FIFA 20 Discussion (Console Versions)

If you loved Fifa 16,17,18,19 your going to love this. If you thought those games were bang average your going to think this one is bang average as well.

The players movement is so gangly! It's just really odd and you never feel in total control. Anyone remember Carlton Palmer? Cracking player for Wednesday and EA must of really loved him as honestly it's like controlling 11 big lanky Carlton Palmers.

Players positioning is so rigid, Im PSG and the CPU is attacking but every attack Varreti who you would be expecting to be back helping the defence never comes back and just waits halfway between the box and centre circle waiting for a counter attack pass. It's incredibly rigid.

Graphically i have no idea what is going on at EA but it looks so poor yet that Frostbite engine has done incredible looking games recently.

Shooting - I have read on here how amazing Fifa's shooting is. Honestly it did not feel that different to PES 20, Seemed good like PES 20 but not truly amazing like i was expecting.

Sound, Crowd noises were great, Commentary was really starting to annoy me. He never shuts up!

Overall it does not resemble real football in the slightest, It's like Football v Basketball v Ice Hockey, Forgot to try Volta.

I’ve not tried it yet but will later: this is how I feel about Fifa in general, word for word but it’s been the only choice in recent years for me and older games. I’m already expecting easy transitions and the main attack to be through ball in the centre to and overlapping midfielder at the edge of the box. Hope I’m wrong.

Three games in with legendary. Haven't lost. I scored 4. 0 against.

Can't see any big difference. Maybe the AI is more true to its player. Mane stands out when playing against him fx..

But my biggest problem is the same. I think every player is way too good on the ball. Can't really feel a big difference between Delaney and Christian Eriksen. Also the same thing is happening with passes. I can pass to everyone with everyone.

Maybe the right way to describe it for me is that it is "too perfect". Perfect passes. Perfect technique on the ball. Perfect forward runs.

The presentation is awesome though. A real experience listen to the commentators and the crowd.

I felt exactly the opposite: I couldn't play footie games with the older sibling of the Jet 'cause I couldn't get used to the DualShock 3.
Once replaced the DS3 with a Xbox 360 controller replica, everything's got just 10x better.

To each his own I guess. I still consider the Xbox 360 xontroller the best around (even better than the Xbox One one).
I'm with you on that, the 360 controller is my favourite of all time for all gaming except football gaming, it's weird but I suck with the Xbox controller and play my best stuff with the DualShock!

People saying this plays exactly the same as FIFA 19 either haven't played it and are just trolling OR have just played 3 minutes and turned it off.

It's definitely different to FIFA 19. My issue is that it's too easy on Legendary which suggests the final game will be easy in Career Mode again.

But I'm buying this for multiplayer with friends anyway this year so that's not too much of an issue.

Five games in on xbox one x and fouls cpu 0 me 0 :CURSE:
do they actually watch football, i can honestly say i have never seen a single game in my life with not 1 foul
Time to try it on pc and see how that plays.

Please EA KEEP THE SPEED THE SAME. I love this default speed, multiplayer will actually be fun this year if they don't mess with it.

Which they will :(

Downloaded it.
Played a kick off match, well one half was more than enough. Nothing new to see here. If you prefer that you are in for something good i guess.
Played the volta prologue, its kinda fun but the lack of co-op and online feature makes it useless. Fifa street was damn fun.

A big NO for me. FIFA screams for a new physic engine. Players move like floating on the pitch without dynamic movement. Ball physics maybe are better than last year, but absolutely nothing like "new ball physics".

The only thing i like about this game, is shooting.

FIFA need desperately soul!

Give us some more info, please. Getting worried over here.

Particularly at @fernadez's description of going from attack to defence to attack to defence back and forth with no build-up play, because FIFA 19 definitely does do that.

Haven't played enough - and still have PES wired in the brain - to really feel confident with an opinion, but it definitely without a doubt plays a different game than 19 in the sense that counterattacking isn't nearly as easy and many of the easy ways to create chances in 19 aren't working.

The post below is spot on. Players don't feel right when controlling and the positioning of players is super rigid. I'm playing as Liverpool and it just feels so wrong in defense because your team is so passive. I'd bet money that players will feel much better to control in the final build - because this is how it always seems for me - but pretty worried about the defense against the CPU. Some legacy AI issues definitely are still present.

Overall the flow of the game is more realistic than 19 but it feels really off to me. Maybe that's because I've been playing so much PES in the last month but I don't trust this build at all to be representative of the final game.

Totally agree. I'm betting that players will feel better in the final build but not happing with how defending is playing out. Tackling is okay but your teammates are incredibly passive and they give so much space that sometimes it feels like the CPU can walk through your defense. Clearly this is being built for h2h and online play cause they've totally nerfed any sort of team defending.

Played a few games. Graphics looks the same as FIFA 19. The only thing I noticed that is different from 19 is the ball physics. Ball feels heavier and doesn't spend all the time along the ground when you pass which is a good thing. Taking free kicks looked different but haven't got the hang of that yet.

Well I played hundreds of 19 games and this demo 20 looks, feels and plays almost the same. If there wasn't new colors, I wouldn't know that this is not 19. I dont say it's bad, but nothing new. Legendary is quite easy to play. With fast passing you can outplay ai

What control settings? I've played over 500 hours of FIFA 19 and this demo feels a lot closer to the FIFA 19 demo/initial release than it does current FIFA 19. I'd instantly be able to tell this isn't current patch FIFA 19. To clarify, there's a world of difference between the two aforementioned "versions" of the game. There were plenty of people on this forum last year that claimed FIFA 19 played exactly like FIFA 18 and that couldn't have been further from the truth.

Side note, the look and feel of shooting is probably the best it's ever been in a FIFA game. Shots swerving away from goal, mishits, good weight and punch to shots. The ball physics for shooting are definitely more varied and improved compared to its predecessors.

Salah and Mane are complete menaces to play against, but I think that's partly because I'm getting used to manual jockey. The former shifted my RB and then chipped my keeper and it went in off the post. Felt bad, but looked good. I'm also playing on manual so I wouldn't say Legendary is too easy at the moment. We'll see.

Not getting a ton of fouls, but around 1-2 per match for me. Definitely a couple of instances where I should have been awarded a free kick in a promising position only for the ref to look the other way. Bummer, but unfortunately, not surprised. I feel like the ref is a lot more strict when it comes to sliding challenges in terms of producing cards.

I play on default settings with alternate gamepad control, and on legendary difficulty. Like I said, I don't say it is a bad game, they introduced few new things, but for me it feels almost the same like 19

A pretty mixed bag for me. Defensive AI stuff can still be awful, but they def improved some things for sure. One big thing is you can really see the effect of them doing the sprint/accel stat nerf this year. No more running around like a headless chicken in defense.

But it was like this for me last year. After playing the new PES for about a month, I hated the 19 demo, but then ended up playing FIFA for the year instead of PES.

For all of you who is dissappointed with improvements, relax it might be old build. If you want to see what it actually is, buy the final version..
I'm currently liking it but... Hey, it may aswell be beta pre-patch code as far as I know.
I'll try the full game at a friend of mine (seeing that usually several of them pre-order it or buy it at dayone because of FUT) and see for myself.

Many people say that the beta has been sped up with a patch so it's just a matter of keeping our fingers crossed.

Wow, it feels even more arcadish than FIFA 19. A typical gameplay created for VOLTA.

Awful turf. AWFUL. Lighting quite improved, faces, kits and goal nets look better than in PES, improved quality of the textures (fans, stadiums' roof etc). So little options enabled to be changed, I never play at normal speed picking up the best teams so CL games are way, way x100000 to fast for me. I need sliders, all options enable then I can say whether I like it or not.

Well.. 45 mins of downloading PES 2020 left. Let's make a tea.

ball physics sometimes is really good and natural but sometimes is completly off. Main thing that needs to be fixed until game isreleased are hectic movements of the players. I sam many first time shots while players recieve the ball with their back opposing to a goal. It`s improvement over Fifa 19 for sure but not much... ball physics is killing this game for good second year in a row.

Tried the pc version after a handful of games on xbox
LFC vs Dortmund
Dortmund with machine gun passing was making my head spin, they had 93% pass acc on pc but only in the 70's on xbox.
8 games played with a grand total of 1 foul  even more shocking is it was the cpu that gave the foul away
Shame my full version is on origin pc.
Less said about the terrible volta the better, surprised the ball wasn't on fire and we had power ups etc

Not for me. They must of paid NASA a fortune for the ball physics. The balls feels ok and then cue, random unnecessary floaty bounce like it’s entered a gravity absent vortex. While it felt different, I can see why people say it’s like 19. Same pattens of play, only everything slower and the players aren’t making as many runs, yet the same runs.
Shooting feels much better though, like you can feel it.

It’s just fifa for me, which isn’t a good thing. For others it will be a great upgrade.

If they ever create patterns of play rather than linear left to right running behind the lines as the main way to gain space, then fifa could be phenomenal. I hammered Liverpool, Madrid onLegendary and found I was trying to get myself engaged rather than it engaging me.

Also feel like last year, a month or two and it will be spread up and the exact same experience it is on 19 now, with the odd artificial, unnecessary ball bounce.
