FIFA 20 Discussion (Console Versions)

Its fine for what it is, definitely quicker and more responsive than fifa 19. I'm sure with sliders and semi manual /manual controls the game will really shine especially with the added ball physics

Wasn't expecting much but am happy that il get another year of football gaming without having to spend months editing

Oh man. I've got to say... I'm really not impressed.

First thing, if it was occasionally hard to break through the midfield, if you had to grind and pass around to find some free space, and if the AI put you under pressure, I'd love it.

But it's none of those things, and it's way too easy. I found 19 okay with slider tweaks - maybe this will be the same - but it's ridiculous how passive the AI is, and how instant response times and light-as-air players makes it so easy to progress up the field. Every pattern of play is the same.

As for ball physics being improved... Well. This. This nails it.

ball physics sometimes is really good and natural but sometimes is completly off. Main thing that needs to be fixed until game isreleased are hectic movements of the players. I sam many first time shots while players recieve the ball with their back opposing to a goal. It`s improvement over Fifa 19 for sure but not much... ball physics is killing this game for good second year in a row.

I've seen some great pass physics (though they're still too fast), and then out of nowhere, there'll be a backheel or something and you'll actually LAUGH OUT LOUD because it plays out at 3x the speed of the other passes. AND to make things worse, it's perfectly trapped by the recipient. When it wouldn't be physically possible.

There are good bits - the AI does less weird ping-pong (but it still does it very occasionally), and the atmosphere etc. of course.

But when moving through the midfield is so easy, scoring doesn't feel like a reward for your effort. It's pretty emotionless.

Maybe sliders will help a bit, but. Yikes. I was expecting the gameplay to feel more grounded, more realistic, more difficult to break through a defence. But I'm attacking at will, easily taking advantage of all the gaps.

I was expecting to say "well it's a bit better than 19 and that'll do me" but... I don't know, I don't think I can play this. It's nowhere near enough of a change. Nowhere near.

Perhaps it'll feel better with worse teams (did laugh at Chelsea being 4.5 star) - but I'm not hopeful. It's a no-buy from me (can't quite believe I'm saying that) unless someone tells me it's much tuned at release.

Not for me. They must of paid NASA a fortune for the ball physics. The balls feels ok and then cue, random unnecessary floaty bounce like it’s entered a gravity absent vortex. While it felt different, I can see why people say it’s like 19. Same pattens of play, only everything slower and the players aren’t making as many runs, yet the same runs.
Shooting feels much better though, like you can feel it.

It’s just fifa for me, which isn’t a good thing. For others it will be a great upgrade.

If they ever create patterns of play rather than linear left to right running behind the lines as the main way to gain space, then fifa could be phenomenal. I hammered Liverpool, Madrid onLegendary and found I was trying to get myself engaged rather than it engaging me.

Also feel like last year, a month or two and it will be spread up and the exact same experience it is on 19 now, with the odd artificial, unnecessary ball bounce.

Ha! Very funny first line...
The patterns of.play is the thing that always takes fifa away from me each year, especially for your own team.
I'll be having a go later, really enjoyed fifa 19 for couple or.months.
I wonder whether fifa will ever fix its attacking AI...

Oh man. I've got to say... I'm really not impressed. Basically, this:

No, hang on, either that should have been much slower, or the ball should have bounced off his foot.

I found FIFA 19's difficulty okay, though everyone else in the world found it too easy. Well, it may have been my sliders - cos I've not conceded a goal yet. It's too easy, on Legendary.

There are good bits - the AI does less weird ping-pong (but it still does it very occasionally), and the atmosphere etc. of course.

But general player movement and physics are so nimble and so fast/instant that it just feels... Horrible.

If you wrote like this its mens F20 is not good game. Im not happy because i like F19 very much like my favourite FIFA 1999.

After playing pes20 for few hours it was strange feeling to play fifa , i think because player weight feeling in both games is 360 deeegres different but after two games it was ok :D i think game it is solid base , fifa will shine on slow settings + sliders , i am sure. I didn't notice many tikki taka moments . shooting feelingis first class.

And you know if they did make it harder, it'd be through speeding up their ping-pong passes - not through working on the fundamentals that are so poor.

they desperately need new engine which probably be unelied in the next months pre new generation of consoles. Their bet this year is Volta and bring back more kids to play street football becouse they don't in real life :D
Oh and ofcourse fut players!!!

I think I’ll play FIFA 20 exclusively online (I need my co-op seasons fix) and PES 2020 for single player Master League this season.

You just know Career Mode is going to be laughably easy again.

I don’t know why/how it gets passed by EA’s Quality Control team? Surely they can see that it’s too easy?

I hope you enjoy it pal.
When I complain, it’s more in disappointment than vitriol. It has everything except the gameplay. I’m happy with my other purchase so far.

I thought Legendary wasn't too bad because Liverpool did me in my first match, but the CPU leave the wings wide open. Very easy to get in behind.

Played fifa 19 most of all last year with krebstars sliders. But turned this off after one game, i dont think it’s terrible they just havent addressed the stuff on default sliders that i cant stand. Roll on next gen.

Wow, so many issues.

There is no option to select DirectX API on the settings. And it seems like the game is defaulting to Dx12 now.
I'm getting 42 FPS on cutscenes now with same settings even though graphics barely looks different from FiFA 19. And I had similar performance issues on Dx12 with FiFA 19 too.

And just what the fuck? The ball became small again? They fixed it in FiFA 19, how do they even screw this up? These devs should get fired for breaking things that are fine.

As for the performance issue, if it's the case with full release, i won't be buying this crap. It'd be one thing if there were graphical improvements.

If you loved Fifa 16,17,18,19 your going to love this. If you thought those games were bang average your going to think this one is bang average as well.

The players movement is so gangly! It's just really odd and you never feel in total control. Anyone remember Carlton Palmer? Cracking player for Wednesday and EA must of really loved him as honestly it's like controlling 11 big lanky Carlton Palmers.

Players positioning is so rigid, Im PSG and the CPU is attacking but every attack Varreti who you would be expecting to be back helping the defence never comes back and just waits halfway between the box and centre circle waiting for a counter attack pass. It's incredibly rigid.

Graphically i have no idea what is going on at EA but it looks so poor yet that Frostbite engine has done incredible looking games recently.

Shooting - I have read on here how amazing Fifa's shooting is. Honestly it did not feel that different to PES 20, Seemed good like PES 20 but not truly amazing like i was expecting.

Sound, Crowd noises were great, Commentary was really starting to annoy me. He never shuts up!

Overall it does not resemble real football in the slightest, It's like Football v Basketball v Ice Hockey, Forgot to try Volta.

How can you put FIFA 16 in the same bag with 17, 18, 19 and 20?.
My head is exploding.
I stopped reading right after that.

I believe I found the solution: Go to your Documents folder, then edit FIFA 20 Demo/fifasetup.ini. Set DIRECTX_SELECT to 1 and suddenly the game runs much smoother...

Hi Chris, dont you feel that fifa demos are basically in no way representative of the full game? For instance last year. Where it was crazy fast and easy through midfield and then the first version full game was so different, slow and heavy...

16 was a cracker was it for you? Tbh the past 6 or 7 years for me they all amalgamated into one as they all seemed to suffer from the exact same issues.

I would put money on if i played 16 now and played 20 b2b we would see the same issues but the main issue being they dont resemble/recreate real football.

The thought that what I'm playing right now could well be the celebrated beta before the patch, is scary. I mean if this somehow got even worse after that, then it must be in a truly horrible state right now.

For someone who extremely dislikes FIFA and has done for a long time, you don’t half spend a lot of time in this thread talking about it.

Just an observation :)

I always knew Veratti liked to showoff...
