I find it so hard to quantify because I can see the faults, and I think there are more faults than on 16 and 14 in terms of basic movement and physics. Yet I prefer 22. Which I genuinely feel a bit guilty about... Because I would fight for those things, and I'd say no football game can be truly great without them.

I think 16, modded, is the best football game. Yet it's just a little too... Sterile, for me to play long-term. Realistic to a point, but with none of the things around the edges where great games and/or players seemingly break the laws of probability for a day. The AI for me is a little too dull.

If you gave me the choice, today, tomorrow or next month (providing it's not patched), which I'd rather play - it would be 22 all day long. The variety has me hooked. The AI is probably the most important thing to me and other than the agile dribbling bollocks, it's pretty great - and the engine allows some truly random, great moments over the whole pitch.

Im getting fouls, penalties, injuries, handballs. Just wish it was more balanced on higher difficulties. Im also on professional, but its sad that higher settings dont even get what we do.

Really not sure what to do. I'm hanging on in there for the patch.. Or buy fifa.. Really not sure. In every pes I play it literally everyday for about an hour or more a day. Would this fifa keep me entertained for a year, enough randomness.. Who knows but its enjoyable at the moment.
 
My biggest problem is speed of animations .... I slowed everything down with sliders, but players still turn too fast.
Also AI CB still does not cover cross or pass when you/or oponent break through side.
 
I had a chat with Chris on F22 v F16 (which you know we both love)
I had a little breakdown of all elements there, which to me, makes F22 standing out in this battle

If I try to put it all in perspective and judge it as a whole - it is. [..F22 being better than F16..]

- ball physics is better
- animations are better
- AI is better, more unpredictable
- results are more varied
- shots are better
- sprint bursts are better
- sprint is much more risk/reward (I could sprint all day on F16)
- pace of the game is better
- free kicks/penalty kicks are better

- Fouls are worse
- card are worse
- less injuries
- AI more ping pongy
- and its a bit twitchy due to frostbite

But overall - if you take all the elements - it is better..

Sterile/Dull AI is a great description. After a while on F16 you could predict their moves. In here - there's this spark of madness in AI, which keeps you on the edge. They can start dribble out of nowhere, or shoot from some crazy angle. It adds a lot to overall experience.

Its still early and we are all unsure about our feelings here. Is it really that good or is it the Honeymoon period?
But the stats speaks for themselves.
Most of those who enjoy it are just playing it, without tweaking anything every second match.

I'll give you an example here.

Normally after losing 5-0 like I did last night - Id spent an hour tweaking sliders, changing tactics, looking at all the settings to see what the fuck happened.

Here - I just thought to myself - I was way too sweaty in attack and way too nervous in defense. They started strong and I let myself get bullied and then I got too anxious to catch up, opening myself at the back. I need less panic and more composure. Purely my fault.

Next match was the same team in a Cup match. And they started strong again, scored a goal in 11th minute. I remained calm. Won 3-2.

Esit2: really, they nailed it. A lot of personal minor stuff I could name wich make me happy... I may do that later.

There seems to be a common problem with slowdown (lag). I've experienced it 2-3 times since launch, always in 2nd half during regular play. It was a problem in trial version aswell, hope they fix it cause as I said, looked it up and there are several reports on both console generations about 2nd half issues, slow menus etc.

This was turned off. So I held the mirror up: what can I do? Thought I'd endeavour to find ways to stop the CPU getting into position to do these daft tricks in the first place. And - in the Co-op camera angle - I may have found an answer. Allows me to manage my defence much better, with a wider range of vision than my beloved Tele and without the swing of the new camera angle.

I also tried my second favourite FIFA (and overall favourite football game) formation, the 4-4-1-1. And it all just clicked. I was managing to force the CPU into non-Space Jam attacking approaches and I was getting far more purchase up front than with my favoured 4-2-3-1 Wide.

Two hour warning in the trial and - on today's evidence - I'd buy.

Well, in my book you deserve one. I haven't forgotten not only how you were praising the game all alone, but also how you kept your cool when this topic wasn't certainly optimistic (even towards your opinions/reports). Hat's off to you, whatever will be of Fifa22 :))
 
Can you kick the ball into the net after a goal in F22? There's so many celebrations that I dont even know where to start.. I just want to kick the ball..

Also - never seen them picking up the ball from the net when losing to not waste any time.
I can be down 4-0, score a goal and they are celebrating like they won Champions League.

Netpicking, I know.

I had the picking up the ball in a hurry from the goal animation. Never tried to kick it back in as I thought that ain’t possible.
but I’m fully with you. :D

I knew that if someone knows - it would be you. We were always two weirdos trying to kick the ball in after a goal and after a whistle. Speaking of after the whistle - still trying to see if I can do that. Seen AI doing it and it made me jealous.

i always try to slide on the ground, a last attempt, when the ball is about to go out.
i tried to kick the ball away with the shot button (after the whistle is blown) but that doesn’t work! neither is any attempt trying to hold me back finding new ways to do so! :LOL:

professional, slow, semi controls. Just sprint button on that one I think. I like world class AI but the lack of fouls is too much of a trade off and i'm still losing games on professional.

Did not notice or played in that stadium yet. What I noticed with the broadcast camera is different height and zoom in different stadiums. When I went to a minor club and had a match in the stadium that was really really small, the cam was much closer and I had to remember the camera mods from FIFA 16. It was a bit like that. :)

Yeah, I understand why they do that, for authenticity but I wish they wouldn't :).

Myself and my mate love playing at West Hams ground. The view with the tv cam is great and he plays on standard and loves it.
 
So the best way to play this with sliders on FUMA offline? I dabbled in UT for a while. It's true, the dopamine of playing and building your team is strong. Not spending any real money, fuck that, but just slowly building a team as you win and earn in game. But once you play a few games, everything's too fast and arcadey, even if it's slowed down by a Fifa standards this year. I find the ball much more magnetized than usual and deflections and keeper parries are too favorable. Then there's the lack of inertia and dodgy physics for the sake of responsiveness. I've found my initial enthusiasm for this game dampened by my experience online 😭

Well, in that particular stadium it felt to close for me.
would be great if we could set certain values for each stadium on consoles.
