FIFA 20 Discussion (Console Versions)

The thought that what I'm playing right now could well be the celebrated beta before the patch, is scary. I mean if this somehow got even worse after that, then it must be in a truly horrible state right now.

Nevermind, didn't see the Tweet above.

I really don't like what I've seen from playing the demo.

Volta's cool tho. Anyway we all know that FIFA's pros are the effort they put on the online game modes.

Enjoyed 11 v 11, fast arcade game, control is nice. Volta is nice but... not what I expected, after playing FIFA Street 2012. Still, I dig the concept and support it

Pretty sure this is not the post-patch beta build. And a number of people who've played several builds are saying it's between EA Play and the beta.

More and more I'm thinking the final build will be quite different. Think I'll probably just go back to playing PES until release. I don't trust this demo one bit.
Why would they want to change the gameplay from the demo?

Shit me the demo full manual is really good, didn't expect that.. Got 4 free kicks too just by holding sheild. Must resist until at least first patch

Not that I don't trust Matt. I do.
But I'm still very skeptical about that claim regarding pre-patch beta being as good as FIFA 16.

Alright it's getting late, but I've played 2 matches (on pc, half length extended 10 minute halves, on LEGENDARY).

- The cpu fouled me once. That's one foul in 40 minutes.
- Won the 2nd game 5-3. Basically I think because AI defenders are too passive and passing assistance is again way too much.

This is what build up is like according to fifa 20:

Terrible pass, game adjusts the trajectory and the two cpu players are basically training cones that move slightly. The game is basically unplayable with assisted passing. For the 3rd year in a row you don't have to think about passing.

- Felt like I could keep the ball forever with simple slow dribbling + some strafe dribbling:

I'm surrounded by cpu players but all I have to do is shield the ball from kante. Let me take a wild guess: This is what MANUAL DEFENDING IS ALL ABOUT. It's basically 1 v 1, the other 20 players are glorified training cones with tattoos, until they are "selected".

If this is the final game, I can't wait to go back to fifa 16/14.

(oh, I almost forgot, who's the idiot at EA who changes the ball size every year?)

It just always happens that way. Things get changed due to feedback, while all the extra refining that goes on - especially with dribbling - speeds things ups. Beta 19 gameplay for example I loved, but it had solid AI defending so the FUT crowd hated it and they nerfed it for release. It's just the nature of the beast.

Already a number of pros have come out and said this is a really old build. The reigning world champ - forget his name - said the build he's played is far more responsive.

This is what I'm most worried about. I've been playing as Liverpool and they play nothing like themselves. They're set to press after possession loss but the forwards and midfielders do shit all. Firmino is set to come back on defense but not only does he not press but he just stands up high doing nothing.

It's like you're defending with a bunch of training dummies.

I was playing fifa 14 yesterday, and I was pinned in my final 3rd unable to go forward, however the pressing in 14 is nothing like 19 where everyone is almost man marking your entire team, so that doesn't mean it couldn't work. But definitely not with this passing assistance. In 14 I just could not find or execute the pass. There was some real passing error (and I was playing with assisted passing), I LOVED IT. In 20 passing feels broken once again, and AI defenders are too passive at the same time. What an unfortunate combination.

All I've read on Twitter for the last hour is "so slow".

Absolutely no chance of this getting good. Only sliders can save it, but not enough. I'm really gutted.

Depends on what you mean by slow. I'd expect players in the final release to be more agile, more responsive, which will speed things up. And that's what I'm pretty sure most are complaining about, and quite frankly - for a game that's trying to be more skill based - they ain't wrong.

But hopefully because of the nerf to speed stats, the changes in positioning, the improved tackling, the reduction in attack run frequency... hopefully these things stay in place so it's not as end to end.

Hey Guys,
after playing the Demo earlier today, I was not really impressed. I liked Fifa 19, so I was looking forward to play Fifa 20. But as others already stated, the game is still too frantic and there is always the same, straight attacking build up by the AI. So while being a little disappointed I just started the Demo again after watching @Matt10 Livestream. I wanted to see if there are any options available for a better experience.

So I went to the Tactics and maybe I found a way to get a decent game! What I did was that I went to the Instructions and changed the Defensive Position for all my Central Midfielders to "Cover Center" (as in Fifa 19 this setting is by default set to "Cover Wing"). Then I set the Interceptions for all Defenders and Midfielders to "Agressive".

I played 3 Matches so far and those matches were just great. I play on Legendary difficulty with semi/manual Controll settings. The first match I played as Real at Borussia Dortmund. I didn´t change my formation to defensive but Dortmund kept holding me in my own half. At the end of the game they had 68% Possession. But the best thing was that they really build up their attacks. When there was no room for a forward pass they played the ball back to their defenders or the players kept walking, waiting for an oppurtinity. The second game was with Tottenham at home against PSG. Again the flow of the game wasn´t really wild, but PSG gave me most of the possession to get quick counters. But still, they waited and did not play every ball blindly, with a first touch to Neymar and Mbappe. The third match I played as Liverpool against Real. Of course with these two teams the game will be faster than with other teams. But even with then the flow of the game was more realistic, like in the two games before.

So I don´t know if its some kind of placebo or some typical Fifa randomness, but it would be great if others could try these settings to see if this is actually legit. @Chris Davies @mfmaxpower @Chuny

For someone who extremely dislikes FIFA and has done for a long time, you don’t half spend a lot of time in this thread talking about it.

Just an observation :)

Demo came out today and after playing it why wouldnt i be talking about it? Its a discussion forum right? And a thread to talk about the demo? Also extremely dislikes Fifa is completely wrong on your part. I think its average but i would rather it was good or amazing than average. And i seem to remember you hated the Pes demo and wouldnt stop talking about it so.....

Seriously? I feel like players are awful to handle.
At no point in the demo, in attack or defence, have I felt "damn, I pressed a button / tried to move and nothing happened". Not once.

What I have felt is "why the hell did it let me shoot there when the ball was spinning away from me and my player was off-balance, with a defender in the way". So if anything, it's FAR too responsive. IMO.

It shocks me that someone could think this demo was A) slow and/or B) not as responsive as it should be.

Everything is too fast about it. The pass speed (which is insane), the AI's pass speed (which as always is about 20% faster than the human's passes, most of the time - not even talking about when they break out the driven passes, which DEFY GRAVITY), general movement, sprint speed, the time it takes for a player to (instantly) twist and hit the ball in any circumstance. Every first touch stops the ball perfectly no matter how awkward the speed/spin was.

It's unbelievable. On Legendary, the midfield may as well not be there. A chipped through-ball to the wing is a crossing opportunity every time. No man marking, no physicality, so much space. It's a breeze to get into a shooting position. No grind/reward whatsoever.

I can't quite believe how bad it is - and the fact that Twitter's biggest complaint is that it's "too slow" just signs my personal FIFA death warrant. They'll never make a FIFA that blows me away ever again, because if this is "too slow", fuck.

I've never quite felt so much like the gaming world has gone mad. Or I have, one or the other.

I love this GIF. Always have done:

Me x The Demo

Piled right into Legendary. No messing about. From kick off in my first of three games:

The player movement is utterly atrocious. Unless they're running at full speed it's like they're pop and locking. With the ball at feet the players just judder around until you decide which way you want to release the ball like a lubed-up bullet. I didn't think they could do worse than what 19 was like out of the box - popcorn.

I've just used Cheat Engine v7.0 to raise the typically stupidly low Broadcast cam height to whatever angle I choose for the Fifa 20 demo on PC only of course.

Give me a few hours and I will detail how to do this.

By the way I find once this height is enabled, the animations in the game dont look so bad, but still, as previous posters have said, it is a bit Carlton Palmer Euro 1992........

That Chelsea (Azpilacueta ***) animation is very Tony Adams on the "coaching pitch" for Real Zaragoza a few years back.............................but not as smooth................

*** And yes, I cannot spell.

This high wonderful Broadcast Cam works lovely, but needs some "work" done within Cheat Engine on each game loading up, as the memory addresses are changing every fresh game load, so I will record my session tomorrow and upload to YouTube to show the technique I have used. The game comes alive at a decent height Broadcast Cam angle, just the same as the new Stadium Cam view in PES 2020, I cannot believe in the year 2019 these two companies have never realized the camera angles (simple changes for them with all the money...........but Cheat Engine and/or a genius like Fidel otherwise for us) that we need...
