FIFA 20 Discussion (Console Versions)

God, he pretty much says it's just FIFA 19, and he's a Game Changer.

The more footage I see of this new build, the more I absolutely hate it. Definitely not buying it new this year.

Which will be difficult when playing the demo, and knowing what could have been.
Hot garbage. EA have caved in again to the FUT crowd or whoever.

Plus it’s STILL too easy.

EA, scrap that woeful engine and start from scratch. This looks identical to FIFA 19 and will have all of the same issues.

I’m not messing around with sliders all year because they always break stuff as well.

I’m so disappointed.

What is a "game changer"? Also what is going on with the night lighting? First screen looks really good and natural looking with great looking grass but the 2nd look awful and not pleasing on the eye at all.

The answer may be in the competition there. One screen is a Champions League match, with the other being an EA cup. Could be they apply a filter to Champions League matches which is a bit strange. Such filter use I would associate more with movie production rather than live TV broadcast.

It's not a terrible idea to have filter options in these games, but I'd say more for fun and trying to capture different broadcast era's, as opposed to applying filters on a per comp basis.

FIFA has had "Regionalization Color Palettes" since FIFA 18.
FIFA 18 had 3.
FIFA 19 has 8. (Neutral, UK, South American, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, USA, UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE and UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE). I know it because I've seen the files and modded them.
FIFA 20 will probably have some more because they may need to add specific styles for Volta.

So what you're seeing is just that. A Champions League game VS a Kick-Off mode game.
I like the Champions League blueish tinted lighting although the image is a bit TOO cold.

That's crazy, I always thought it would be cool if a football game could apply some sort visual filter depending on what league you'd play in, as we know when you watch a south American game on TV or Youtube, The production just looks different compared to what you're used to domestically - But i didn't think EA would actually commit to it! I just assumed the different colours was something to do with the HDR on my TV.

8 different night lightings sounds impressive very impressive infact but only if they look good. I just think that bottom screen the colour palette looks vile and i've never watched a match on TV that looks like that i dont think. Anywhere on the net that shows all the different lightings off?

No idea.
I've taken screenshots of each for reference. But I'm not at home right now.
If you have FIFA 19 on PC I can tell you how to see them for yourself though.

I suppose it comes down to which angle people are coming from.

For me, it is totally inverted and backwards. The game is designed for a competitive gaming market, fast paced, reaction based etc Gamers who play Fifa, rather than it being designed solely as an accurate football game with competitors adapting to its play.

I suppose that is where the money is though and it doesn't take long for a generation to be moved on. In the future there will be no one left who remembers a decent footy game that wasn't like a Haribo Acid style trip advertised by gurning "top bins bro" characters.

The game absolutely isn't being designed for the competitive market. It's designed to please everyone, which is the problem.

I did that for PES 2017 to be fair. Might sound arrogant but it's the truth.
I don't know and I don't think I've inspired someone at EA or at PES, but before I did that, they never cared about LUTs before.
Now PES is doing something with them as well.

CUT IT OFF THE OFF-TOPIC CHUNY :CURSE:.

The ball physics are absolutely atrocious. It's like some bizarro world version of football.

Came across this near the start of that video and couldn't stand watching any more

Ramos, jumping backwards, heading this 40-50 yards away... What the fuck is that? In 2019 these are the physics of the most popular football game on the market...

That is appalling :LMAO:

It went much further than 20 yards, and he was jumping backwards, not even planting his feet. The momentum on the ball is coming from nowhere... It's just one example but this kind of alien ball physics is so obvious to me when watching or playing any recent FIFA game. For me, convincing physics are absolutely essential to any sports game.

@LaGarraCharrua! - I think it's the gif, these gfycat links I use are not the greatest quality but at least appear in the forum. You can click the gif to go to an HD/smoother version.

Any of you are going to pre-order FIFA 20 or have you already?
Hellllllll noooo.

Not buying FIFA again until they leave Frostbite Engine. Game has been super easy in Single Player since FIFA 17 and that's not going to change until they change engines. I don't want to be top of the league with Hull City leading with 30+ points every season, no thanks EA!

That's my hunch, that I could pick it up and win the Champions League with Stevenage in five seasons on the hardest setting.

You could. Honestly, I’ve never understood it when people claim modern day Fifa is difficult. I’m not even particularly good at the game.

But it’s so easy to work out how to exploit the CPU and on top of that, in Fifa, when your players win a game or two and have the ‘upwards’ form arrows, it’s 2-0 and 3-0 wins every single game.

Where as, before Frostbite, even on World Class I would lose lots of games.

Couple this with ZERO fouls in nearly every game, which is also the same for FIFA 20 by the looks of things, and it’s one dreary Career Mode. With or without sliders.

The only way to make it harder is go semi or fuma. But that doesn’t make the CPU attack you more or play more intelligently, it just means you don’t score as frequently. And when you master semi, you’ll be winning every game again. So that leaves FUMA. Which is a load of horseshit in my opinion because game stats and attributes should be the deciding factors, not how long I hold the stick or button down for.

Game is wonky, man. It’s bugged to shit now.

It's been easy the past few years and only since reconnecting with this forum have I realised the correlation between that and the Frostbite engine. I wouldn't consider myself a great FIFA player. I don't know any still moves. But I can read the AI like a book.

I was coasting on full manual on 18 and I share your view. Especially given that I know semi-assisted can be done, in golden era PES and Ignite FIFA.

Yes i've pre order FIFA 20 ultimate version.
I play Fifa since the first one.
I've played more than 400 matchs on career mode.
All FIFA 20's footage look better than FIFA 19 : better animations, better GK, better IA, better career mode, full of new starheads, Volta mode who is perfect to play with Friends for the fun, etc...
With sliders I think I will be a very good game because you can reduced pass speed, and have more errors.

Not me.

With the introduction of impact engine till now, I don’t like the feeling while handling players. Player physics and animations are weird and don’t have the explosiveness i want. I like almost everything in newer fifa’s but the above.

Do you remember the fantastic fifa 11 and fifa wc 2010? I still love these games. They had this explosiveness. Was more simple in movement but they do it right.

So I won’t buy fifa 20. I hope with new consoles, EA change gameplay engine. Not just graphic engine.

As much as I hate to be a part of the problem, I'll buy FIFA 20 and PES 2020 as soon as they hit shelves. In fact, I'll use my EA Premier to gain access to the former a week early. Why? Simple; I need my fix. Even if I think the games will make for a subpar experience, I can't not buy them. I don't have that sort of self-control when it comes to football games.

Fast forward to half time and full time stats. It’s the first thing I do on both games for fouls. PES DEMO has somewhat addressed the lack of fouls and physicality that was lost after 2017, fifa hasn’t although I think it’s a choice not a engine limitation
