FIFA 17 News & Discussion Thread

Took some time off PES to play the demo. It plays really nice! A little bit like 16 but I think the AI improved. Im really impressed with the graphics, the colors really pop out. Lighting improved so much. So far played 3 games and enjoyed it a lot even though i struggled.
If they add sliders to fine tune the gameplay I think itll be quite enjoyable. I hope they dont patch it up and speed it up. I found the pace to be good (knowing EA they will do a good patch, followed by a bad patch, followed by a patch that fixes 2 things but breaks 1)

Are people already coming over to my side...hmmm quicker than expected

I know I'm being annoying, sorry guys. I just know I'm right on this :BYE:

Beta had sliders , don't worry they will be in the final game aswell.

Gameplay is really good and refined version of Fifa 16 , shooting is way better and realistic..Biggest addition is holding the ball with LT(On Xbox) It adds great depth in gameplay.

yeah it's a big improvement having holding the ball with LT also the player having to be in proper position to get off a good shot or pass, also the movement is excellent. this is starting to replicate real football and more sim less arcade.

Player shielding is a nice idea but poorly implemented as it stands, imo.

Same thing every year, buzzword marketable features added whilst the core gameplay is still lacking. Offline is still absolutely atrocious to play. I like that agility/dribbling has been toned down, though.

Ok, just confirming, EA Access will be the full game not only FUT like their twitter account posted last week:

"FIFA 17 is changing the game, and EA Access members can see how first with the FIFA 17 Play First Trial. We're not talking a demo – get full access to the game for 10 hours and start building your FUT team five days before launch."

I think this year's FIFA could be a grower. Wasn't sure about it at first but I'm warming to it with every match. That's a good sign.

There's a slightly heavier, more planted feel to it. Shots and passes seem more contextual and natural. Player models, faces and kits have taken a step up (on a par with PES, if not better). Graphics are pretty sweet although I'm not sure about the night lighting. Perhaps a touch too dark.

So far so good.

I can somewhat agree with this.

It's just everytime they implement a new feature they always overdo it. Every Ea title

i love the detail in kits, i too think overall it looks better then PES...3d grass/goals/pitch/lighting it all looks uniform. everything looks as good as the rest.
not talking about the gameplay.

I think that player instructions still do not work; I set Casemiro as DMF, stay back when attacking but he was often going forward alongside Benzema.
Also: his generic face is terrible. No face mods for 17 will be a problem.

The net physics are really nice but, like you say, the actual look of the nets just isn't right. I think the netting itself is too thick (if that makes sense)
I agree. The hexagonal nets from the usual gameplay cameras look like a bed sheet with pin holes. Close up they look okay.

Last night i was playing against Chelsea on world class and they broke away down the right whipped in a near post cross and ivanovic was in centre forward position to slide it home..didnt really feel good but i was tired and easily annoyed..im not pre ordering this just yet until after first patch.

You described it better than me. Looks fine zoomed in but the net/hole ratio looks similar from gameplay cam.
Nets should only be partially visible from a gameplay cam, not like a solid box.

Been playing a lot of PES 2017 and finally took a go on the demo (PS4).

I loved FIFA 16 and didn´t think I wouldn´t like this one before I played it.
WTF!?
The game looks absolutely brilliant! The lighting, the turf...simply amazing!

Also the animations look a bit better than in FIFA 16. Loving the sprinting animations.
I won´t buy or preorder it yet...I´ll wait for the full game and all of your reviews and then maybe I´ll get it, even I have a lot of fun with the other game.
I need to try the PC demo because last year I felt that even on slow the PS4 demo was a bit faster than the PC one.

If FIFA had been released before PES...things for me would have been vice versa probably, as EA doesn´t shit on the PC version.

I hope moddingway is gonna do some magic here and that the cam tool I used on 16 works here too.

I've watched the video and heard other people mentioning how the AI is better when you change their tactic to long ball etc but surely we shouldn't need to switch sides, change that and then switch back to get a bit of variety.

Enjoying the demo in general but I've just played 2 games, one v. Gamba and another v. Juventus. They both ended with 90+% passing and I didn't have to defend one cross into the box.

This is amazing. Please don't change anything EA (they will).

I just can't see myself staying interested in PES 2017 for a whole year and need a good online game.

same here but i didn't like 16 enough to purchase but this is a buy.
this games beautiful compared to the other.
free kick system is light years ahead of the other.
foot planting / body position matters / 3d grass / ball physics / and on and on!
i'm getting to the point where i can't stop playing this thing..
and i liked PES demo but next gen fifa is very nice indeed..

The big issue I still have with FIFA is that the game plays too differently depending what camera we use. The default camera makes the gameplay slower but it's difficult to create chances for my attackers.

Tele Broadcast is my go-to camera angle but for some reason the game speeds.

It's bizarre.

You edit teams' tactics before starting your season/career. No switching sides required.

I could have written this. Love FIFA 16, had zero interest in the 17 demo until I downloaded it this morning and... wow. Not only looks fantastic - huge lighting upgrade from 16 - but it plays beautifully as well. I will buy and download the game on release day, and then stay offline so as to avoid the inevitable EA updates that always screw up the demo-style game play lol.

I will still be buying the final game and I hope that this demo is not representative of the final product as some improvements are needed in some key areas.

I am finding the lack of individuality between teams much worse than previous years (FIFA has always struggled in this year but this demo it is even worse than usual), they all play the sameway and do not have their own defined styles. For someone like me who plays almost exclusively on career mode this becomes an issue as the game becomes predictable and boring. Although with sliders things can be tweaked somewhat.

The other issue is the button lag. I am a visable delay between me pressing the button and the player carrying out that command. At first I thought that my controller was knackered or that my PS4 was on it's way out but the same happens on my mate's PS4.

So it is fair to say that I have not enjoyed this demo, fair play to those of you have. I will still buy the game but for me there are areas that need addressing with the day 1 patch.

Has anyone else tried the demo on multiple systems?

I played the demo on the PS4 last night and the game is different to the PC demo, the PC has a slower game speed.
The PS4 version also has input lag I have not noticed as much as the PC version.

So I am starting to think the even the demos do not have the same build.

There was a video (here?) that shows how changing team tactics works this year like never before. So with a few CPU team tactic edits before starting your career, it sounds like this will be a non-issue.
