Could be (although you do sound desperate!) ;). I liked the new camera, however I found it quite hard to determine the depth of my player when not in possesion as the camera pans across the pitch aswell as along it. Now I'm on Tele and I think that's a veyr static camera (don't think it moves, or atleast it's not as dynamic).

thats what i was trying to say in my closed thread.

basically playing football and making moves is not rewarded. What is rewarded is using exploit sin gameplay to score easy goals eg.. counter attack. Whereas passing to make space, knock the ball about, preform some skills, play nice football etc..etc..most of the time doesnt actually do much good and is a waste of time. Best bet is wait til opposition attacks, get ball up to forwards ASAP, then 1v1 with gk, score. Or just get ball and keep pressing 1-2 all the way up the pitch.

I feel in like PEs1-5 anyway when you scored a goal 8/10 times you had to work for it.

In FIFA it seems to me 9/10 goals are due to same reasons over and oer and not actually worked for or rewarded for by skillful play.

This is my major gripe with the game.

As for PES 2012 I dont know if that is any good so I am sticking to fifa 12 atm as I like the game modes but will no doubt get fed up soon as games are to repetitive.

It's a nonsense argument, in Fifa you can do the same cheap move and score the same cheap goal over and over, in PES you can do the same cheap move and score the same cheap goal over and over, it's up to the player to choose not to do that stuff, that's why I don't play online because in online matches 99% of opponents choose the cheap way to score.

I play offline only and most of the time I score through playing proper football, yes I could be cheap but I'd only be cheating myself.

I've abandoned my CM campaign because there's no point, on World Class I'm letting in an average of nearly 5 goals a game. It's pathetic. The contain button does absolutely nothing to contain the AI, they just have time on the ball and play the ball around the guy doing the containing. They always seem to have more options than I can cut off in terms of passing lanes, and what the fuck is all this about jockey then tackle? It doesn't work for me. All players do is literally walk through the middle of my defence, in jockey mode my player moves too fast, the attacker moves too fast, and all he needs to do is slightly change direction when dribbling and it completely takes your player out.

Literally the AI keeps just walking through the defence, this is the worst I've ever been at any videogame, ever.
 
Try a match where instead of at any time pressing a tackle button you make your goal to be to walk your defender into the ball at the feet of the AI player to win it that way.

Alternatively adjust AI acceleration to 47 and your acceleration to 53, see if that helps any.
 
That's kind of what I've been trying, I'm not actually getting a chance to even use the tackle button. I'll direct my player to the attacker but whatever direction I move in, the AI seems to magically make the attacker move to the left or right of me, and completely take me out of the game. As I said in the CM thread, Swansea just stuck 5 past me and 4 of them were Graham just slow dribbling round 3 of my defenders and putting it away. Also, does anyone else's keeper ever seem to save a shot?

I only have this problem really playing on Broadcast camera which is bizarre, but i love playing it at that angle so don't want to change.
 
If you're being beaten too easily, have you tried just standing off more? Don't let him suck you in and walk round you, if it's happening repeatedly. First of all make it your midfielders' priority to deny those passes into Danny Graham to begin with (that's just as important as anything else you can do), and then if he does get the ball, stand up, stay goal-side and shepherd him away from danger rather than going for the tackle all the time. If he can beat you with one twist then maybe you're too close to him, and are over-pursuing?

You could also experiment playing a high defensive line to see if that works better for you, by compressing play and keeping those dangerous strikers further away from your penalty area (if you can cope with mopping up the through balls into that space).

I'd say that the majority of the goals I concede can be traced back to one of two things. I either a) gave the ball away stupidly in my own half and they exploited it before I could re-group, or b) over-committed needlessly towards the dribbler and allowed my first defender to be beaten, meaning I was scrambling desperately to recover from then on... and my collapsed defence became easy meat.

I have been messing with sliders and there is a stupid big difference in the way teams play when you alter their speed and acceleration.

The difference between 49 and 50 on speed/accel is phenomenal. I was winning most my games comfortable on 49 speed/accel...turned it to 50...haven't won yet... in 5 more games :LOL:

The reason I kept Tiote away from the defender is whenever I step in front of them they just cut out and then side foot it into the far post... so I tried keeping him on the goal line and they still did it.

I did try what you say, but give the AI any kind of room in and around the box and their long range shooting can be lethal.

I took on board something Placebo said a little earlier, about basically walking your player into the tackle, and realised that I've been doing that a lot when sprinting. That's a sure fire way to get skinned, so after posting earlier, I've been either sprinting to close in on a player or containing, then only hold LT (L2) to jockey at walking pace. Will sound obvious to you guys but I've been too eager to close them down. You're correct there, nerf.

I've instead tried keeping pace with players by only using the L stick and using L stick with the LT jockey button, none of the sprint jockey stuff when up close. I tried this in my last three matches tonight, and beat Croatia as England 2-1, then in CM got two 0-0 draws! Problem sorted? Probably not, but it's a start. Thanks for everyone's help with this!

Oh, and yeah, the odd thing is that if you close players down with only the L stick or L + LT, the slower pace seems to make the AI give the ball away a bit more, and players also 'auto' tackle when up close. In all three games I don't think I've used the tackle button once. Only the 'push/pull' feature when catching people up.

Actually that works really well, used it on a player when through on goal and he fell over. Thought I'd given away a penalty but the contact was minimal and he went on his arse thanks to the snowy pitch ;)

Just had a weird experience.

My HDMI cable stopped working so i reverted back to the old AV cable.

For some reason this really changed the way the game played :THINK: so it seems.

Because of the blurred graphics it looked like classic PES on PS2 and it played faster than normal. Thought i'd gone back in a time warp :CONFUSE:

What i found strange is that i've been playing CM, about 20 games and haven't had one direct free kick or a penalty with the HDMI cable. But with the AV cable i got 4 direct free kicks and a penalty in one game it was fantastic :P

And because it was raining, when i had a corner the screen was more blurry than usual. Couldn't see a dicky bird.
 
Well I figure out how to defend better and suddenly I can't score. No goals in six matches now. Plus I'm starting to lose most games 0-1 thanks to the AI bullying my defenders unrealistically on one single occasion, one single shot, and goal.

The game feels more hurried and like FIFA11 after that patch at the weekend. EA claim it's nothing gameplay related, I'm not so sure. Two matches against West Brom and Norwich saw them sprint round the park for 90 minutes just blazing through the back of my players even when using tactical dribble, something that before the weekend worked brilliantly for slowing the game up. Now it barely seems to work.

The game feels more frantic and counter attack like since that patch. Maybe it's my imagination but it's definitely feeling a lot more like FIFA11 at the moment. Clearances seem to magically fall for the AI every time, I never see them misplace a pass anymore despite pass error being on 70, it's bizarre. Last week the AI felt very organic, and mistake prone but also more adventurous, now it seems to constantly feel robotic again. It rampages around, constantly barging through the back of you, sits deep in defence and scores a breakaway goal with one shot on goal in the whole match. Every single time.

I agree which is what spoils online. I like to play nice football and on single player I can without fear off losing game to an opponent that just plays to score easy goals.

However I dont think cheap easy goals were to be had on PES especially online with a game like PES5. Every goal is either earned from hard work or gifted by defensive mistake.

PES 2012? no idea?
 
Psn servers are shite tonight, i've so much lag if feels like i'm playing some chump on dail-up. It's ruined some good games.

I had that on like the first three replays I saved, for some reason the first time I save a replay it ALWAYS takes it from the end of wherever I wanted to save to. Like on a goal it would just save the celebration, or the aftermath (ball rolling in/out of net and kickoff).
So I've been saving everything twice now just in case :(

And clubs has degenerated into finesse shots again. I still have fun playing it because finesse shots aren't AS powerful as they were, but it is annoying to see midgets cutting back to try and finesse a shot in. No one seems to be able to play a position either, everyone wants to play striker (I'm talking on a Pro Club, not random games) no matter their position. I've joined and left four clubs because they ask me to play striker or midfield, I agree and then I constantly have three people in front of me "making that run man!" all game. No one ever passes to the sides or back, always forward, always through balls or a chipped through ball, no one is patient. And I keep scoring goals by playing patiently, not sprinting around like a mad man.
For my last club I scored 6 goals in three games, mostly by being positioned outside the box on corners, or timing a run down the wing, our fifth game (We won or drew all five before that) our manager/captain asks me to play on the left so he can play up top because "I'm not getting any goals man, I know if I score, we win bro". I don't even care if I don't shoot as long as I'm not shooting because I'm busy setting up someone making an actual run or trying to open things up.

Sort of a rant haha, but damn I need to find a fun club.


Also defending against players is pretty nice in my opinion. I don't use the tactical defending much, just keep myself in position and mark threats. Three games trying it I ended up with 9+ ratings, got the catch them offside three times achievement also. It's pretty fun actually.

On Saturday I was prompted to download I think a 5mb update. I think it's for something not gameplay related but the game feels different since then. It may be just me imagining it....

Haha Downing injured himself taking a shot. No-one around him, takes a shot outside the area and then pulls up and starts waving. Pulled quad.
 
Quick q - what's the FIFA equivalent of these forums? I.e., where would I go to learn about the various gameplay fixes and patches and what not? First time I've tried it on PC, might as well take advantage of it!

Also, for those that have played a fair bit - do yuo think it will be possible to have 'good' AI/ CPU variety via the online community? Thanks!

Well perhaps if you bought the correct version you wouldn't need to worry about it, you illegally downloaded the UK version and you're complaining because of the measurement system used in the UK version, bit of a cheek.
 
I use to be a big fan for online leagues, but with so many new opt online cups, season,pro and UT. Its making online leagues becoming the old school postal office. I find offline zzzzzzz

You really just need to be patient and learn the controls of the game. I too was having a hard time defending but have come up to speed now where it's not very hard at all.

Also, I couldn't score for the life of me until I started using the "flick" stick tricks thing to get around players. Now with my back to goal inside the box, I can do a quick little turn inside or outside and get off a shot. Now, it doesn't always work so when it does be ready. Most of my games are decided by 1-2 goals either way and I've only ever scored 5 once in a single game.

Patience is the name of this game - if you have nothing, dink it around and use the close dribble option.
 
how many you guys use jockey or contain.

even on the tactical defening I play like legacy

I use r1 to get teammate to help, square to stand tackle, 0 to slide tackle.

Really its the same as legacy defending expect r1 is square and sqaure is x, you can change buttosn if you want....just never use contain and its the same as legacy.

Jockey, i use now and then.
