FIFA 13

WHAT THE FUCK HAVE THEY DONE???!

Im distressed. This game is shite. Its just an end to end fest of uber fast attacking. i cant believe it, actually cant believe it. This has to be not the final retail version, it has to be.

Wheres all the wonderful diversity of the demo? There was so many wonderful things. This is just a speeded up fifa 12, an even worse version.

Gutted.

Seems it's marmite...

I'm loving it, gameplay wise few complaints, other than lack of stamina simulation, seems every player can last to 65+ minutes before their stamina bar is yellow.

Placebo, i have not had ONE team shoot from distance yet. Not one. Each time they try and walk it in. And its far too fast.

What a shit weekend.

Yeah, as far as shooting, it's all still there. Also, give a try to playing Kick Off with the same teams from the demo (MC vs Arsenal, for example) and see how it feels. I just did and it all is still there. "Pace" of the game also seems related to the camera, the close it is the faster the game seems.

yeh i play dynamic and it seems like when u play dyamic u just keep doing l1+pass all the time as u cant see much of pitch.

When i play other cameras out wide i pass the ball, do long passes, knock it about and its a different game. Only reason I stick with dynamic is i find it easier to shoot and do skill moves when zoomed closer in. And also I get better results online always when i use dynamic.

Also you are right about teams....Man city vs Aresnal will be much different than even a game such as Everton vs Aston Villa...the 5 star players really are hugley different when controlled by either cpu or human.

Playing with Aguero and Villa is much different than Bent and Ireland

Just played a game online Reading vs M'borough. 7 players yellow carded 3 red cards and the opponents player got sent off for diving in with his studs up. Straight red for dangerous play. Nice.

So I finally managed to get around to playing the FIFA 13 demo (PC).

Let me just say, I skipped FIFA 12 completely because it was a horrible game in my view, it was just too arcadish (at least out of the box) in many key areas. I should also state: I've been playing the PES 2013 demo constantly for the last couple of months and really enjoying it, so I felt like coming into this that it would take something very special to impress me. And DAMN has it impressed me. From my 5-6 matches so far I'd say this is the most complete football game ever made. There is so much more individuality than I remember, I would dare to say that the difference between Pirlo passing the ball and an average player is even more pronounced than in PES, and in general the technical players just have so many more contextual passing animations and ways to find a man that another player could not, which when you've come from the other game takes you completely by surprise.

All of the usual complaints about FIFA are still lurking in the background (lack of inertia and so on), but they are sufficiently concealed to allow the quality and variation in animation to shine through, and the new features like skilled dribbling (remarkably similar to Deft Touch in PES) and first touch augment the game with an element of scrappiness and randomness that simply wasn't there before. The sliders are of course a new phenomenon for me and although by default the CPU plays a horribly flawless game of football, the sliders seem to make all the difference and I've found myself having some very close and exciting matches on World Class difficulty. The prospect of career mode combined with a semi-playable CPU AI is staggering. PES needs sliders next year, simple as that - do I want to go back to PES now with the CPU constantly trying through balls past my hapless center backs? I'm not so sure.

The crowning moment was in my last match Cassano gets injured and is seen writhing around in agony on the pitch, then thirty seconds later Geoff Shreeves pipes up saying how the back is the area of concern. I suppose that could get annoying after a while but in terms of overall polish my word, just the fact they have the tech to know what part of the body a player has injured and link that to commentary, you are now entering dream land.

As I said to my friend, the sad thing is if you merged all the good things about PES with this FIFA game, you would have the holy grail, the best football game ever made, and that is why I said earlier that this FIFA game may be the most complete game ever but not the best, because even after a few games I am missing little things from PES that would make FIFA that much better (user triggered runs etc.) For now I'm just happy there might be a real choice of football game this year, but also really concerned that EA will do their usual routine, and (as the reports have suggested) tone everything down at the last minute to appease the casuals.

Hm....Wonder why some people think it's the same/slower than demo, and some people see it faster/much faster...Somehow, seems like PS3 people, in general, conclude that the game is slower/not faster, and 360 seems to be faster for the majority. Weird.

I´m on PS3 and the game is too fast, specially in normal speed.

Just noticed that after editing a squad (boots, etc.) and carrying it into Career Mode with European competition in the first season, squads get reset to default. This happen to anyone else?

No. After you click "Setup Euro Competitions" the squads selector will change to default. Before you click Next, you need to go and change the squads to "Customized" or w/e it's called. I had this mistake already. Also, youll lose all squads, so have to go and download the latest squads, if you did this.

Thanks for the heads-up...just edited both competitions and completely overlooked that. Oh well, just a couple younger squad members created that probably wouldn't get much time anyhow :CONFUSE:

My biggest problem with playing fifa 13 has actually been borderlands 2.

But I have been playing the same games under different scenarios and come up with some different and cool conclusions.
Been testing weaker sides against stronger teams on legendary making sure they don't play and feel too powerful .

Played Barcelona vs Wimbledon on slow 5 min legendary won 4 nil slow start but as they got tired and pushed to reply to the losing score line more space would open up and midfielders were given balls played off to them to run onto and shoot etc.

Then played the same game on normal speed never felt in control, much too Pacey only managed 1 goal after still dominating the game.

Not a hardcore fifa player by far don't use manual still use legacy defending and never use trick moves ever

I'll back up that the fast pace is down to the camera. I play on Dynamic and couldn't believe how fast and end-to-end it was. I later played on a different camera and it seemed fine.

Interesting post, and I tend to agree with much of what you said, particularly about a blend of the best of FIFA and PES being what we really want, and the need for PES to have sliders or some way to prevent the cpu from being 100% perfect too much of the time.

The prospect of career mode combined with a semi-playable CPU AI is staggering.

I felt that way going into career mode in FIFA 12, but I suspect you'll find that, after a few matches in career mode, it's not quite as mouthwatering a prospect as it is now. Whilst playing in League 2, you may at first delight in playing against a bunch of error prone, cumbersome teams, with semi-realistic scrappy play, but I suspect you'll soon start to feel like you're just playing against the same team over and over for 46 matches. Unfortunately, every cpu team tends to play exactly the same, with custom tactics having no tangible effect whatsoever.

If EA revisited custom tactics to make them an actual tactical engine, then added some inertia to the player physics, and finally made the player stats more meaningful so sliders weren't required to make a guy with passing accuracy of 55 actually misplace a pass, then there would be the prospect of a staggering game.

But I suspect that the arcade philosophy behind this game mean that will probably not happen for years to come.

I personally think it's fantastic.

The thing i'm most impressed with is the sheer amount of varied goals. From deflections, to how a shot is hit, and bending in the appropriate way, I really love it.

I find the AI defending is much better than FIFA 12, and harder to create chances too. Also the AI attacking is much more intelligent dragging my defenders about and runners getting in behind.

Can't wait to get home and play it.
