Oh man. I've got to say... I'm really not impressed.
First thing, if it was occasionally hard to break through the midfield, if you had to grind and pass around to find some free space, and if the AI put you under pressure, I'd love it.
But it's none of those things, and it's way too easy. I found 19 okay with slider tweaks - maybe this will be the same - but it's ridiculous how passive the AI is, and how instant response times and light-as-air players makes it so easy to progress up the field. Every pattern of play is the same.
As for ball physics being improved... Well. This. This nails it.
ball physics sometimes is really good and natural but sometimes is completly off. Main thing that needs to be fixed until game isreleased are hectic movements of the players. I sam many first time shots while players recieve the ball with their back opposing to a goal. It`s improvement over Fifa 19 for sure but not much... ball physics is killing this game for good second year in a row.
I've seen some great pass physics (though they're still too fast), and then out of nowhere, there'll be a backheel or something and you'll actually LAUGH OUT LOUD because it plays out at 3x the speed of the other passes. AND to make things worse, it's perfectly trapped by the recipient. When it wouldn't be physically possible.
There are good bits - the AI does less weird ping-pong (but it still does it very occasionally), and the atmosphere etc. of course.
But when moving through the midfield is so easy, scoring doesn't feel like a reward for your effort. It's pretty emotionless.
Maybe sliders will help a bit, but. Yikes. I was expecting the gameplay to feel more grounded, more realistic, more difficult to break through a defence. But I'm attacking at will, easily taking advantage of all the gaps.
I was expecting to say "well it's a bit better than 19 and that'll do me" but... I don't know, I don't think I can play this. It's nowhere near enough of a change. Nowhere
near.
Perhaps it'll feel better with worse teams (did laugh at Chelsea being 4.5 star) - but I'm not hopeful. It's a no-buy from me (can't quite believe I'm saying that) unless someone tells me it's much tuned at release.
