more fouls. But we are living in Pro Players World and we have to take what we get.
Im getting fouls, penalties, injuries, handballs. Just wish it was more balanced on higher difficulties. Im also on professional, but its sad that higher settings dont even get what we do.

It’s odd that goalies stay put now, in the beta I loved their aggression in coming out forcing you to react quicker, only time I see them leaving their six yard box now is for an over hit pass that they know they will reach.
As ever with fifa it’s easy to create one on one situations so I would like the beta keepers back please

Do you have player based difficulty turned on? Cause that raise tricks by cpu as well. Personally I keep it up as at least for now I don't find it too dramatic and I like the variety as well, might turn it off as well sooner or later just to see how ti plays in the long run.

Those of you enjoying the game, how is it stacking up against some of your classics? I know it’s early days but I’m curious to hear your thoughts..

For me it's up there with the best and I'm coming from ISS days. Just had a derby game in my league with Everton 6 fouls excluding 3 advantages , 3 AI bookings , 1 pen to me , i lost 4-2 due to over committing at the end . It has some minor issues but find me a football game that doesn't

"Fifa16.2 with lower foul count", if I was to put it in one sentence.
Still getting fouls, but not as many as Id like.
But I have to be very careful with sprint, its tighter in the midfield and player momentum is brilliant. I can use it against AI and dribble pass them using just small left stick flicks.

My gripes so far
- fouls, as mentioned above.
- low cards count
- way too overpowered stat boosts in Career Mode
- sliding tackles could be more effective. Id love to hack them down but cant reach them in most cases

There's nothing completely missing, or gamebreaking for me. Its just not enough of some elements. But I'll take it.

As for my personal pros
- Manual seems improved.
It feels less random and its easier to pass when you cut inside and you want to pass to your striker for tap in. On previous Fifas ball was always going behind their back towards penalty edge instead inside.
- player momentum
- shots. They were always good. Now even better.
- free kicks work as they should in terms of Spin Vs Trajectory
- players seems switched on more. It was really annoying when you switched to someone and he was just standing there, like he was OFF. Here they move around, with greater ball awareness overall.

Oh! And results! Yesterday I had 0-0, won 0-1, lost 0-5 and won 3-2
Normally you either get goal galore or very few. Here results are lovely and varied.

Still loving it and not looking back or thinking about the classics yet. I am using @Matt10 sliders on WC, Semi controls or Professional with FUMA. Just needed to adjust the sprint values (10/15 is a big gap for me) because the CPU was sprinting across the field constantly without me being able to do much. At times it felt like the damn PES pressure script. I also felt that the CPU rarely shoots from outside the box with the 10/15 sprint slider.

@Anth James I actually used your 4/6 from the PC version and it made a huge difference! At least I managed to stop the frantic behaviour of the CPU for now.

Hard to tell now indeed. Only thing I could say is that no new game could kept me hooked like this since 2017, at least on/near release date. Or, to be more precise - some games I desperately tried to like, even for a good span of time (like Pes 2018), but ultimately it was more frustrating than else. This year I'm having a lot of fun and I'm not thinking too much about the flaws of the game - which are there but aren't stopping me from enjoying it all. Of course I'd rather have Idk, 16 general inertia or at least less twitchy movements, and more fouls.. but even if this stuff isn't there, I don't find it game breaking.

The best thing of it all is that I feel attributes (and tactics) makes sense, in both what I do and what the CPU do on the field. And, like Emroth said above, the variety in results and matches unrolling. That's perhaps the link with all the chapters of the past I loved the most of both the sagas, but for the rest the feel is quite different, even the most recent Fifa I enjoyed (19) honestly feels to me like a quite separate experience.

I think this is the best summary.
Last few years we were all really trying to like football games. Spending hours on tactics, settings, stats, trying different teams, difficulties and whatnot.
We spent most of our time frustrated, trying to make the game playable.
This is a first game in years (from both companies), where I can just... play it.
It feels almost strange to me not to be pissed off every second match.
Not to adjust sliders, not to change settings. Im 21 games into Career Mode season and Im just playing it.
