FIFA 20 Discussion (Console Versions)

The lighting is fine. I actually prefer it to PES which is far too bright.
How many football matches in real life have you been to that look as dull as that? I have just took this pic of a very dull cloudy overcast day here in Glasgow... Spot the difference.

Fifa looks like they are playing in Brazil with the Amazon on fire for the past 3 months with thick black smoke covering any light into the stadium.

Just pre ordered it.
Got a pretty good deal. Traded in PES 2019 (which I haven't played in months) and got it for half the price.
If I know myself, I would buy it sooner or later anyway.

So I hope the videos are misleading and that the game turns out to be good afterall.

I must be the only one who is not bothered by the lack of 100% realistic tables in CM. Even the fact that all fixtures are the real ones and not random annoys me, because I can start a CM for testing many times and it's always playing against the same team over and over. It also makes it more appealing to try leagues that in real life are dominated by a single team every single year. And once the first virtual transfer window is over it's all fantasy anyway.

I love real fixtures but I think they should let you randomize them as an option. It kinda gets Indeed boring when you start a cm with the same team more than once.

I get the difficulty argument (winning the PL with 80 pts for example), but then I imagine having to win 95% of my games to do so, and I think I would be bored of playing/winning long before the end of the season.

If simulating results is broken it should be fixed, no arguments there, it's just that I like how every season can be so different and random with different teams struggling when you wouldn't expect it.

It doesn't need to be 100% realistic, but at least it needs to be hard to win a league title. If you can make it with a random team in your second season without making an extraordinary season, it is what kills career mode longevity for me.
I agree about unpredictability, it is what make this sport special but it is not totally incompatible with the above. In my CM (started with 17/18 rosters, in the second season now), Hoffeneim is completely at the bottom of the table, and in the PL West Ham is currently at the third spot.

Yes, but what if I am playing so good, and I am winning every match, no matter cpu level or my team strength?
If not, is it a cpu cheat in a game where I must lose, so the table could be realistic?

It is very hard to make a balance so everyone is satisfied.

I don't think he is talking about when you are playing games against the AI yourself, but when the AI is playing each other. If you can win Premier league with 70 points the challenge is much less than if you must get 80-90 to win.

I love that (sorry for bringing in Pes) that playing a ML you can't lose more than 3-4 games and draw very few to beat Juventus in Serie A.
Or like the recent PL season were Liverpool lost one game and still came in 2nd place, not like my villa career where spurs/City won on 67 Vs 69 points.
Shameful

I guess it's in all the stores, I saw the offer on their website. Traded in FIFA 19 aswell for a few bucks.
Sounds tempting, even though I pretty much only buy digital nowadays, almost always a better deal, was at GameStop the other day flicking through used games, most were almost half the price digitally.
But it's always nice having game stores so you can browse around

In this video from 18:26 nice action by AI. Animations and passing are beautiful.. :) Like in real football match..

Is it just me or the level of detail (LOD) has been improved? I can see better the hairstyles, shirt names, etc. Also, the game is lot smoother.

The table results and player statistic are pretty immersion breaking. What I find even more frustrating is that it's been a decade or so since I was last sacked in a FIFA career. I never feel like my job is under threat.

It’s too easy game-to-game to get sacked that’s why. I’ve just gone on a 7 game wining streak with Hull in FIFA 19 without even having to break sweat, in Ultimate. I had to turn it off. I conceded just two goals in all of them matches. I’m Hull City. Not Man City.

It annoys me so much. FIFA has the potential to be so good but EA just don’t want to let their creative side take over, they allow the FUT idiots run the show.

Just been watching some gameplay videos from FIFA 16, 17 and 18, how are the running animations, ball physics, player models and dribbling better in those games than Fifa 19 & 20?! The AI was a lot more challenging to play against and there were a lot more random occurrences because of the way the ball felt loose in Fifa 16 and 17, I am so confused how they have completely messed up the fundamentals of this game. How is this even possible?

If you have the time guys just go and watch videos and objectively compare, i cant believe how far EA have drifted from the solid foundations of Fifa 16, its a shame.

I think you're somewhat confused. Or at least I think differently.
FIFA 17, 18, 19 and 20 are cut from the same cloth: Frostbite. The foundation is the same. The movements are the same (some new animations included with every new release, but the basics are the same).

FIFA 16, 15, 14 were a different thing: Ignite.

So when you say FIFA 16, 17 and 18 have better animations than 19 and 20, it throws me off. Either you don't have to include FIFA 16 in that group. Or you shouldn't include any of the rest you mentioned.

Animations and overall movement mechanics are far, indefinitely fat better on pre-Frostbite Games. But specially in FIFA 16.

That's the same thing I've been thinking for a while now. Fifa 16 is such a wonderful game, still feels fresh to me and to a lot of other people. It would have been the perfect game to build upon. It seems it wasn't perfect for what they had in mind unfortunately..

Still think (not comparing to 16) that there's a huge difference between 17/18 and 19.
Been playing those games every other day on my old cm saves.

FIFA 18 is a blessing Vs 19,even though I find it very good now that I'm playing outside the PL,huge difference in gameplay playing La Liga Vs PL.
Equally good players in both leagues behaves so differently.
85 ovr rated players in Athletico M/Valencia etc behaves according to their stats, while 80-85 ovr PL players are sub human in their behaviour.
That's my take on FIFA 19.

18 on the other hand has a pretty good ai, building up play (not in the PL of course it's forward at all costs)
A much more calmer game play.
Same thing with 17.
Huge difference between 17/18 and 19

Is David Rutter still the main guy at Fifa HQ? Still the producer for 20? I remember him having a love for PES and you could clearly see that in Fifa 08,09,10 etc but it moved so far away from those games and PES as if someone else was in charge?

Genuinely saw the first pic and thought, "that can't be Glasgow; it's dry" and then bam! :LMAO:

i just hope they are going to add all champions league/europa league teams, last year they didnt, same with pes when they had the license
anyone remember what was the time last year when they announced all team for fifa 19?

Have EA said anything on Volta being full of MT or is it grind it out and buy stuff that way?
I guess it'll be full of jerseys/hats/pants/shoes to buy in that mode, customise you and your squad to death!
Question is,will you earn it or pay for it?

Edit,to answer my own questions,no loot boxes there!
