Fifa 12 Career Mode Discussions

They never approve man, and if she does, she should be your wife, not your girlfriend anymore.

Zaha's on fire with me (just in case anyone needs a fast ST and wants to try him out), and it's like he has a Trait that says "Links up perfectly with Ogude", it's really nice to see those 2 combine and open space for each other.

Haha true :)

Demichelis just asked to be put on the transfer list and Rondon is rumored to be unsettled, again!

Therein lies the problem with FIFA. I'm Wigan at the moment and (on pro level) every game is 0-0, 1-0 or 1-1. Bumped it up to WC and lost 6-0 to fulham. I might prefer WC as at least the cpu took proper shots, rather than running into the box and dribbling it around... Annoying. Got pes arriving today as I'm about to give up on it.

a way round this is to play on world class to increase the CPU intellignece but then edit sldiers to make the game easier

eg..make uder faster than CPU, increase CPU shot and pass error, reduce CPU marking etc...

I am going to try this. As Unless I am playing a 5 star team on PRo they play so dumb half the time. On wrold class the CPU plays better but its too hard so as I said mayeb some sliders can reduce difficulty?

So there was me sitting pretty 2nd place in the league with Arsenal 1st (we swap round a few times and it's very close), final of the league cup coming, 5th round of the FA Cup coming, 2nd round of the Europa League coming (home to Porto in the 1st leg), I'm thinking hmm maybe it's a bit too easy on Professional, going to have to see about world class again, play the home leg against Porto and they absolutely batter me, 3-0 down in 27 minutes, 5-0 down by 70, manage to finally score once from a corner to make it 5-1 going into the 2nd leg, so I'm almost certainly out, but if it was on world class I would have lost 20-0! I think until I raise the average of my first 11 (currently about 72) I just can't compete at world class yet.

Well I am absolutely shocked, I really thought I would be out, Porto were so good in the first leg, Hulk especially destroyed me, in the second leg I returned to my usual formation, played my starting 11 that's performed best and basically tried to concentrate for every second they had the ball to close down space without leaving myself vulnerable and try to score as early as possible and of course as many as possible:

Porto2nd_leg.jpg

The two early goals for Ibarbo just killed their confidence then it was a case of playing cautiously but then going for goals when possible, took it to extra time with 2 goals in a minute and then Wakaso scored the winner in the 99th minute, really happy for him as he was singled out in the press as basically the scapegoat for the first leg debacle! The two other goals in extra time were just the cherry on the icing on the top of the cake as Andy would say, just got those by going to all out defense, winning the ball back and hammering it forward for my pacey wingers to run onto to cutback for oncoming forwards.

Next up is Werder Bremen who were in my group, 2-2 away but a 3-2 defeat at home in the final group match (actually thought I wasn't going through!) so revenge is on the cards, hopefully ;)

One of the strangest yet funny things just happened to me in my Real Madrid season. I played Levante and I had 5 players on the pitch throughout the entire game, yet I picked my starting 11 beforehand!

Here's the stuff that's relevant to this thread:

What’s in the update?

Gameplay
• Sometimes the game would get confused when a user called a second player to take a quick throw-in, where the game would consider the ball to have re-entered play. We’ve made sure this won’t happen anymore.

• We have fixed an occasional problem where a user’s crossing setting would default to Manual and need to be reset.

• Very rarely indeed, a physics error could cause a player’s leg positioning to become misaligned. You may have seen some videos of that around the time we brought out the demo for FIFA 12. As rare as it was (the vast majority of people will have never experienced it), it’s now fully extinct.

Career Mode
• You can now select the weather conditions before entering a game.

• Your chief executive’s salary suggestions when offering a youth player a senior contract will now remain consistent when exiting and re-entering the negotiation screens.

• We have made sure that, after releasing a player from the Youth Squad, his salary returns to the Wage Budget.

• When loaning in a player with an option to buy him at the end of the season, if that player caused you to reach the maximum squad size, you wouldn’t be able to buy him. Now you can.

• It’s now no longer possible to sign a Youth Player with a wage greater than your available wage budget.

• We have addressed a couple of rare situations where specific actions would cause controller buttons to become unresponsive.

• When playing as a player in Career Mode, your manager will now be more inclined to sub off your player if he’s getting too tired.

• We’ve made sure that commentary won’t fail to show up when playing League Cup games involving Manchester United.

• We have fixed a situation where, given a certain set of circumstances when editing and saving player positions, you could see player names converted to numbers before experiencing a console hang.

• We fixed an issue where it was possible for the user’s player’s team to enter a new season without a goalkeeper, or without the minimum number of players needed to play a match.

• We have solved a problem that involved the player’s team recording a win despite forfeiting a league game because of an insufficient match-day squad.

• Recently signed Youth Squad players who you’re attempting to sell on will now enter negotiations with an accurate, consistent ‘Current Wage’ displayed, meaning you’ll see them picked up much more easily by CPU teams.

• If you and a friend entered a Career Mode game with two controllers, advanced beyond the Player Selection screen and then backed all the way out again, the game would hang. We got that fixed.

• We have taken care of a bug that caused apparently random crashes in Career Mode, with players sometimes appearing with a zeroed cash value.

• Physical attributes of players were growing a little unrealistically since they were tied to their overall growth potential. We have made a change that separates the growth of these attributes from others, resulting in much more steady progression.

• You can now offer a new contract to players you have loaned out for the last year of their contract, before they run off and become free agents.

• Loaned players weren’t always growing fast enough. We have tuned this to be more noticeable, making loaning players out much more rewarding.

• More mid-week Career Mode games will now be played with night-time lighting conditions.

Good to see so many career mode fixes, can't think of too many bugs/glitches/annoyances right now that aren't fixed, vanishing players is probably the main one I can think of which is a big problem. Colour me shocked and impressed with the fixes at least :)

Really really good. Hopefully they can add a final tweak to make teams shoot that bit more (it's still too little imo, but not gamebreaking). I play on pro so not sure if that is a reason.

just as a general consensus like, what level are you lads playing the game on?

i play legendary and it can be a bitch.

I started on Legendary, dropped to World Class for a bit, then went back up to Legendary again. I considered that the reasons for my poor results were really things that I was doing wrong, not the difficulty of the opponent.

Others may disagree, but I'm presently of the opinion that the only real difference between difficulty levels is reaction time. Speed of decision making, speed of response. There might be some level of aggression (or a better word might be 'assertiveness') in there too. I don't buy into the suggestions of stats boosts or even necessarily any/much variation in base intelligence. I think it's easy to perceive and assume more than is there. I think they just see and do things with less delay.

CPU teams don't shoot early enough on any difficulty level, they still try to play that extra pass and walk it in.

i notice the cpu not shooting and at times it gets embarrasin like. they get into a good position and your almost sayin to yourself shoot man shoot! despite it not being your team. or is this just me? lol

Wow congrats on your comeback against Porto in the 2nd leg Paul! Incredible stuff! Must admit, I never thought you could do it. :P

You must be real proud of your boys after that performance!!

SAY WHAT!?!?!

That's exciting and EXCELLENT news! :D

But the 'more inclined' part actually throws me off because as far as I know, previously before this patch at least (haven't tried new patch yet), your player NEVER got subbed! Even if he was carrying a small knock/injury and was ALL out of stamina/energy. He was the one player who the AI (your team's manager) never would sub out.

It means it's possible now!?! Can't wait to see it now!

Overall lots of good news there.

Very much so, extremely shocked but happy to be still in the cup, next round was Werder Bremen, won the first leg at home 1-0 with the goal in the 93rd minute so set up nicely for the 2nd leg which will be tough :)

It must be an absolute joy for you and to feel even more proud and a sense of accomplishment since it's the club you support in real life and probably have all your life that you're achieving all this with!

Indeed :) Still a long way to go, not sure if I ever won a European trophy before in Fifa, possibly not, next season is looking like I'll be in the Champions League and will have to go up to World Class.

Oh I won the league cup this season so far and am through to the Semis of the FA Cup as well :)

I think I've just won the league with United but I'm not sure...there's a headline saying I have but according to the table Chelsea still have a game to play and they're only 3 points behind me. I won't count it till it's definite. Playing the FA Cup Final right now, just took a break to tell you guys that David Silva just tried to chip De Gea from about 45 yards out! Never seen that before from the AI, excellent stuff. At first I thought it must have been a flubbed cross or a deflection, but it was definitely intentional.

Jean of Sao Paulo is a very good DM/CM/AM (can also fill in at full back). Him & Alonso are my first choice central midfielders for my Madrid CM.

Has the engine trait, has a good shot, and doesn't cost much really - think I paid about £7m for him.

Thanks for the tip, he's a tidy player. I've a few concerns about his size but he looks good and I love that engine trait. Perfect for playing a box to box role alongside Carrick and Marchisio.

Ben Arfa is impossible to please. He has been involved in every game so far and is often a starter now when Dszudszak is injured. But he is unhappy because he should play more. Will ship that sob come january.

"Boss, I feel my career is getting wasted here, by not getting games" - Franco Zuculini.

DUMBASS. He got like 6 games in a row or more as a starter 'cause he asked me to play more back then, and now I get this, he wants to be transfer listed.

As you wish.

Does anyone know one of those little gems out there (like Ogude or Saha Zaha lol, I didn't even noticed when I wrote this :P) that can play "like" Xabi Alonso?

Steven Defour? He's not a 'little' gem though and will probably cost quite a bit from Porto.

I personally would rather NOT know about these great lesser known players like Ogude or Zaha with great potential guys. So if you do include them in your posts, can you put them in a 'spoiler' tag please? I'm sure I'm not alone in this and I would've preferred to discover Ogude on my own rather than hear about him here many times first!

p.s. Perfectio, I was gonna say this before a few times but I forgot, Your English is great man! How old are you? And always been in Uruguay? I'm impressed! Keep up the good work.

Sorry, I'll put them in a spoiler thingy next time I discover someone. They are the heart and soul of my team, and it feels weird when I have to rest them, specially my CAM, none else does those runs and I have to change the way I play in that game.

I'll check Defour when I get back home, I don't remember how much money I have left to get players when the transfer market opens again, but I'm willing to pay a lot for a good CDM, my record signing is 13m, and if I have that much I'll spend it, the rest of my team is pretty well organized, I don't need anyone else in particular.

Oh and Rachubka (my 3rd goalkeeper, 34 years old) is Unsettled, I don't know if I should transfer list him too or what.

p.s. Perfectio, I was gonna say this before a few times but I forgot, Your English is great man! How old are you? And always been in Uruguay? I'm impressed! Keep up the good work.

Thanks about that, I'm 26 actually, and yes, I've always lived here. I practice a lot I guess.

I checked Defour and he's too expensive for me right now, specially his wage, 80k a week, not even Mr. "I AM A LEGEND" Smithies (my goalkeeper) gets anywhere near that much.

When I talked about gems I wasn't talking about players who'd grow to be like 85 Overall mate, just in case, for example both Zaha and Ogude have reached their peaks (Ogude in his first season with me, and Zaha was already in his peak when I got him).

They're just great players, and they're pretty cheap for their attributes, or I least I think those attributes are ok, they're working for me, that's all I need.

I managed to defeat Manchester City 4-1, but the goal difference was too much compared to how the game felt, it was a great match.

City bought both Wilshere and Song a couple of seasons ago (I think it was 2 seasons ago), the first one freaks me out when he's on the ball, he's always choosing the right thing to do.

Hello !

I already experimented this little problem with 3-4 new young players (random stats).

When we recruit a new young player in the game, and take him in the team, fast, he says he wants a better salary.
So, I accepted and have given to him the wages he hopes.
But, after, he often thinks "he feels unhappy or very unhappy because we are a bad manager".
And his morale is very very low and stay very very low.
Even if we win all the games in the career mode and even if he is always a permanent player,
he is always unhappy.

please, what can we do for make the new young players happy ? (I play in low level).

Do they ACTUALLY play a lot of games? Are you hitting them in the dressing rooms?

I think there are 3 ways to make players happy: by playing them a lot, paying them more money, or praising them with the press (I guess this last one affects very little though)

I only have like 2 youngsters promoted in my team, all the others are in the youth squad, and they're both either content or unhappy 'cause they want to play more. One of them is a CM and I can't afford to play him, he's not good enough to play in the Premier League, I have him available to be loaned but none's made an offer yet.

Maybe someone else has more expertise and can provide a better advice for you.

What do you mean when you say "I play in low level"? The difficulty of the game, or a lower league?

Thanks for your answer !

Yes, they actually play a lot of games : in fact, they play all the games !
Oh no... I don't think to manhandle them... :P

About the wages, I alraidy raised their wages (have increased it by 4) but they still are unhappy.

And about the press, I have tried all the interaction but nothing change.

During the next mercato, i will try again loan them. I already tried once, but they have 16 years and about 54-64 : other teams are not interested.

I play career semi-pro level, in french ligue 1. (My team is Reims french ligue 2 team).

I just lost Ogude for 3 months with a broken rib playing against Aston Villa, struggled the rest of that match, and managed to get a draw against Arsenal in a really nice match, I had 2 opportunities to win but my CM is obviously not a clinical finisher ¬¬

The transfer market is open now, I only have 4.5 million to spend, so I'll have to sell first.

Zuculini, for being a little bitch, and I'll listen to some other offers if they're good.

So I've just started Season 2 of my CM mode with Los Rojiblancos hoping to eventually bring the other half of Madrid some much needed joy and consistency.

First season we missed out on CL and finished 5th which got me a Euro league spot. This year, the expectations are again to get into CL but get this, reach the FINAL of Europa league. A bit of a steep expectation for a cup tournament and one that might I add actually includes a lot of good teams such as Arsenal and a few other 'big' ones who narrowly missed out on CL last year.

I can't complain too much about my group though. I'm paired up with Genk, FC Koln and FC Servette (The weakest Swiss team) whom I'm guessing probably won the Swiss Cup to get there. Nice little diversity there and none of the teams are to be taken lightly but at the same time not at my team's level so if we don't make mistakes, we should go through fairly easily.

TRANSFERS for Season 2

The big changes over summer were departure of star defender, Diego Godin for $22M to Newcastle (His value was $13M and I thought it was a very good offer) and that money plus my transfer budget was spent on our superstar defender, the young, talented and already great but will get even better Mats Hummels whom I broke the bank for and paid $40M and $200K wage to get here and show him the ambition of this Atletico side I'm building.

Gabi left to be yet another Spaniard who joins Liverpool as I no longer needed him with a lot of my CM players like Raul Garcia and Ruben Micael, Koke and Fran Merida who all had been previously loaned out coming back and all being if not as good then younger and with room to get better.

Got rid of some deadwood I hadn't been able to in first season in terms of Nigerian striker Samson Olaleye and young Spanish CB Pulido while loaning out young Koke and Ivan Sanchez along with my two new 16 year olds who I'd promoted from youth team out for loan for another year as they are all Atletico products and might well have a future at this club.

Diego and Pizzi both left the club upon finishing their loan as neither impressed in the opening season and so I decided not to sign them.

Instead, came in Sebastian Larsson from Sunderland for $14M and a hefty $100K wage to bring his 'Crossing' and FK specialties to my team and provide some deadly crosses which is something I was previously missing as my wingers were more the fast/goal scoring type like Reyes/Hulk.

Nigel De Jong had found himself transfer-listed at Man City and at 27 years of age, vast amount of experience and one of the world's best DMFs arguably, I didn't hesitate! $13M to bring him to my midfield to give Enoh some competition and really help out that defense!

Finally, I wanted a different alternative route to attack. Usually I've relied on fast quick nifty 3-man forward line of Reyes - Adrian - Hulk with Falcao competing with Adrian to get his first team place back, but against teams who have a short CB or guys who are big but not very good in the air, I wanted a target man. Someone to help me change my style of play if I needed to bring a fresh approach.

And so in came, Marko Janko. The Austrian strker of FC Twente who was the Golden Boot winner of all of Europe a few years ago scoring something like 36 league goals when he was in Austria with Red Salzburg I think. He's 29 years old. 6""5 tall. 200 pounds and has "Aerial Threat", "Strength", "Poacher" and "Complete Forward" special stars. He's 75 OVR and extremely slow (Speed in 30's) but he will provide exactly what I was looking for in terms of something very different and provide some real competition for Falcao and Adrian who will now need to impress even more.

Having completely gotten rid of the deadwood now by the transfer window of 2nd season, having loaned out some promising youngsers and brought in 4 important players who all have 'special stars' and mroe importantly ones my team was lacking before such as the "Tackling" and "Tactician" ones which both Nigel De Jong and Hummels have or the "Crossing" of Seb Larsson or the finishing strength and aerial power of a true target man, I now am really happy with my squad!

I've got 25 players in it overall which has plenty of depth in it and with 3 competitions to play in and an injury frequence of 99 and 84 for Severity which is what my settings are, fatigue, form and morale, I think all 25 will have to be used and need to provide if we are to be successful in some way. I'm excited about it because my squad really has different 'weapons' to it now and not just players who can provide cover for each other and be substitutes but players who can come off the bench and provide something completely different than the man in the same position they just replaced if strategy needs to be altered.

So I've already found myself subbing in Seb Larsson for Reyes and Janko for the much quicker Adrian/Falcao at times during 2nd half and changed custom settings to high crossing and low passing creation to notice very nice change where Seb Larsson is now providing deadly crosses and Janko is getting on the end of them! :)

Hey

My morale on career mode is very low with my virtual pro and another player- they play a decent amount of games and get OK ratings? Why morale low?

And I recommend buying Michael Wynne. He's a £400K CB with Acceleration and sprint speed over 95.

And Van Persie keeps wanting to leave, even though I just tied him down with two new contracts and he's here for 8 years?

What's their stamina like? Players can get low morale if you carry on playing them when they're knackered and as such burn themselves out. Flamini actively requested not to play for a game or two because he felt he needed a rest. Maybe that could be a reason? Try checking their stamina before a game. Just a thought.

I've just come back to my old CM with Newcastle and halfway through the season I'm bang in mid table. Just ramped it up to World Class and it is HARD. Took a 2-0 loss at home to Man Utd followed by a 3-0 drubbing away to Liverpool. More than held my own until half time but Suarez took me apart in the second half, then Liverpool got right on top of me and I struggled to get out of my own half. Lost the game heavily but it was really enjoyable.

I'm loving the injury sliders set to 95 frequency and kept to 50 for severity. Simpson was running for a loose ball and randomly pulled up with a thigh injury, then poor Best had to go off after jumping with a defender and ended up having his head clobbered by a high trailing leg :P
