Fifa 12 Career Mode Discussions

Many players have been released on a free only to sign later on when a better offer didn't come in, I bet Fabio Aurelio was re-signed on a lower wage by Roy...

If I secured promotion to the Championship weeks ago, I'm sure the board wouldn't wait until June to give me a budget to sort out my squad contracts in real life. It's pretty ridiculous.

How much attention do people pay to form/morale? Do you always leave out those who are low on form or morale? Do you notice a slump in perfomance if morale/form is low?

I guess it's a chicken and egg thing with bad performance v form, certainly when I'm on a bad run I notice that form is low throughout the whole team, if it is just one or two players and I have bench players of an equal level I will consider switching out but not always, I don't bother too much about morale though to be honest, I often have a couple of players in the squad with bad morale due to not playing and it doesn't seem to affect them too much, but if anyone in my starting 11 has low morale I try to make a mental note so that I can praise them in the press to try to raise it.

I beat Spurs 2-1 in the Carling Cup final last night, was a great end to end game. Not sure if the pitch made a difference, but my passing was a lot more fluid than it was when they battered me 5-1 a week before at the Lane.
It was a bit of consolation after being knocked out of the Europa League by PSV, & the FA Cup to Norwich in the same month.

Looking forward to spending my winnings, but not sure £100,000 will do much! I wonder how much a team would get in real life?

To add slightly to Dags' point about contracts - the thing that bugs me at times is the loan-to-buy system. I've brought in a couple of players, but because the budget for the following season isn't decided until you start the new season, the players return to their loan clubs so you probably have to pay more if their value goes up, so often end up looking elsewhere. That and when a summer loan bid is turned down you can't make a cash offer until the following season. Apart from that I like it! :)

Yeah it's got a couple faults but loving CM mode! Great foundation to have an almost perfect CM mode in FIFA13! The base is certainly there now.

Half way through my 1st season with Dynamo Dresden in the 2nd division, a club with a passionate fan base from East Germany and currently sitting top of the table looking good for mixing it with the big boys in Bundesliga next year!! Punching way above my weight on a shoe-string budget as the club is playing in 2. Bundesliga as a newly promoted team and I was supposed to finish mid table at best.

Only half way through season of course and a lot can change but I'm staying confident and optimistic.

Does anyone else sometimes find bizarre changes in the CPUs ability? I got slapped 1-4 at home to Spurs, they were rock solid, quick in attack and devastating in front of goal. Roughly two weeks later I played them again in the league away from home, went 0-2 down inside ten minutes and I thought another whooping was in order, but after that they collapsed. I had all the play, Spurs stopped pressing all over the park and I ended up 3-2 in front and strolled to victory.

Really weird. With all three goals it felt like the CPU opened up gaps in its own defence and backed off to the point where I felt the game was willing me to score.

It could be realistic, After humping you previously and now 2-0 up, they could have taken their foot off the gas and thought it was all over. It has happened to many teams....most noteably Arsenal

I am still finding this tough in the npower championship.

Seem to lose late goals and just cant finish teams off. 5 games in with Blackpool and I have had 3 draws and 2 defeats.

On the plus side Heskey scored!

Yeah true. I guess it doesn't happen very often. It once happened against Chelsea when I spanked them 3-0, but since then they've handed my my own arse on a platter.....

Maybe CM does occasionally simulate the opposing teams having a dreadful off-day.

When people sign new players, or especially when they sign a number of new players do they throw them all straight into the first team or try to get them some time from the bench first to bed them in? No idea if it's just coincidence or there is something programmed in hidden away similar to some kind of teamwork thing but I seem to find that new players need 4-6 matches before I feel like I'm getting the best out of them?

playing on pro?

well i jumped ship.

i had spent 5 yeasr at arsenal. Had one one Carling cup, one Champions Cup (due completely to team form hitting on all cylinders April to May - form is huge!!), and finally won the EPL. after EPL, the offers were huge.. Cithe, Zenit, Milan, PSG... and Los Blancos! i cannot remember being offered Madrid, ever in FIFA so i took it. team is OLD and some head scratchers as far as signings go. but transfer kitty of £79MM.

i know most people on these boards love the build up the small club (not that arsenal isnt a massive club), but i just couldnt help it. throw stones...

oh, first day on the job Ronaldo refuses contract increase (£300,000 a week!!)... welcome to the show.

how mcuh harder is this compared to Pro

I play pro with cpu pass error like 60? i think and shot error either 50-51?

Way harder! Not even comparable!

In fact if you wanna see just how much difference adjusting the sliders ALONE makes, try this. Move the pass error of CPU back to 50 from 60 which is what you normally play I'm assuming and see what a HUGE difference it makes! Now it seems like 2nd division shitty teams are playing like Barca and you just can't get he ball off them.

I play on World Class like I said and since I'd found myself a bit comfortable recently and not even challenged by the best teams in my division away from home, I thought it might be time to change sliders so moved from 55 to 50 both shot and pass error and my god, I just got outplayed the next 2 matches like CRAZY! Suddenly my team that has gone over half a season unbeaten was getting beat 4-1 by the team at bottom of table! Clearly even 5% makes a HUGE difference! Gonna move it up but not to the 55 as I did need a challenge, probably set both at 53 which should both set a challenge for me now and threaten my position at top of table much more and perhaps bring me my first loss but at the same time, not be so hard and frustrating where I'd lose almost all my remaining matches and get completely outplayed by teams I've been beating easily by now.
Gotta find the sweet spot that's both challenging but rewarding and not frustrating and for me right about now with my level of skill that seems to be World Class with Pass/Shot error at 53.

That's the sliders alone, the move up to World Class makes all kinds of differences of course and provides a much stiffer challenge than Professional as does the move up from WC to Legendary which I tried once and am nowhere near ready for! Lol

Kouyaté is also a very good CB IRL...don't know if he is that in the game too...

Just had a very sweet win with Milwall: 0-4 against West Ham United.

Well there we have it. Professional is verging on too easy now, you can easily sprint down the wing unhindered. I move it up to World Class and get knocked out of the FA Cup at home to Watford, who despite being a Championship club were playing like Barcelona, back heeling the effin' ball all over the park. Every loose ball on WC drops to the CPU, they suddenly become muscle men who smash my players off the ball despite being half the size, oh and the ref penalised me every time I made any bodily contact at all, inclusing awarding two penalties because my defender glanced against the Watford attacker while he's doing his usual 200 mph dance over the ball breaking the laws of physics and making it impossible to tell which direction he's going in - which is almost 100% of the time the exact opposite direction you manually move your defender. Funny that. What a crock of shit.

Pro isn't quite right but plays an otherwise awesome game but is too easy, World Class is back to FIFA11 on steroids.

Surely just play WC then edit sliders in your favour until you get balanced game?

Or play Pro and make sliders in favour of CPU to make more balanced.

ATM on pro I find im 50/50. When Im in the mood I can beat any team usually. When im not fully in mood to play i can get poor results.

However, overall on pro I get realistic games...Roma in champions league I get beat or tough game...Wolves at home I win 3-0 etc..

Then again had some odd ones.

I drew 0-0 home to Aresnal FA CUP match ended with only 1 shot each in the whole game lol...Was just no chances.

REplay at emirates i 2-0 up at HT and win 2-0.

Replay was night and origianl game was day. Im sure I not only prefer night games but seem to play better in them also?

I'll have to, I've already started slowing down acceleration because even at 47, CPU players twist and turn on the ball like there's no gravity and leave me standing. But there's no way I know of that can stop everyCPU clearance punted down the field from landing perfectly onto the foot of an attacker, even with lower division stats and pass error turned up!

I move it up to World Class and get knocked out of the FA Cup at home to Watford
Before writing it off, I would recommend playing a couple of league matches on WC.

I have my suspicions about some Cup matches. I get the impression it's possible to come up against an opponent who are perhaps flying high on maximum form and morale. I've experienced a couple of cup ties against lower division opponents that have been tougher than some Premier League opponents.

So I would suggest giving it a couple of 'normal' fixtures to see if it continues or not. Also, as suggested above, you might also be able to take the edge off with some careful slider adjustments if necessary.

You might just have some something there. I experimented with keeping acceleration on 47 but dropping sprint speed to 46 to keep the level of defensive pressuring while taking a tiny edge off speed and it seems to have worked on that front, whereas I persevered and played another three league fixtures and dominated every one, winning two and drawing one. Weird. It currently feels easier than Pro all of a sudden, maybe because the CPU leaves a bit more space at the back as its more adventurous going forward!

That cup match was something else though. I'm pretty sure what you suggest about cup ties is right, the game in the cup was crazy then suddenly it's back to normal again...

Hopefully I can get back to enjoying my CM again and still have a bit more of a challenge without the CPU tricks from previous FIFA games :)

thats true sometimes against poor teams its hard because they akwasy have 10 men behind ball..

Wehn I play say Man utd I will get more chanced to counter etc..And counters are a great way to score in fifa
