I've seen that once.

I've also noticed that when players score a goal, when it cuts to the kind of movie camera right at the end, the goalscorer sometimes disappears. Happens quite a lot.

Also had a really bizarre glitch where I went into a game and all my slider settings had seemingly been reset. I checked them, and they were still as I'd last saved them, but the game was playing really fast. Just like the demo in fact. I switched off my xbox, went back in and it all seemed back to normal again. Weird.

Would using game lobbies or ingame leagues work? Online friendlies are unranked so people can use what they want.

Do you mean friendly as in unranked game? I believe not. Maybe not ideal but if you go into the new EA Arena lobby the games are locked to ranked. I believe TD is locked to ranked games so just need to meet whoever you want to play in there. You just need to press X on xbox to create your own game then your opponent selects your game and hey presto..... should work

Ideal or not, it's better than nothing, thanks a million!

I'm on PS3 btw but I'm sure the same applies.
 
Maybe I'm a rubbish player but I honestly find it hard to score against the keepers whether it's from long or close range.It's a shame that the game is really not responsive because there is a element of beauty and realism unique to it.
The new precision dribbling is tough at first but I'm getting it slowly and slowly and I'm realizing it's a great tool.

edit: I didn't play FIFA 11 so maybe the keepers were like that before.it's a gamebreaker for me, they're too good even if you use the slider to make them have zero ability

You know how to shoot but maybe you need to learn how to score. I don't mean that in a bad way but there are certain things you can do to help.

If you're going 1 v 1 with the keeper I've always found it good to NOT sprint and instead of moving in a straight line to goal, take a step to the left or right to open the angle up a bit just before you're about to shoot.

For longer shots, if you're sprinting as you're about to shoot take your finger off the buttons so he's slowed down for at least a couple of steps and just press the shoot button for as much power as you think and also make sure you push direction and hold it until the ball has left the player's boot.

Don't try and shoot first time or with your back to goals etc...they won't have a high success rate.

Try it in the arena and you should be scoring a lot more.
 
In the arena the shooting is marvelous, fantastic physics of the ball but in the game it feels so different.Maybe it's angle issue
 
I think it probably is, I'm yet to hit anything in the arena I haven't seem similar to in a match, just less time and space so you perceive it differently, with the different camera as well of course.
 
I think it's never been easier, you can finally (in H2H anyway) puzzle the opposition defence so much that you have time and space outside the D to pick your spot and smash it in.

Im quite good though ;))
 
Why are attackers with the ball always faster than players without the ball? I don't get it. In fact sometimes it feels like my players are faster with the ball than they are without it. Both me and the cpu dribble around defenders for fun in the box. The right stick is so effective too, use that and any player attempting to catch you up, even if he starts ahead of you, is left for dust. Is it something to do with my settings? I have 40/40 for both speed and acceleration. I like the speed, i don't want to change it, but there's something odd about the way my game is playing.
 
I am having bother downloading from creation centre.

I have created a team and saved it but when I go in thru fifa in the 360 there is nothing to download.

Watching the old "A-to-tackle" kids trying to defend is indeed precious in H2H :BOP:
 
Headers

Enjoy the challenge of TD, but one thing that is killing me is winning headers anywhere on the pitch, mainly midfield but at corners as well, No matter what player I am, no matter what buttons I press, I just can't do it. I can defend for my life but then concede 2 headers from corners. In my last match I won 5-1, but out of 17 midfield heading battles I won not 1. I'm even thinking my controller is faulty. I blatantly must be doing something wrong, or haven't found out the secret.

This is ruining my FIFA experience,

Please can anyone give me any tips or the secret so I can win just one header!!!

I'd be so greatful and would really appreciate it!

Super-cancel seems to do it for me - I win my fair share of headers using it.

LT + RT on Xbox.

Also, jumping early enough sometimes seem to be important.

As well as winning the headers in midfield, do you use this for winning headers from corners, be it defending and attacking?

Lastly, there is the little yellow x, this is where the ball will land, so would you want to position a bit in front of this?

More importantly, you want to be in front of the opponent. Use LT(L2) or super-cancel to muscle your way in front of him and put your head between the trajectory of the ball and his head. And don't leave the button press too late.
 
Oh FFS, this game has been brilliant to play now I think I've found an absolute guaranteed 'hot spot' where a goal goes in every time. A finesse shot from outside the box, curled from a slight angle. It glides past the keeper and into the net almost every time. Tried it in my last match to test it out if anything, scored all three attempts and won the cup tie 3-0. Crap. Probably about 80% of my goals have been from largely the same shot.

I could choose not to do it I suppose but that totally ruins the game IMO. Anyone else find this? It's a massive shame because my CM has so far been brilliant, now there's this almost guaranteed goal every time.
 
The defending is still inherently unrealistic. All defenders need to do is stand their ground to tackle and as long as you're within 3 yards of the attacker then it's an instant tackle 99% of the time (both for me and the CPU). There's no concept of dribbling at the defence and them having to back away at all because they are fallible. In real football a player will pick up the ball, dribble forward and the defender will back away from him looking for the perfect moment to make a challenge or block any potential cross/pass/shot rather than running into the attacker and probably getting skinned if he doesn't make a perfect tackle. In Fifa you get the ball and the defender runs into you or stands his ground every time. I do it to the CPU and the CPU does it to me. There's just no trepidation when defending because you're so confident that you'll be able to make a perfect challenge as long as you're within 3 yards of the attacker.

Also this game is so frantic. It's constant running for 90 minutes (i'm playing on slow but that it's the way the game works, not the speed). You never feel comfortable enough to get the ball and slow the play down looking for a pass. The computer won't ever do that either, it's like they're holding the sprint button for the whole game. In fact in order to keep possession they don't slow down, they just run in the opposite direction and then run back. I actually try to slow the game down by getting the ball and stopping but the computer runs into you the moment you do it if you're slightly over the half way line. Again relating to the fact that that's how the defending works. They just don't seem scared of making any mistakes and want to always run into you to tackle rather than back off looking for the right moment to do so.

I think there's a lot of good stuff in this game but this is ruining it for me and really noticable from a couple of games in.

Would disagree. I'm finding tackling the Legendary CPU quite the challenge and there's definitely trepidation whenever they're near my penalty area.

Disagree. I find I play better when I do exactly that.

I suggest that you're not shielding the ball well enough, if that's the case. The RT Shield is pretty powerful, and I've always said that the key to keeping the ball is to not show it to the defender. To me, the CPU defenders clearly only go in for a tackle if they have an angle on the ball. Don't give them that angle, then they won't.

After saving you need to Bookmark the team in Creation Centre – only then will it show up on your console ready to be downloaded.
 
Wow I figured out left stick dribbling in this game finally. What a difference. Now I can walk through defence in H2H with skilled dribblers like there is no tomorrow. Only people who actually know how to play can stop me now :-) Yay for left stick :-) Gives me tons of time on the ball too. Allows playing actual football game. Per-fect!
 
Had an odd moment last night. A spurs player slid and knocked over his own team mate and the game somehow awarded the free kick to them!
 
Well, I actually committed a foul and the commentator talked about it and the AI team stopped but I took the ball and scored! :D
 
My AI controlled manager has gone crazy. In the first bunch of games of season 3 he's put a striker on the left wing, tiote in CB with Danny Simpson next to him. He's using what I assume to be youth team players instead of the best players like macheda or, Lennon.
 
It's probably a well know fact already but I've noticed that if you do a fake shot anywhere on the pitch but then push the L stick backwards or in the opposite direction to where you're travelling, the fake shot move turns into the famous Cruyff turn. Nice!
