I've got replays saved to hd (ps3) and when I go to the replay theatre to watch them, it says "you must be the lead profile to view replays, please set a lead profile in MY FIFA -> PROFILES"

Something like that. But I only have one profile and going into the profiles section it shows the one profile and says it it the lead one. There is also no option to do anything in that screen (I.e. set a lead profile etc).

Really frustrating :(

I replied but it probably got lost in the shuffle.
I thought that maybe the error was linked to the easportsworld site as they have a list of profiles and maybe making your psn your main profile would help.
If I recall correctly didn't you buy your last FIFA in 360, so I assumed that could be the problem.

I'll check my own game and go into that sane profile part and see if mine is any different.

Yep, as i said 'a bit' unrealistic. Its ok but just prefer the old way of defending and it doesn't seem as easy compared to old Fifa's. I dont constantly press the button, and there's nothing wrong with a shoulder barge is there?:P

What i find unrealistic is the CPU never seems to foul.

Al is worse in the tactical sense. Sidebacks can totally ignore their position deffensively, specially in counters, even if they were not attacking. Man markingjust DOESNT DO A THING. Midfileders can stop trailing and opponent and just watch the play from 20 yards, making runs of the opponent lethal. At the other hand, it makes counters too powerful because they're standing alone in the center of the pitch.

You cross and you either score or it's a conter. No way to prevent that stupid black hole in the midfield.

Long pass and high thtrough balls are again easier to do than ground passes, somI faced pele that would constantly use them. Besides, Deffensive AI has terrible problems with it and sometimes they will stop or let the striker alone by no reason on 30 yards passes. It's due to the forward run being railed and controlled by the AI while your player gets selected for you while the ball is travelling high.As you don't have time to react, it means always danger to the defending team.

Honestly, the knock on as it is is a game breaker. Stats should impact greatly this feature, as speeds are unbalanced. Llorente was running the whole pitch with the ball, being quicker than my whole team. It's a joke, honestly. Everybody taking Napoli because the forwards will receive alone, as always, then turn and run.

The game it's amazing on animations, technology and all, but everything it's either overdone or depending on very poor AI, so it ends up being the most frantic ever Fifa this gen, with a tactical side that is practically missing.

+1. I honestly couldn't agree more with every word. I'm not trying to be negative either and like you, I too think there's a lot of good stuff in the game. It's just everything you listed is prevalent too often and it stops any kind of real enjoyment. Indeed most of it is the basis of the game. I don't really see anybody else mentioning it but the game is incredibly 'frantic'. There is no way to slow things down.

At the end of the day the way the game is balanced is unrealistic but understandable. As you rightly mentioned defending is still the same old dispossess the attacker by running into him from whatever angle. There's very little error in any tackle you attempt to make just like the old system. It seems to be this way again because attacking and dribbling with the ball is still so easy/perfect. It looks ridiculous how many touches of the ball you can take and how perfect each touch will be on the ball. I guess this is most evident when turning 360 degrees in a circle with the ball. If defending had more error then we'd end up with ridiculous scorelines given the state of attacking.

The knock on is ridiculous though. Who at EA thought it'd be a good decision to put in a feature were you can run faster with the ball than without it? You always get a boost when accelerating which seems to have no relation to the user-defined acceleration slider setting. Obviously as you say it should be more stat affected. Lesser dribblers should knock the ball further away and struggle to catch up with it if they aren't fast, but they don't and it just looks odd.

I don't find the issue with players running into you to take the ball at all. I'm playing on World Class and still find that I can hold possession of the ball for a fair while using the precision dribble button. The AI waits a while before closing in.

That said I need help with defending, I just can't use the new system. I tried a help video on youtube but it doesn't work. He said you just contain constantly outside the box, quickly switching players. It doesn't work though. All that happens is they work the ball around every player who's containing with off the ball runs. Same as if you try closing them down with a second man. Eventually the AI easily works it in and around the penalty box, and there, you can contain but not get close enough to the ball, and the AI shoots easily. If you then abandon the contain method and jockey waiting for a stand tackle, the AI manages to dribble around me because they still turn unrealistically fast against the momentum of where that player is moving. So the attacker can go one way, and in the blink of an eye be accelerating in the completely opposite direction and skins your defender easily for a goal.

Tempted to go back to Legacy defending but I want to learn how to do this!

I only use jockey, running jockey and team mate press V occasionally.
 
Is there any way to re-edit an uploaded goal to show a better angle? I didn't save the goal in the game, but it has been uploaded to the EA server correctly - just with a poor angle.

Any ideas?
 
What a farce. I scored the single greatest volley in all my time on FIFA.

Ball came in from a corner, got knocked back out to the edge of the area (bottom corner) and Bale ran on to it dropping and smashed it past the keeper who didn't even have time to react.

This shitty view really does not do this goal justice. I must have watched it 20 times and yet still didn't save. What a deuce.

Couple of annoying bugs from past Fifa's that made it into 12 still unfixed :(

1. Sometimes you can have a player booked but you're not shown him being booked either in cutscene or at the top under the scoreboard and the only way you know he's booked is the next time you control him.

2. Sometimes when you're defending a free kick/corner one of your centre backs will be up the pitch in the place of a forward, happens quite regularly this one :(
 
I expected this to happen but not this soon. Was hoping the flaws wouldn't have cropped up so early. At least EA are working on patches, I'm just not confident that they'll actually fix them all, if any really.
 
Depends if they class the flaws as game breaking.
If I recall correctly... wasn't there a loan player bug where the team who had your loan player could sell them. Or cup finals being played at the home teams stadium - they never fixed those as they claimed it wasn't something that was worth fixing. They only patched/fix broken aspects.
 
Loaned out players being sold was something they fixed in 10, out of the 174 or however many bugs they were that was one of the two (other thing they fixed was the "cheat" to get lots of money which was a real gamebreaker...)

Yeah I use LT for jostling and often win my fair share of headed contests in the middle of the pitch. Also works well for defending in the box. Of course, it's not flawless but it does help, especially if you've never used it ;)

I was mucking about in online friendlies and notice you can use custom teams (i.e. edited) as opposed to strict online squads. Does anyone know if you could use custom teams for online private leagues?

Me and a couple of mates normally setup an offline lounge mode but that's gone this year! And we create super teams to play against each other. Just wondering how we could do it online and keep track of our game records.

Online friendlies also appears to only be a head to head record. I'm guessing an online league (which maxes out at 4 games against each team) is the only way to go.
 
I quite like the EA Challenges. Completed the LA Galaxy comeback one yesterday. 2-0 down against NY Red Bulls with 6 minutes to go. You enter the game as Beckham standing over a freekick. Score that and you're in a great position to snatch a draw (which was the minimum requirement). Took me a few attempts. Their goalkeeper was unbelievable and you can't alter any of the settings.

Enjoy doing those.

Haha. I scored with my first try with Beckham but couldn't pull the game back so lost the challenge. It then took me another 10 attempts or so to just score from that freekick. It's quite handy though, because if you miss you simply go to restart game and it puts you right back over the ball :COOL:

Hopefully there's a different challenge tonight. As Placebo says, it's nice playing with other teams and you can really see the differences in quality.
 
I must confess that's the first challenge I gave up on, scored the freekick quite a few times but struggled to get the equaliser, one time I equalised then scored an OG to let them win 3-2!

If it's still active later I'll try again :)

The Arsenal v Spurs one was fun, I won 6-1! Shame you don't get extra XP for doing really well, the older challenges used to do that.

Yup, not to mention conceding a penalty, and not being shown the foul or handball. I have to physically pause and go watch for myself.

One more that does wind me up, is the severe inconsistency of replays, A decent goal would only be shown once, whereas a scrappy tap in would repeat about five times
 
I scored a peach of a free kick on that Beckham challenge... right in the top corner.
Uploaded it, everything seemed fine. I've just come to look at it on the forums and all I have is 12 seconds of the wall standing there and then it ends.
 
I'm actually blaming my crapness at this game on the camera angle I use now! Tried the default camera and I comfortably held Chelsea 0-0 at half time, even should have been in front, then switched to my old favourite, TV Broadcast cam, and instantly got hammered 4-0 in the second half. I think the angles on that camera make defending by running into players when jockeying and using the tackle button is far harder, my problem with defending is that I try to jockey players and get close enough for a tackle but the AI's speed of movement completetely throws me away from the attacker with one simple move. Yet set to a different camera angle, I no longer have that problem. Really odd.

That's the PC version? Which version did you buy? Or did you "download" it?

Baaah! I want the Imperial system, selling my EU English/Arabic version cos I miss my Imperial + 2nd English commentary options :)
