FIFA 12 Discussion Thread

I severely doubt they wouldn't want to fix it. I'm sure there'd be legal ramifications. More like they 'cant' fix it for some reason. If that's a real employee then who knows, they might be pissed off personally and sending out disgruntled mis-information. Who knows about such things.

That's what I figured, but the tone of the rest of his revelations didn't sound very angry.

I also think that he maybe doesn't know the game too well because what he's describing doesn't seem possible at all. Perhaps he mean't something about slightly influencing the way your opponents team plays, but either way, it sort of stuck out to me. I hadn't been thinking about FIFA much at all in the past month since getting rid of it but then I see that.

No real reason to make it up and he didn't talk much about sports games for most of his rant. Still sounds impossible to do.

EDIT: Actually, there are YouTube videos of the glitch online. But it looks like they're playing against the CPU.

"They don't care." :LOL: Do me a favour.

The guy's bitter and sensationalist, I'd take it with a pinch of salt. You could probably find similar things about most companies from disgruntled ex-employees, and it's never healthy to hear just one side of the story. The only thing to take from it is that you should avoid ending up in a similar job if you can help it, whether that's EA or elsewhere.

Wretched? They make games, they're not committing war crimes.

LOL, people have called EA worse things that "wretched" in this very thread. They do all the time (maybe you haven't). And "they don't care..." I'm trying to remember what footy specific forums I've heard that line uttered in...

Maybe ease up on the hyperbole as well. The glitch is real and I even stated I was a tad skeptical (as I would be with any "dirty secrets" post). Just tossing the FIFA-specific quote out there because I hadn't heard of it before and apparently it's a real thing.

I'm not doubting whether that particular glitch exists, I've seen the youtube videos. I'm just a little tired of people slagging off game developers from their keyboards as if to make it sound like they're deliberately trying to screw you over all the time.

Saying "they don't care" paints a picture of them laughing and sitting back in their chairs. That's the hyperbole. More likely that they had 1,001 other things to do and this wasn't at the top of their priority list. From what I can gather, EA tried to fix that in 11 and the exploiters found a new work-around that they hadn't accounted for.

I don't play online, but surely you can just quit and find someone else to play who isn't going out of their way to cheat you?

Im quiet new in FIFA playing 3/4 weeks, but I want to share some fillings from this game.
Firstly when I was playing first games I thought this game is a mistake - I was losing every game (with CPU, professional level). I loved all details in the game but my losing made me mad. Step by step i learned some tricks, passing details, general knowledge of the game (how should I play). I have still some problems with scoring however everytime I pay this game I feel like in real football, you have to be concentrated all the time. Making it possible to shoot is also very hard, and when you score you feel very happy and lets say ,,awarded''.
My last 4 games (I play with barca):
Granada-Barca 2-2 (I was leading 0-2 until 1/2time);
Newcastle-Barca 0-1 (I had at least 5 100% chances for goal);
Barca-Porto 0-1 (also many chances for me);
Arsenal-Barca 0-0 (I was dominating).
As you can see (after at least 30-40 games played) I still have problems with socring (I have manby chances, even 100% with GK).

I sont change ant settings in this game, I think people who do this make this game easier or harder but why? (default settings make this game realistic).
I still dont know many things but the most important is that:
- i cant leave this game;
- i lose many times which is also a plus for me (I learn and discover new things);
- i dont know how to use many 5-star players like messi (I just pass not shoot with them).
Final note: this game is realy outstanding and this is the biggest football simulation for now.
I still dont know why CPU want to get close to my goal every time (not shoot from distance). Is it only on professional level?

This is same for me and many others. Thats why i edited my sliders to make it easier to get chances...Its not as rewardign when you score as its goals are as not as hard to come by but on the other hand the game is less frustrating, its all about balance.

To make it easier to score, increasing shot power to 51/52 helps with long rangers.

Reducing CPU marking=more space

Increasing run frequency=more players support attacks and make runs in final 3rd to create more options for goals.

I got to frsustrated with default pro level on fifa 12. Now I enjoy it more but its defo more fun and easy going than simualtion and frustration. However its still challenging and rewarding a lot!!

UT crap? I thought Ultimate Team was the best mode in Fifa 11, have they ruined it?

What I hate about UT is the single player competitions are crap especially if you suck on higher difficulties.

Also, I hate how you have to keep buying contract cards for your players all the time and they expire within a few games usually.

It gets annoying.

Nah it's kinda the same with a few additions/menu but i just didn't half enjoy it as much as two years ago as that was the best imo. where you had to buy it and didn't get all the idiots of the day

Love even the exhibition mode. Matches with friends keep me/us on the edge of our seats. We have a general consensus it's overtaken pes5/6 for us. But personally, I only play exhibition matches, career mode and some online 2v2 matches with friends. That's about it.

Has anybody ever seen your own player do a blatent dive in the box? I had one yesterday, Gerrard was running into the box with a defender next to him, their arms keeping each other at bay. At that point I pressed L1 (for me it's the stop with the ball action, but not he one that turns your player to the goal) to try and turn the defender and instead Gerrard just did a blatant belly flop! Besides the arms beig connected there was any contact so it looked "odd" in regard to the normal physics in the game.

Didn't win a penalty and play went on so it might have just been the combination of the players positions and the button press, however I have never seen it before anywhere else on the pitch ( and I use it often to wrong foot players) and it looked like a perfect dive.

How to defend and get the ball in this game. Have it now for XBox, could someone give me some tips for the game, I find it so difficult to get the ball. Have played PES all the years in this is my first FIFA ever.....

Don't try to win the ball and don't try to contain, jockey for position and block the passing lanes for the player with the ball, eventually you'll get it back and as you start to get more familiar in playing this way you can then start tackling for the ball. If you lunge in or leave obvious avenues for passing/running into you'll get destroyed.

Thanks, but is really difficult for me (beginner). Could you please post your sliders and other settings you use?

So I'm really liking it, but have two oddities/ worries:

I've conceded a penalty (or two!) in pretty much every match. I'm generally really good at defence too - have only conceded via penalty in the last 3 matches, so not sure what is so different in the box. Basically, square becomes a serious liability, but without any player can dance all around my defence. Anyone worked out how to solve this?

Secondly, I've hit the post upwards of 10 times in the last 2 matches alone. And in 3/4s of those situations, I HAD to score, but managed to slam it into the post instead. Starting to get tha tfeeling from FIFA 10 where in certain situations you simply could not score.

I had a long run where I was conceding penalties at least once or twice a match. Eventually I started just using jockey and trying to block/cut out passes instead of always going for the tackle. And square I just try to be way more careful with.
I had a lot of penalties given away for basically running into a player as they were shooting, clipping a foot or anything while they are in the process of shooting would cause the impact engine to make them fall over/dive instantly, always resulting in a penalty.

Also had games where I just couldn't score, no matter what. I took 20+ shots in a match and could not score, the majority on target, either the keeper would pull some superhuman acrobatics off or I would smack the post, over and over and over. Just had to take my loss and go home.

Had the penatly issues also. I learned though you can rarely challenge in box as said above gotta just jockey and cut off runs and try to position yourself to block off shots etc....

If a player is running at pace and you stick out a leg, they'll go over, just like real life ;) Best option is to block the ball by running into it with your defender's foot rather than actually pressing a tackle button and trying to win the ball, as you get more confident/comfortable you'll start to feel you can tackle to win the ball :)

I was playing and noticed that Raul Meireles has a shaved hairstyle in ultimate team whilst in normal mode, he has his current style hair. Has anyone else seen another player which is the same?

Thanks, I'm a million times better now. It's a little funky, because tackling like that in the open pitch doesn't tend to result in a foul, but hey, I dig the logic.

Getting really into this now. Some of the touches/ one time things I've seen happen are reminiscent of PES of old, and I've scored all kinds of goals (very few crosses though).

Question: does anyone get how the 'development' of young players is determined? I get that as the season goes on you can see a little +x next to certain stats, but I can't work out why some players do improve and some don't. I have an 18 year old that barely develops at all, and a 25 year old that is still getting better. Really weird and I can't find a curve or anything to predict it.

Probably your crossing is still set on manual. If you're not used to that you should try semi ;).

As for youth. Form plays a role in it. If your 25 year old is getting high grades he may get improved. Are you playing your 18 year old regurarly, what's his form and morale? Could also be he has nearly reached his potential, thus grows more slowly. Is this a scouted player or a 'real' one?
