FIFA 20 Discussion (Console Versions)

I've posted this over on the FIFA Reddit to try and get it some traction. I doubt it'll work, but... more people need to see this shit. If FUT guys complain, it'll get looked at.

If I've learned anything about the average fut player, it's that if Ramos didn't clear the ball the way he did, and they somehow conceded a goal, they would post about it and rage about how they were pressing X to clear the ball but the game is rigged.

It's amusing watching what happens to games when you're trying too hard to address feedback based on who shouts louder. I'm curious to see what will happen with their other complaints about online lag and servers and stuff. They thought the game was so slow it would be unplayable online, but a faster game needs to know your input much more frequently and a more reliable network connection. But what do the devs know, this Kurt guy that everybody listens to for no good reason, knows better.

In slightly happier news, this looks pretty decent. From Gamescom, v Professional AI (beginning to think a lot of issues are just difficulty level related, we NEED to be able to customise them more):

Alisson standing bouncing the ball like Rafa Nadal for ages before kickouts, I can see that getting irritating after a while!

Damn that Fifa reddit really isn't interested at all in gameplay issues. When even the community acts like this how can you hope EA will do something to address gameplay?

Don't know if you noticed but reddit fifa is all about FUT and reddit pes is all about gameplay. That should be enough to tell you why EA will never be pressed to care about gameplay.

reddit pes is all about gameplay.
At the moment with the demo, maybe... After release it'll be 80% MyClub ("look who I got", "new featured players" etc.), 10% free kick gifs, 5% shitting on FIFA, 5% actual worthwhile content/discussion. I gave up reading it months ago.

It seems the majority of the community for both games consciously chooses to prioritise the P2W/grinding modes MyClub/FUT. If you say anything negative about those modes you usually get downvoted to oblivion. The actual football aspects of a football game are the least important to these people.

It's more the time of year than anything else. 19 has been bashed to death, while most are waiting to get hands on with the FIFA 20 demo. There's plenty of gameplay discussion throughout the year, it's just there's also tons of FUT discussion too.

And while Chris posted about a real and clear issue, it's hardly a major concern. Sorry, but there's just more things to be worried about than an overly hard hit clearance header. Don't forget, one of the biggest concerns in the community is reducing RNG, and this might be a situation where realism needs to take a backseat until EA can sort their shit out in the penalty box.

Also, as someone replied in that thread, if you played the beta then you know the ball physics are improved. Issues remain, yes, but it's a clear improvement. In the beta, you could barely score from a header, so obviously posting about headers still being insane is going to get a mixed response when that's simply no longer true on the attacking side, which is what most were concerned with.

Sad news for us who care about realistic scorelines and top goal scorers in career mode. It seems pretty much the same as in FIFA 19. This is from a guy who created a "Super League" in career mode

As you can the see the top goal scorer just managed to score 17 goals in a whole season and neither Messi nor Ronaldo is in the top 15...

Can't believe how some career mode players think it's a bigger issue if Aguero has an outdated hairstyle than this.

Its going to be the same as 17-18-19.
Agüero 17 goals in 38 games winning the golden boot.
And Spurs winning the PL on 67 points.

Find the pace in this video much better than in some of the previous from Gamescom. It sure does look better when people are playing against AI.

Like Chris's video it's like watching a totally different game from what we have seen so far. Release the demo EA!

The only problem for me is again the lighting, How can a day match look so dull and lifeless.

That's probably an overcast match?.
Day lighting is by far in FIFA. Best lighting with Frostbite. You can really appreciate the sun, or the moving clouds casting shadows accross the pitch. That's the only thing good Frostbite has brought.

An overcast match has to be brighty than that though that surely? Life on overcast days just aint that dull :D Frostbite does have incredible lighting though Battlefront 2 and BF 5 have insane lighting and graphics i just dont understand how Fifa can be so far behind other Frostbite games graphically it's even behind PES judging from what i have seen.

An overcast Carrow Road

I checked even during the past few months. The front page is always 99% FUT, nobody complaining about gameplay.

That's "lazy" work from them because it is quite easy to fix on PC. I have made my own edits for fifa 16 (only one file: simsettings.ini) building on @Topaz work (aka TheAwsomeGem) and I am really happy with every aspects. Standings, points, goal scorers, passers, average goal by match ect are much closer to real figures.

For example in my second Bundesliga season, the Bayern is seven points clear from the second and 10 points from me (Dortmund) after 20 games played. They have only one lost game and four draws. My board asked me to win the tittle and I started the season with 6 wins so I was like hey I can make it. But the Bayern is a winning machine and you have to cope with their rhythm if you want to pretend being a title contender, which quickly turned not being the case for my Dortmund team.

Its so poorly they can't fix it on console, been there since FIFA 17
On my ML on Pes 17 /18/19 I've had Juventus running away with the league finishing it with 5-6 Draws and 2-3 losses maximum.
Winners on FIFA has 12-15 draws,it's so poorly.
And it needs fixing before I buy it, obvious flaw, just like no fouls

Is that the latest build of FIFA though? I'm sure I've seen one where they have put in the new kits, so I'd guess that would be later in the dev process? They usually have the new kits in the demo - which historically has been very close to what's being played at Gamescom.

The lighting is fine. I actually prefer it to PES which is far too bright.

In this video from 18:26 nice action by AI. Animations and passing are beautiful.. :) Like in real football match..
That's the same video @Chris Davies put up right?
Some good stuff, but also,no passing backwards,it's all forward forward forward.
Even when the CPU is under pressure and should play back to their defenders, they don't!
To me that's not much of real football at all, sorry to be/sound like a hater ,but it's rubbish!
Nice pace though

You must be looking at the wrong times or something, cause there's been plenty throughout the year. Like I said, the FUT stuff can dominate, but there's more good gameplay discussion there than anywhere else. Shit, more words were probably spent on Reddit in this past year debating AI defending alone than all that goes on in here in regards to gameplay. Discussing single player gameplay... that's a different story.

A lot of you are gonna be pleasantly surprised when the demos released.
From someone who’s actually played the game it’s a lot more difficult on legendary and ultimate in career mode than fifa 19 was.
The spaming of pace down the wings going around the defensive backs and then angling towards goal is a lot harder.
And your pacey strong forwards also have less freedom and space due to the tweeting of the AI.
I do believe that the Ai could use a bit more tweaking themselves as an attacking threat as I still drew a lot of games more because I couldn’t score easily than they were scoring on me.

My advice quiet listening to the loudest ppl moaning who 90% haven’t played the game and videos where u never have a feel for it or even know what settings there using.

Wait for the demo and put it on legendary and trust me even if you don’t like it you will still agree it’s not as easy as 19.

And another point stop whining about games being fifa 19.5 etc. all sports games are the last one .5 apart from every (an average of) 4 years when a new engine or system comes along.
Fuck all the best Pes games 3 through 6 and beyond on PS2 were all minor changes but each game got better with slight adjustments and tweaks.

Calm down stop whining and make a decision when the demo is released.

I wasn't paying too much attention to details but player movement and the general speed of the game looks so much better in this video compared to everything else from gamescom. Does anyone speak turkish to understand what he's saying or ask the guy about this version? Is it the demo? Beta-prepatch?

Career Mode youtubers have already said that it’s too easy even on Ultimate. That’s why I’m “whining”.

I have asked him your question. Hopefully he will reply. Also he is saying a couple of things about the game:

- FIFA 20 feels like a small update over FIFA 19 because there are no obvious changes in gameplay (this was his first game on FIFA 20);
- He was playing on professional level;
- The matchday atmosphere is very good (better than FIFA 19).

To be fair, if you put all the best teams in one league you wouldn't expect the top scorer have 30+ in a season
they are against some of the best defense in the world

I must be the only one who is not bothered by the lack of 100% realistic tables in CM. Even the fact that all fixtures are the real ones and not random annoys me, because I can start a CM for testing many times and it's always playing against the same team over and over. It also makes it more appealing to try leagues that in real life are dominated by a single team every single year. And once the first virtual transfer window is over it's all fantasy anyway.

I get the difficulty argument (winning the PL with 80 pts for example), but then I imagine having to win 95% of my games to do so, and I think I would be bored of playing/winning long before the end of the season.

If simulating results is broken it should be fixed, no arguments there, it's just that I like how every season can be so different and random with different teams struggling when you wouldn't expect it.
