Fifa 12 Career Mode Discussions

Yeah agree with that. Morale was low with my team after some poor results and creating chances was tough, players wouldn't break out of their designated positions and get forwards, no matter what tactics I used.

I gradually ground out some results, praised people in the media etc, and confidence improved. I found as their confidence improves, so does their attacking mentality. They now actually break forwards and get into positions to create chances now.

The key is keeping your subs and reserve happy too, and that's tough. Specially when there are always a couple in your squad that act like such a little pricks, man up for christ's sake.

I have a very bad periode in my Arsenal Career Mode now. Lost 3-1 at Anfield with leading goalscorer Carroll and Suarez twice scoring, the goal for me scored Van Persie. I had to take Walcott off after 30 minutes and he is now out for 8 weeks with a dislocated shoulder. After that match I had to play the first leg in the round of 16 in the Champions League at Home against Marseille. Marseille dominated the match all over the way and won 3-1, with Szczesny helping me not to concede more goals. In the last minutes Gervinho got injured and is now out for 3 month with a torned Achilles tendon. Next match was the North London Derby at home against Tottenham and I had to fight hard to reach a 2-2 draw. After that I had to play against Manchester City away in the F.A. Cup and I lost 6-2 with City getting two ridiculous penalties. So finally the second leg against Marseille in Stade Velodrome. After 17 minutes everything was barely over as Vermaelen got a red card for a professional foul. I tried everything I can with ten men and scored the lead with Van Persie but just two minutes later Cheyrou hammered the ball inside the goal from 30 meters out. I still needed two goals to reach the overtime and in the 92. minute I scored the lead with the subbed in Arshavin. I almost got another chance to score with Van Persie shooting from just 11 meters out but Mandanda made an incredible save to bounce me out of all cup competitions :(

you on legendary?

modded sliders or default?

you got some serious beatings there tbh
Yep a lot modded sliders. To be honest I was never beaten that hard really in the season except an away match against Barcelona which is acceptable I think. Don't know what is going on actually, my team feals very weak now, it's very weird, their confidence goes down and the media reported about it. That match against Man City was just pathetic, can't see how I was able to concede 6 goals. Having Gervinho, Gibbs and Walcott out is not very helpful at all, too. Too bad I loaned out Oxlade-Chamberlain for 3 month and Miyaichi is injured for the whole season.

So having low morales makes the players stats reduced and vide versa?

I had my worst forward out of 5, Bangura, (overall 71 i think?) on 100% morale and everytime I played him he couldnt stop scorign, he seemed faster and shots were more accurate and strogner etc...

Next match after those horrible weeks is a 6-1 win at home against Newcastle with Van Persie scoring a hattrick. Can't believe what is going on actually :D

edit:

Following an impressive 1-0 defeat at Goodison Park with Fellaini scoring the win with a header in the 77th minute.

Can't believe it but Szczesny got injured for the second time in training. This time it's a cruciate ligament rupture and he is out for a half year :(

you are playing 5min halfs? lots of goals

I play 8 minutes per half, but you know these were not normal weeks, those results were unexpected. Now everything went normal again.

I have to fight hard now to reach the Champions League qualification place against Everton and Liverpool.

4th Place: Everton (34 games - 66 points - 54:38)
5th Place: Liverpool (35 games - 64 points - 64:31)
6th Place: Arsenal (34 games - 62 points - 65:45)

The next matches

Arsenal

Chelsea (Home)
Stoke City (Away)
Norwich (Home)
West Brom (Away)

Everton

Man United (Away)
Fulham (Home)
Wolverhampton (Away)
Newcastle (Home)

Liverpool

Norwich (Away)
Chelsea (Home)
Swansea (Away)

Third season with Malaga under way. Will play in the CL this season after beating Real Madrid in the last game of the season to secure fourth spot. Lost Lucio who apparently decided to retire without any mention in the press or in the mail :(
Also sold Bounanotte and some fringe players. I have strengthened my defence by buying M'Bia from Marseille and Jose Enrique from Liverpool. I also needed a big striker after letting Nistelrooys contract run out, so bought Dzeko for £20 million. Not sure if it was worth it but time will tell. Atm Vela is on fire so he will have to fight for his place.

Current squad:

GK: Fabianski, Leno
DEF: Gamez, Aurier, Sakho, M'Bia, Demichelis, Roderick Miranda, Kolarov, Enrique
MID: Flamini, Tiote, Xavi Torres, Camacho, Isco, Honda, Iturbe, Dzudzak, Cazorla, Ben Arfa
ST: Dzeko, Vela, Rondon

Who's Leno? Looks like a pretty good squad. Not sure about your goalkeepers though. Probably weakest part of the team?

He plays for Leverkusen. Yes I probably try to sign a better keeper before the transfer window close. I've got about £15 mill more to spend.

Do you guys feel individual players matter that much?

I think key to fifa is moreso about your ability with the controller compared to old Pes when on the master league the individual players you bought determined how well Id do.

For example, on master league id always buy finidi geroge as he was cheap and fast, or a tall striker for headers or a midfeilder with long shots etc....and they made a huge effect on the team.

Though FIFA 12 does have individuality I think that the average players can still play well and do the job if you are good with the controller. Whereas the thing I enjoyed about old PES was that it was far more about the players in your team and who you signed.

For me in FIFA for ecample I have injury so play my overall 69 striker when my 80 overall star striker is off. I still score 2-3 goals with my 69 rated striker.

On old PES this was never case.

I would definitely agree with that. At times it's enough to make me want to play PES but overall Fifa is still more fun to me so I stick with it. Hopefully they nail individuality in 13 but I doubt it.

How does current PES compare on this?

DOes PEs 2012 still maintain the indivudialty and difficutys that old PES had?

If so it makes me want to play master league.

It does spoil FIFA. Especially career mode. Why buy new players when they all pretty much do the job anyway?

my 69 long shot midfliers score long range goals all the time so why even buy Stevie Gerrard? on old pEs a 69 long shot midfleidr couldnt score in a brothel or pee in a stirght line.

my 5'1 Mexican chipalato striker scores headers ever other week so why bother buying a 6'5 forward? on old pes a 5'1 forward better be fast as lighting or hes gonna get munched and crunched the whole game and a 6'5 forwar will dominate the airs and score many headers.

My striker with 65 finishing has scored 35 goals this season so why bother buying Aguero? On old pes a 65 stiker may score some 1v1 easy attempts but Aguero would be banging in all kinds of shots from all angles that the other 65 forward could only dream about doing

etc...etc....

In old Pes you would have to modify your game to the players you had!!!

I have no fast wide players so I use my long range shooting and passing expert in midle of park. Or my team sucks but I have Jan Koller so I will just play long balls. Or I have saviola so I will just knock the ball over the top and through ball all the time. I have jay jay ocahaks so Ill just get the ball to him and dribble all the time etc...etc...

This has never been recapatured since PES5/6? Well tbh I never try other PEs games as the gameplay was so poor I never even played long enough to examine individuality

That's not true though is it, one of the greatest goals I ever scored on PES was me as default ML players versus my friend who used France as he was rubbish at the game and Cellini scored from about 35 yards for me, in PES as in Fifa12 a lower rated player will miss the goal more often than not but they are capable of scoring the spectacular every now and then.

Ronaldo has made a U-turn on being homesick and is happy to stay now. He even signed a new contract, but I think it might eventually bugger up my CM...
I was offering contracts to players who had less than 18 months left on their current ones, and didn't keep an eye on my salary budget. With Ronnie now staying, I wanted to give him a new contract to see if the media came up with any new stories, so offered him £300k p/w (as suggested by the board). I had something like £247k left in the budget, so figured that bumping him up another £50k would be fine, but he wouldn't sign. I didn't realise that his new contract would be the budget (if that makes sense), so was actually offering him a lesser contract of £247k, which was lower than his current deal. I offered him an improved contract, not realising it was actually the same £247k again.
Anyhoo, next thing I know, it's announced that he has signed a new contract, but is now on £247,000,000,000 per week!
I've played a few games since, so technically covered several weeks, but haven't been bankrupted yet. In fact, my transfer budget is still intact (£94m), and the salary budget is now up to £350k. I'm guessing the Spanish king is covering the cost...

In other news, Sahko has also signed a new contract after deciding that he could survive on an extra £40k each week. Then broke his ankle in his first game back from a knee injury! I was planning to sell him and move for Subotic, but the transfer window is 5 weeks away, so will have to keep him for now.
It might also be time for Higuain to go as well as he's constantly injured, and is 5th choice now. In his absence, Llorente has turned into a goal machine, netting 8 goals in 5 games to jump into the top 5 in the scoring chart (behind Pedro, Villa, Ronaldo & Nilmar)

After all that I'm currently unbeaten in all competitions, including being 2 points ahead of Barcelona, so on course for that 1st league title. Just need to stop my strikers picking up so many injuries, especially as my defenders are starting to pick up silly suspensions!

Agree. I've tried taking long shots with my CB and it goes way wide. Flamini will hit the target some times but just as often misses. But a player like Honda is deadly with his shooting.

Same thing up top. Vela is fast and more mobile while Dzeko feel more static but is a great finisher when he get his chance.

One of my CB's Abdoulaye Ba has scored two screamers which were very crucial goals, both times corners of mine that broke down ended with him receiving the ball just outside the box as he's starting to make his way back downfield, he turns, looks up, leathers it into the corner, terrific goals, and countless other times he has turned, leathered the ball, murdered the corner flag ;)

Talking of Abdoulaye Ba, he's very good in the game, young, not too slow for a CB, 6' 6" or something (according to wiki though he's only supposed to be 6' 2").

Yeah agree with this, as a follower of a non league team I see players still manage to score all sorts of spectacular goals. Admittedly they couldn't do this against teams ata higher level but against each other, even non league players can do the spectacular. Recently saw a guy called Jason Walker (who my team stupidly sold off, grrrr) score a scissors kick from outside the area. In FIFA12 he'd probably be rated around 50 or so.

rare very rare. Cellini may score one now and then if yo hit it perfet at right time but t bh you wouldnt wate your tiem attempting wehn you know succes rate was low.
Im only playing career mode with celtic and Im banging in goals from 20-35 yards with players with long shots worse than 65 and players I know in real life could not score from distance.

Anyway I Was oTT with my posts but I think most get the point. Individuality is best in FIFFA than ever befoe but still not as amazing as old PES>

I played old PES from ISS on PS1 through to PES 5 on PS2 and IMO PES' individuality wasn't all that, nor did I feel that teams played particularly differently TBH.

well even when I played for school and other teams at under 15 etc we coudl and had players scorign beckahm like free kiscks and 20-35 yarders etc....just cause player is not world class doesnt mean he cant do it.

I bet even Rio FErdinand can socre 35 yard piledrivrs in training. I guess the best players are the ones who can do it when against best teams and can find space etc? I dunno.

SOmetimes IMO Pes was extreme in its individuality. eg.. Recoba, fat onaldo, saviola, finid george, jay jay ocakaha but it was fun.

Talking about CBs, I bought De Maio, initially to be a sub for my Khumalo-Saunders partnership, but I played him in a friendly and he was huge. I had like 4 or 5 corners in that match, and he won all of them, except the one that he was somewhere else, and the cross was aimed to my ST, Zaha.

I'm gonna have to play him, and test who's gonna be HIS partner, either Khumalo or Saunders.

I'm still at Leeds, I play in Professional since I'm still getting used to FIFA after all my PES years, so I won both the Premier League AND the Champions League (against Barca), I won the Manager of the Season award, awesome.

I expected the big clubs to make an offer for the goddamn Manager of the Season...I check, and what's the best offer? FULHAM, with a smaller transfer budget than what I'd have with Leeds, so I stayed ¬¬

Bought Zaha as my ST (13m on him, my most expensive player yet, so far, so good, he has a nice partnership with Ogude), Cancela-Gonzalez or something like that as my RW (or my LW, I dunno, he's left footed, I have to try what works better, specially since Templeton is AWESOME in the LW being right-footed), Eramo as the CM, De Maio as CB, and Smithies as my GK, btw, he rejected my first contract offers 'cause he said he wanted to be a legend at that club, I had to show him 60.000 Euros for him to accept, but I have no complains at the moment.

Last matchday left and I'm one point behind Everton still fighting for that Champions League place. Very hard weeks, beated Chelsea and scored a last second winner against Stoke City. Hope Everton will drop now points against Newcastle :(

Don't you have your Shot Speed slider above 50? Even on 51 they're rockets.

Yes, yes, fucking yes, Newcastle drew 0-0 against Everton and I won against West Brom and claimed even the 3rd place by overtaking Everton and Man City who lost to Newcastle a few days before. From 5th place to the 3rd at the last matchday, incredible, lovely Toon :BOP:
