FIFA 15 News & Discussion Thread

Just played a bit of the PS3 demo. The computer play in such a way that I'm surprised EA aren't worried about it putting people off. I mean the key is to hide the fact you're playing against what is essentially a robot, but their style of play is completely robotic, and unfortunately, completely effective. I don't think they make any mistakes and that's only on World Class. I've no doubt it's better against human players where human error is accounted for just like in the real game.

The game is as capable as anything else EA have put out in the past few years (no surprise really) but one thing that strikes me is that players on the ball have an easier time turning around than players off of it. How did EA manage that one? I'm still waiting for a football game where attacking is harder than defending but I don't think this is it.

PS3 impressions

Love the Anfield atmosphere. Just me or the graphics are a bit worse than in 14?

As someone mentioned, controlling a player, especially a skilled one is way nicer, you can get past a defender with L stick only and that sets apart the more agile, nimble players from the heavier ones.

I really like the little improvements but i have 2 complaints...the ball seems to "balloon" a lot ant the game even on slow IS TOO FAST.

With proper sliders i like the potential of this game but i am still holding hope i can go back to Pes this year.

ps-From the NG videos this is the moment i wished i had a ps4 :COOL:

they've FINALLY added the offside goal thing pes has where you think its a goal and you see them celebrate with the commentary saying its a goal and the it shows the linesman.
Absolutely love that on pes so I'm made up its here.

Some nice touches there with the linesman ducking out of the way of a ball and City drawing in the last few mins so took it into my corner and held the ball up, doing tricks etc. They might have been in 14 but not noticed before.

:YAWN: just saying

Have played a good few hours of the demo now.

The presentation and authenticity is great. They've really gone to town on the game. The commentary also seems to have improved and the crowd interaction is fantastic.

Gameplay-wise I've not noticed a huge leap from FIFA14. Still feel at times to be held-back by the game, passes going astray when I'm clearly aiming in the right directions, and build up moves feeling a little stiff and difficult to get going if I'm generally just passing. I find that the only real freedom I get is from playing sweaty over the top through balls, run absolutely everywhere on the pitch or ping-pong one touch passing football - which is not how I want to play. Defending also still feels a bit hit and miss, clumsy tackling, player switching problems, it's frustrating.

I've also scored a lot of goals in the demo, but there's no real oomph to the shooting.

This may be petty but I'm putting it out there anyway. I'm still not digging the player models. Up close the bodies are just so out of proportion and when they move sometimes it's cringeworthy. Players also don't seem to fully extend limbs.

I'm sorry to be such a naysayer, but I pinned a lot of hope on the fundamentals of the gameplay being changed for the better considering the implementation of a new jockying system, and this emphasis on a free football experience. I'm just not feeling it. I feel like I'll burn out like every other year on FIFA.

Demo Impressions (all matches played on Legendary; default settings)

* First thought: Players, ball feel heavier. Maybe most important of all, the movement bias that was present before with players in defense is gone. This could make defending much more difficult. Dribbling is different from 14 and will take some getting used to. Looks like they've massively toned down the initial sprint speed burst with R2.

* Second thought: Player models are fine. I HATED them in all the gameplay vids but they're adequate.

* Third thought: This is gonna be good; if only they'd put a tiny bit of effort into CM this year my excitement would be through the roof.

* Defensive AI. Looks like they've shored up some of the biggest problems with the defensive backline AI, which was one of my top gripes with FIFA 14. Still might be a bit too easy to create chances, and we'll have to see if we find exploits as we go.

* Chance creation might still be too easy. HOWEVER, appears as if they've made taking those chances much more difficult. Lots of opportunities that would've led to goals, or at least dangerous shots, did not happen.

* Attacking AI. It's improved but by how much? Still a bit worried that the CPU will present enough of a challenge long-term. I played all matches on Legendary in the demo and would've liked to have seen a greater challenge. CPU still makes some really terrible pass/shot decisions.

* Pace of the game is great, a little slower than 14 because of increased player weight and toned down movement of defensive/off the ball players. CPU still doesn't vary its pace like I'd want with rarely slowing its buildup speed, even when winning. Midfield can still be too easily bypassed.

*Auto-tackle seems hugely toned down. This with changes to contain and player movement makes defending feel entirely different for me.

* Team Management. Not sure how I feel about it. Certainly an improvement but doesn't seem very efficient, like in player comparison for example. A shame they don't make use of more screen real estate, especially in single player where only like 1/3 of the screen is being used. Seems kinda slow.

* Player instructions could be a huge addition. In my first experiment with it, down against Dortmund with PSG, I switched Lavezzi to come short for passing support and stay wide for movement; I brought Lucas on for Cavani, and put him as stay up for defensive support and told him to make inside runs. Next play, Lavezzi comes short for a pass, he passes to Ibra in the center, Lucas is actually in striker position where he receives pass and scores. Awesome seeing my instructions have an immediate and profound impact on the game. (I then parked the bus and weathered an attacking onslaught by Dortmund, also cool.)

* Player individuality. Noticed immediately that top, top players stood out when playing against CPU. Against PSG, every time Ibra received the ball it was like fuck me, fuck me, fuck me. Against Liverpool, Sterling ripped me to shreds. To shreds. Still would like to see more individuality in passing game and in defense.

* Team individuality/tactics. Interestingly, I was disappointed that I thought playing with Dortmund didn't feel right, but when playing against Dortmund it did, with them immediately pressing me high up the pitch especially noticeable. Same with Barca: didn't feel quite right playing with them (and maybe this is entirely on me) but they sure played like Barca as the CPU.

* So many little additions and so much variety. I thought this with NG 14 upon release though, so we'll see how long 15 retains this feeling.

* More fouls. Or at least now they're being called. And in my second match there was an actual red card to the CPU - a terrible tackle by Steven Gerrard. Awesome to see this. Hope it stays for full release.

* Player awareness can still be poor in loose-ball situations but maybe it's improved?

* Teammates can still be frustrating slow to help on defensive/get back.

* Injuries! Saw a good number of injuries. Will be shocked if this isn't toned down.

* Legendary difficulty still a bit too easy. It was a challenge, but I'd like another level of difficulty to work up to considering I'll be putting hundreds of hours into it.

* Keepers are fantastic and great addition. Except for when they're terrible, which for me was rare. Parries and rebound goals could be an issue.

* Possession stats still too much in my favor, even against Barca on Legendary.

* Defensive contain appears to be even more useless now. Maybe entirely useless?

* Sprint dribbling overpowered? I dunno but it seemed like I was a bit too effective creating chances using sprint.

* Shooting feels a bit off maybe? On the other hand, the amount of shots that missed the target felt more realistic, so maybe this is actually an improvement.

* Presentation: outstanding, as expected. Pitch is awesome. Kit detail needs improving. Love the new replays, and love how replays are showing when you pause the game.

* Commentary doesn't appear to be bugged and FUBAR like it was in 14, thank god.

Overall: first impressions of gameplay is high, but the question is how will these impressions change over the next several months? Will we find more killer exploits? Is there sufficient depth and challenge? Will there be bugs? Will us single-players be able to tolerate another year with a hardly touched CM? Who knows but I look forward to finding out.

Does anyone have a very serious lag/slowdown on ps4??
Had to disconnect the LAN cable and restart it! Connecting to Origin seems to fuck everything up.
I'm seriously regretting getting a PS4 instead of an XboxOne.

a little TIP for for people having a good PC (powered by a nvidia gpu)

1) go to FIFA 15 Demo Config and tick "no limit frame rate"
2) open control panel and add FIFA 15 demo exe to list...after this enable V-SYNC

this little tip improves frame rate when the cam is behind the player (like free kicks, goal kikcs and corner kicks) and you can get 60fps..Fifa 15 demo normally locks it to 30fps...check it out

this way I have 4930fps on menues, 240fps gameplay cameras y 130fps behind the players, when I lock 60fps , i obtain 60 fps gameplay and 30fps behing players camera

can you test with fraps?

should be 60fps all cameras, gameplay and behind the players

Try disabling the uPNP on network settings.

did you remind to ENABLE v-sync from your NVIDIA control panel?

Apart from the "lag" issue, the game looks amazing.
For me it's a huge improvement from fifa14 on x360/ps3, in all areas.
Can't wait to try it in multi-player.

Scored some very realistic looking goals with Aguero. Wish we could record goals in the demo. Can't be arsed using fraps etc.

Looks decent but the running animations still look weird at times, like they're about to topple over head first

Bit disappointed that cutscenes and replays are locked at 30fps

If you have an NVIDIA 6XX or above series card, you can use Shadowplay to record while you play.

Use wordpad or notepad to create a file cl.ini (NOT cl.ini.txt) in your fifa15 demo folder and put these lines in:

HALF_LENGTH = 10
AI_SETTING_HALFLENGTH = 10

Note that players will be super fatigued with 10 min.

Edit: it seems that 6 works better because of the fatigue, so:
HALF_LENGTH = 6
AI_SETTING_HALFLENGTH = 6

Here is the file. Put it in the "fifa15 demo" folder:

Thx Dude :WORSHIP::WORSHIP:

It's super minor, but how class is this?

Clearance flies out of bounds - the assistant referee actually ducks out of the way while raising his flag (!), a ball boy chucks my player the ball to get on with it, but the original ball bounces back onto the field, so one of my players has to jog over and kick it out.

That level of detail is astonishing.

Interesting. Never seen that kind of realism before. Good!

I've warmed to this a little after some games today. Slow speed + legacy defending is the way to go for me.

Diego Costa is a beast. Proper strong and skillful target man. :WORSHIP:

Still plenty of historic FIFA funkiness that annoys me but this can probably be a decent offline kickabout with some improved slider settings.

Nice.

Gameplay wise the demo disapoints me.

It still has the Old Fifa DNA on it.

It's not tatical. I don't see the Team defending collectively, I feel that the midfield just don't care and let the defence line do the work for them.

Every CPU player recieves the ball facing the goal, even strikers. There isn't a good Read from the AI and anticipation.

5127_crop_galeria.jpg

I'm yet to see any circunstances like the picture above in Fifa, and the lack of it tells a lot about how poor the AI Play defensivly. I don't see the an AI teammate anticipating to a cpu pass.

Sad

Okay, after a good few matches, I like it a lot overall, but there are some worrying things, all of this is based on playing the CPU only, no changes to sliders:
- CPU players love to dribble. Martin Skrtl seems to enjoy the odd 50 yard run. Which wouldn't be a problem but for...
...- defending the CPU dribble is harder. Might take time, and fair enough we're all new to 15, but the CPU can dance around my defence largely because...
...- I've played 10 matches and my teammates haven't tackled anyone. Not once. I can sheperd an attacker into the menacing wall of my centre backs and they'll just stand there until I take over. It's stupid, and might break the game imo.

That's my beef so far. Am really worried by your teammates inability to stop attackers, it's not defending as a team really. It's perpetually one on one, and that'll clearly get abused by the CPU when it feels like it wants to score.
