FIFA 12 Discussion Thread

I just hope FIFA has some sense and allows a proper half length for the demo. The game plays so much better (less in your face A.I.) with a longer half length, that the 3min half in the FIFA 11 demo was just ridiculous. If you let the A.I. keep its shape (both your team and the CPU), with some patience, you can see the more intelligent players get into better scoring opportunities. Short matches on FIFA are suicidal lol

Don't know if already posted...
there will be a new team selection screen (kinda PES-ish)

too lazy to translate everything right now^^

It's a good effort but when you play bolton (for instance), the hideous player model that pops up is liable to push this title above a PG.

There is nothing mentioned about kitmixing,
it is mainly about additions to the manager mode's playertransfersystem.
some of it has been already mentioned earlier...

- players unsatisfied when not playing,
- players aware of negotiations (new striker coming? - moral might drop of current strikers on your team...
- more pressure through the media and the executives
e.g. a player was injured, you let him play at season start, gets injured again -> they will make you the scapegoat
(different scenarios...)

gameplaywise

over the top impact engine has been sorted out
and there are no more unnecessary collisions going on in the background...
also referees have been improved though card decisions need to be tuned a bit

There is still one new feature to be introduced on gamescom.

If only they'd try and match PES in something like... oh, I don't know... the A.I.?

That's one thing they couldn't copy from PES over the years... and probably never will, specially while they have rutter heading the project and keep making millions out of the game without having to worry about AI.

I honestly think I'll enjoy manager mode much more this year with all the new moral implications. Just like real life there should be HUMAN consequences to hoarding the top talents in the world.

You might want to wait and judge until you've played it for a good couple of seasons. I've lost count of the amount of times I've been disappointed by the EA have implemented what they have promised to players.

that's what i was going to say, what they say and what actually happens sometimes are somewhat different.

Hah! True this. With the licenses, commentary and animations, FIFA would have an incredible game if they got close to the PES AI. Not sure why they haven't tried and look for cheap gimmicks instead. They could have almost killed off a lot of PES players if they made changes to AI and player momentum.

Maybe they like the competition :P

Or they just know shit about football?

Come on - let's give them some credit. You CAN play some decent football 1 v 1 if both players treat it properly. FIFA is not a total &*(^ up. But EA sports continue to sell the sizzle with all these fancy names and additions which are just re-badging things that are already there. Making marginal improvements and sometimes going backwards. Their focus is wrong. They have the tech available...but not the direction and clarity of purpose. Or maybe they do but they're just money hungry pricks :BOP:

Unfortunately, it's not going to change. Go to any PES 2012 trailer or 'sizzle' video as you put it on YouTube. The like/dislike ratio goes a looooong way in the gaming industry; that's exactly how the type of kids playing these top titles negotiate these days;

I lyk d4t, n0t d4t.

It's sad that these people are the target market.

If I'm being honest FIFA is exactly the game you would expect from people who are talented developers, have huge budget but know little about the game itself. The best example of this is the severely lacking tactic menu, AI behavior and GK reactions.Football is much much more than fielding 11 players, based on overall rating, and them kicking the ball for 90 minutes.GK don't all have Casillas reflexes, and tackling isn't just constant pressure and kicking the ball out of opposition's feet.FIFA won't catch the attention of people who are really into football and want the tactical side featured heavily, as it should be.

FIFA is a like Avatar or Transformers - box office monster who has little to no depth but it's shiny and flashy.Which is rather sad because if they had employed the right people they could have done a Dark Knight or an Inception.

Just dont see where the value is in that deal...

Maybe if i played the other EA titles there is bit more value, but apart from playing Fifa 12 a few days early (which i'm sure at the time will be very tempting) there is no value anywhere else...

£16 or wait 3 days...

More stadiums, more leagues... just something of worth...
