FIFA 12 Discussion Thread

I don't think it affects marking much and I like my marking set at 60. With runs at 75, it's so realistic and mobile at the same time. Pretty much have my sliders fixed at that.

Sorry, but there is no real fix out. I ve changed to 360:SMUG:

Exhibition matches generally feel more organic and realistic with lots of random struggles for position in midfield and through balls that don't stick with an opposing defender like a magnet. Ball feels more like a separate entity. In any of the tournament modes I have the feeling that gameplay is somewhat more restricted and one-dimensional. Could be in my head, though..

I'm playing quite a lot as Arsenal but mostly in exhibition games. My attacks still feel like the only options are to play it up to Van Persie with his back to goal or go wide to Walcott and use his pace. Which is fine, just not every time. I even play the same passes to get the ball to them, as the midfield seem too static and behind the play. Because the attackers are so isolated I end up playing the same passing moves and working space in the same way each time because they're the only methods that work when you're outnumbered. For example playing it up to your strikers with their backs to goal, then turning the defender for a clean run on goal is too easy but often the only way.

My sliders are not very different from default other than slight tweaks where necessary. Am on overseas trips till 3rd week December so will post when I'm back.

Absolutely no problems at all with CPU taking shots from all over.
 
Having trouble, since i've downloaded the update, everytime i go to play match on clubs, the whole game freezes
 
Does anyone have any advice for getting midfielders to break forwards and into the box? None of mine ever do, leaving just my strikers to have to turn and dribble into the area and do it all themselves. Why won't midfielders get forwards? It's why the game feels so static.

I've tried changing custom tactics, and setting individual player settings like arrows, changing attacking mentality to high, changing positions to attacking variants (like CM to ACM etc) and still they hang back. In fact I can't find any custom tactic that makes a noticeable difference. And I've even tried ramping up player run sliders to help, but nothing.

Any ideas? I'm bored of building the play in the same ways, then having to try and do everything with just my two strikers once the play gets within 40 yards of the opposition's goal. In my CM I only have two or three players who ever score, just my strikers and wingers scoring over and over.

Any ideas?
 
I'm actually looking for the same thing. I have a lone striker and most of the time thats how it is. He's either forced out wide with no options or I have to try and take on the whole defence.

Try turning the run frequency up in the slider settings and/or putting defence low attacking high for the midfielder you want to make the runs..I do that with gerrard and he's always around the area

I play standard 4-4-2 and my centtral midfilers average 5-15 goals per season.

Wingers also chip in with a few.

most goals from central midfielders are long rangers or runs into box...i have run freq high though.

Most goals from wingers are either from edge of corner of box or running in from wing and curl into corner.

It's been going great. At the moment, I play Professional, semi-auto for controller options that allow it, otherwise, it is set to manual.

I don't remember how much I got for transfer funds, but it was barely anything.

My first season with Alemania Aachen was pretty mediocre, all I had were losses and draws. I was trying to force the team to place my desired formations. After mid-season, I changed up my strategy, went to a 3-5-2 formation, looked at my team stats and put players together that were performing and averaging decent player rankings. I ended the season 7th, eliminated from the cup 1st round.

Second season, lost some key players mainly because they were loaned to me and too expensive to purchase. I invested in a decent striker, mid-fielder and even invested in my youth club to see if I could pick anyone up. I ended up getting a loan for a good DM and purchased another DM. I stuck with my current players, tweaked my positions and mentality, and finished just barely in 3rd place for my league. It came down to my last game, if I didn't win, I would have been in 4th due to goal differential. knocked out of the quarter finals for the cup.

The matches to get promoted was nail biting. I tied the first game 2-2 as the away team. The second leg was another tie 1-1 at home, so fortunately, I got promoted due to my two away goals!

Simply Awesome.

During this off-season, I invested in young quality CBs, a strong DM that could transition into attacks and I was forced to invested in a great LB since my current one had been injured with a broken tibia for 6 months! Initially I was going to get a very good striker, but I decided to invest in the clubs future by getting a younger LB.

I changed my formation to a 4-5-1, with the L and R backs getting into the attack, and my L and R mid-fielders playing a hybrid LW and RW position when on the offensive. It's been working out great. I don't score many goals, but I don't concede many either. I have been looking at the match-ups, man marking the CPU CF/ST if needed, and mid-way through the season, I am currently 3rd. The top 6 spots are only 6-7 points apart. Knocked out of the cup 2nd round though!:BLEH:
 
What's the longest amount of years y'all have played so far in career mode? Are any of you utilizing your youth system to find some hidden talents... I can't imagine the game with a lot of retired players. I would be scared to see how the clubs end up looking!

so you are in bundesliga 1 now agasint bareyn adn dortumnd etcc?

Sounds fun. And you think formations make much difference?

Im in season 3 on fifa 11 I played about 4 or 5 seasons but got bored.

I have not bothered with the youth in this one. BUt in my other career mode with lazio i hired a top scout for 5 million and I brought in 3 brazilian youngsters like 15-16 years old they ahd great potential like 80+. Could be fun to see them progress I think. However I have only done 4 months in that career mode.

I've tried those but still to no avail. May be related to which players you have but I don't see why Wilshere wouldn't get forward if instructed. I'll take another look at the attack/defence levels per player again and see if I've done it properly.
 
To PC players, I turned V-Sync on. I get 60 fps, but then it goes down to 40 near the goals. Any fix?

W.O Vsync I get 65 FPS, but my monitor is only 60hz and get a lot of tearing. So any help to stop tearing would be super useful.

Most definitely!

I screwed around with setting various formations for specific circumstances: being down, ahead, if certain key players were injured I had to change my strategy for who was available to play, etc. I know it sounds like I am over-thinking it maybe, but it made a difference for me.

A quick example is when I am behind by 1 towards the end of a game in a 3-4-3 with adjustments to positioning. It allowed me to create a lot of chances but left me thin in the backfield when the CPU went on a counter.

I also noticed a difference in who makes runs in support depending on the formation. I am definitely seeing a difference in quality of play depending on formations though and how the CPU plays me.

I found couple talented youth with the same potential from Brazil, Netherlands, and Germany as well. I was just thinking though, do I REALLY want to wait that many years to see if they will improve that much? Yikes! When they reach their mid twenties, it will have been almost 8-10 seasons played!

Thanks for tbe tips Hitmanuk, adjusting the player attack to high and defence to low for all midfielders and full backs has seen alot more attacking options. Some midfielders are weighing in with some goals now. Makes things much more interesting :)

I know what u mean!

Only way I will play so many seasons is if I sim most games and only play the big matches. Which I Was thinking of doing
 
So I've been taking penalties on this game since it came out but tonight suddenly every time I took one, this circular aiming thing appears on screen allowing you to guide the direction of the ball. The harder you kick it, the harder it is to accurately move the circle. Never seen that before now it's there. What's up with that?!

Anybody have any tips on penalties?

They are ridiculous, If I just get it off centre on the bar, and barely press to one side it flies off! it's really ridiculous, I must be missing something?.....apart from the net ;))
 
Practice penalties in the Arena and it will show you a visual target. When you've done that a few times, you'll get a feel for how your stick movement relates to the movement of the target and you'll be able to judge it better in a match (when the target is invisible).

Don't go wild with the shot power, either.
