Fifa 12 Career Mode Discussions

What's their stamina like? Players can get low morale if you carry on playing them when they're knackered and as such burn themselves out. Flamini actively requested not to play for a game or two because he felt he needed a rest. Maybe that could be a reason? Try checking their stamina before a game. Just a thought.

I'm loving the injury sliders set to 95 frequency and kept to 50 for severity. Simpson was running for a loose ball and randomly pulled up with a thigh injury, then poor Best had to go off after jumping with a defender and ended up having his head clobbered by a high trailing leg :P

I've had the same situation about players requesting a rest more than once, my best CB did it a couple of "weeks" ago, I rested him, and he thanked me after that, saying he was ready to return for the next game.

About the injury sliders set so high, how do you manage to have a competitive side after having those injuries and so often?

EDIT: Ogude's injury has complicated things in terms of resting players and obviously he was/is an important player for me, but I found an excellent playmaker with my CM, I moved him to the CAM position and his vision really shows his hability to find players making runs, and he's been amazing in pretty much all the matches he's played there. I don't know what I'm going to do when Ogude returns, I might have to change things to take advantage of both players.

I bought Jean and managed to sell Zuculini, so far Jean hasn't impressed me and the other CDM I have wasn't performing like I wanted either, I dunno.

Aston Villa plays without a CDM and they're a pain in the ass to play against, so I might try something like that.

My starting GK is simply amazing, and I managed to give the substitute some matches too, and he thanked me, both are happy, so that's good.

EDIT 2: OH MY GOD, Bent just scored against me when Amoo (their player) was injured, and the camera stayed with him, as if the referee was going to stop the play, the goal counted, and I lost the match. It sucks that you can't make comments about the referees like the CPU does, 'cause that goal shouldn't have counted.

Hahaha talk about DRAMA! :D

------------

I'm loving this 2nd season and you know what, with injury frequency set to 99 (Perfect level for me and no less) and being in 3 competitions plus fatigue (playing every 3 days sometimes) and form/morale, I'm having to severely rotate squad EVERY match which is just awesome because I have tactical reasons to change up the team against different oppositions of course as well. It makes you think about every game individually and who you want in there and even such things like resting such and such player for next game, etc.

Already I'm less than 10 games into the season, and ALREADY I've used all of my 25 members of the squad! They've all seen some game time with Fran Merida and Raul Garcia starting their first games just now in 2nd match of Europa league vs. Servette. All 25 men have already been used as I've had to use them at some point.

==========

Injury Frequency = 99 (Try it, it's great but don't bump up to 100! Suddenly there's a HUGE difference with players taking a knock for EVERY pass/shot lol)

Injury Severity = 85

- European competition

= Serious Squad management ---> Game - Perfect!!

=================

Might sell Falcao and Reyes very soon! Two of my superstars, rated 85 and 86, both getting massive wages too, really good attributes but just never seem to perform for me or very inconsistently! Unlike Hulk or my new CB superstar Hummels, I just can't rely on those 2 and they've even found themselves benched often in recent times. Falcao says a player of his calibre should be getting more game time and yet any time I play him, he fails to convert chances and doesn't impress. I went to 'motivate' him because of his poor form before a match in press conference and it sent out a beautiful media message saying the Manager warns star player his performances must improve and that some of the bigger players aren't pulling their weights etc

This game is awesome! Challenging, fun and exciting!

Just wondered, how much of an irritant are the excessive CPU transfers in career mode, are they bearable, since I can't see Fifa being able to patch it, so may have to suck it up. Do the same players MOVE every single window, or do they move once and settle? Thanks anyone who can help!

They move and settle is what I've noticed.

Also there wasn't as much trasnfer activity in Summer of 2nd season as opposed to first for me. Same with January, there was less activity.

I'd say the OPENING summer is the worst! I'd like to see much less transfer frequency especially big names ones but it's something I've gotten over and isn't that bad in my opinion. And it does seem to get a bit better over time.

That's not too bad then:CONFUSE:I was under the impression that it went almost something like Nasri-Arsenal-Ac Milan-Inter? I think I could live with it, but I had been putting it off in the hope that they'd patch, which I don't think they will. The fact that no players seem off-limit is slightly annoying though and the fact that apparently most teams end up with a complete makeover by January.

I've done the transferring players in and out from their club, so the first window is sorted but apart from that, I guess I'll just have to live with it. Hopefully it's not as bad as people say on fifaforum!

I've seen some transfers which were like Wilshire: Arsenal-Man City-Arsenal in the 4th season so he basically had 2 years at City then went back to Arsenal, which I suppose could happen, goes there for the big money move, not enough game time, returns where he was loved most....

Yeah that could well happen in real life anyway but yeah from what I've seen, players aren't getting transferred every year. Even though some do in real life anyway... it depends on the player I guess.

Going by my CM it seems to be dependent on the team, and not the players - I'll try and explain.
Man City seem to buy several high profile players each window, therefore most of the 'real life' squad have moved on.
Man Utd & Juventus have also made wholesale changes to their squads, whereas Inter sold Sneijder & Cambiasso, but never replaced them. Same with Chelsea & Arsenal not replacing/ buying new players.
United have sold the likes of Vidic, Hernandez, Nani, Valencia, Berbatov, and signed Krasic, Hernanes, & Kyle Walker (can't remember the rest).

I lost my first game of the season in the CL Quarter Final - knocked out by Juventus, who battered me in both legs. The Juve line-up contained the likes of Kameni (guessing Buffon was sold or retired), Seb Larsson, Nani, Hernandez, Rafinha & a few others.

I'm consoling myself with the fact that I'm unbeaten in the league after 31 games, 6 points ahead of Barca. The commentary team have mentioned that there could be a new breed of 'Invincibles' ala Arsenal a few years ago. Injuries are starting to stack up, and with a few suspensions thrown in, it's going to be interesting!

As for transfers:
I decided to shift several high wage players who weren't getting much game time, and promote more of the youngsters who'd been loaned out in previous seasons (including 1 defender from the youth squad).
Albiol & Higuain have gone, and used that money to bring in several teenage prospects - (2 strikers, a RB & a LB), and added a winger (Djalma from Porto, £9m) to let Valencia, Di Maria & Muniain take a break.
Once the window closed, Di Maria broke a rib and is out for a while, Thiago Silva just broke his collarbone & is out for 3 months, so the sulky Sakho has a chance to redeem himself (couldn't sell him as he was injured during the transfer window).
Llorente broke his elbow, & my prospect striker Piazon blew his ACL, so bringing in the youngsters has paid off :)

Well for me there has been some big players moving around quite a bit. Aguero-> Bayern Munich -> AC Milan. Özil did go to Arsenal in august and then back to Real Madrid in january wich is bullshit. Ibrahimovic has played for Real Madrid, Dortmund and Roma. David Silva went to Atletico Madrid and then to Barcelona. So there are some players not settling.

Thanks guys! Looks like the general consensus is that the transfers don't make the mode entirely unrealitic, so I'll do my best!

I got my ass kicked out of the Champions League by Barca, 5-2, having won the first leg 4-1 surprisingly. Pedro was amazing, I couldn't stop Iniesta, and my team was a bit off.

Shouldn't you have gone through on the away goals rule? it was 6-6 on aggregate but you scored 2 away goals?

Haha good call. yeah what happened?!

No, you see, I won 4-1 at Camp Nou, it was oddly easy, and then THEY won 5-2 in Elland Road, giving me absolutely no chance.

So I scored 4 away goals, and they scored 5.

Started CM and seems like the transfers aren't that bad if you're Manchester United or City since the wholesale doesn't obviously happen.

All kinds of transfers. Some more realistic than others.

The writing might just be you. I definitely don't have any problems reading it. Though I do find it odd and a bit tedious that Portuguese/Spanish managers (ALL managers really) speak like an Englishman in media reports saying things like "The other lad has gotten stuck in and the ref hasn't seen it." etc. They keep using words like 'lad' and talk like Harry Redknapp which is a little unrealistic when it's someone like Gregorio Manzano talking like that in La Liga!

I just lost a match 4-3 at home against Manchester City, with a hat-trick from Tchuimeni-Nimely  and another goal from Tevez.

To top it off Lescott cleared a ball out of their line in the 90th minute, I would have drawn that match.

Both Ogude (scored 2 goals in this match, the other one was an own goal by Boyata after a low cross) and Zaha are back from their injuries, and the first one is awesome, I had to send my CM (that was playing SO well as CAM) back to his original position so that Ogude could have his space for his runs.

As you can see, besides the fact that I'm in the top of the league (I moved to World Class very early in this season, I'm not finding it much more difficult tbh), there's a lot of drama in my Career Mode, it's nice. :SMUG:

PLF, please post your slider settings here! Or do you play with default ones?

Can't believe my bad luck. My top scorer Dzeko has just been out for four months. He made his comeback and after 2 minutes on the pitch he goes down with a broken ankle! My next game is Chelsea away in the CL last sixteen and I was looking forward to having him in the team at Stamford Bridge. Won the first leg 2-1 so it will be a hard game.

Seem like players who have been injured easily get injured again. Jose Enrique is out for the rest of the season and was injured for three months before.

I'm in march now. The january transfer window passed with me selling the grumpy duo Ben Arfa and Demichelis. Rondon also decided to leave. Brought in N'Doye from Copenhagen as an extra striker, Varane from Madrid to cover at CB and loaned Kelvin from Porto.

I play on world class with mostly the default settings apart from a few exceptions.

CPU Customization

Pass Error 65
Shot Error 60
Run Frequency (60) --> This applies for USER settings as well.
Full-back getting forward ---> (60) ---> This applies for my settings (user) as well.

Injury Frequency 99 (BIG difference between this and 100, try it! It's optimal!)
Injury Severity 85

The injury frequencies are also set for both I and the CPU.

And most recently after having seen the AI GK receive Man Of the Match award for like 4 matches in a row with outstanding save after save from mediocre keepers like Osasuna's, Genk's and Michael Rensing to name a few while they score one cheap goal from one shot all match, I've decreased the AI GK ability to 45 and so far it seems a lot more realistic. No longer are they the only reason the AI can get a point off me and here and there they do make tiny mistakes like not fully covering near post (just like not ALL goalkeepers ALWAYS do this perfectly anyway).

I still haven't seen them fumble a cross but even the very best keepers in the world make mistakes like that from time to time so I'd like to see a little more variety in terms of 'mistakes' (not huge ones but minor ones) both from my and their goalkeepers.

So far, the 45 GK ability for AI is serving well though. Twice more, the AI goalie since then has been MoM but I have no problem with that, sometimes that happens but it was annoying when EVERY match it seemed, that's the only way the Manager Mode AI is dealing with me dominating the game. Super goalies.

Loving CM mode! Am 4th in La Liga, and right now have a huge return leg coming up against Koln who manage to shock Vicente Calderon as they were ABSOLUTELY dominated the whole match with me hitting the woodwork 3 times, Rensing having the match of his life and making unbelievable saves and then Podolski lashing out a header from a clearance from a defender to have 1 shot on goal and a late winner in Madrid!

Now I must get revenge in Cologne or I might risk not getting out of the Europa league group altogether!

The messed up thing is what I already said, the board expects me to reach the FINAL of Europa League when it involves teams like Man Utd, Arsenal, Juventus and many other good ones!

I lost the first spot, that loss against City, and then a draw against Blackburn left me 2nd, one point behind Manchester United.

I won the next 2 matches after that, against Everton and against hmmm...I don't remember, but Manchester didn't lose any points, and there's only one match left, I need a miracle.

My 2nd RB was asking to be considered more, so I gave him play time, and he's happy now, and one of my wingers is asking a lot to play 'cause he thinks he's in good form, but I don't see anything brilliant coming from him, so I play him here and there to keep him happy, but I don't know, I could never figure out who worked better as RW.

GK only for CPU as I told you I found the AI is having its GK get MoM award against me and like a one man show every other match! Think it's far better now.

But Injury ratings are for both. Though I'm still not happy with amount of injuries because even though players take plenty of knocks (0-3 on average per match which is reasonable for me) from each team, they almost always run it off! So I'm gonna experiment bumping up Injury Severity to 89 to see if more of these 'knocks' turn into actual injuries.

At the moment I have Nigel De Jong out for 4 months and have had a couple other 2-week injuries but the thing is I'm mid way through season 2 now and still I can't remember a time where I've had 3 players or more injured at the same time which is what happens all the team in most squads in real life. It's no use having just ONE guy out which is what I've had 95% of the time.

So I've just bumped up Injury Severity up to 89 (right before 90 mark) to see if there's any improvement on this front. Will keep you guys posted.
