Fifa 12 Career Mode Discussions

Speaking of commentary my mate was playing on Halloween and swears the commentators mentioned "there may be ghosts and ghouls about but there's still the matter of a football match to attend to", or something along those lines. Nice!

You mean rather than overall its key attributes that matter.

eg..a centre forwar with rating 70 but 85 strength, pace and accleeration, finishing and shot power but crap at other skills brinign his avearge to 70 will still be an amazing scorer?

Or a winger with lon shot + dribbling+ speed etc
 
Essentially, if his key attributes are good for the role you want him to play then that's more important than Ovr, but sometimes you'll find certain players will simply play better for you in a certain position than other players with even a higher Ovr.

For example Andros Townsend was monster in my Championship season at LW yet in the Premier League he has underperformend and Buttner who is 2-3 Ovr less has been outstanding for me at LW.

Ya i was playing on halloween aswell and the commentator "there may be ghosties and ghoulies about but there is also footballers and footballs and we've got a football match to attend to on halloween"
 
So did they say it when you were playing on Halloween in real life? or when it was Halloween in the game?

Bit weird if it was in real life, as it makes no sense if it was a different date in your career mode?

No they said it when it was actually halloween, in the game it was may some time I think.

I can understand it when you are playing one off exhibition games around those times (not in career mode)that would be good.

but in career mode it is just stupid! unless they said it at the in game date.
 
The game just reads the time and date off your xbox/ps3/pc. It's an easy thing to code in. I remember a Dreamcast game called Lets Get Ready To Rumble, I played it on Christmas day and everyone was wearing Santa hats. Following day, it was back to normal!

as said above game can read your consolse/system clock/date.

Im sure if you redit your in system date to oct 31st you can see if you get it also.

I never though I dotn know if I played on 31st? think i did.

Defo will play on xmas and new years day lol.

Who's your key player in your squad and why?

It should be interesting to read your opinions.

In my case it's Ogude, placed as LCM, and like I said in here, there's a special move in my team to allow him space to get to the box alone.

Too bad that I'm gonna leave Leeds when the season's over, and I don't think I'll bring him with me.

Well my created pro is a striker slim and 5'10 yet in 1st season he score 30+ and win player year, top socrer etc...so he is I guess my key player

BUT wiat for this Id say my key player is.............Ki!!!!


lmao key playe Ki...IM celtic btw and Ki is korean central midfeilder he is tall and strong and has skills in long range shooting and long range passing. In 30+ games he scored like 12 and 15 assists and high average rating. He is hard to kcok off the ball, wins the ball well and can score screamers from distance.

Gary Hooper also is lethal in the box and scored plenty so was also a good player for me.

But apart from my pro SKi Sung Yeoung.

Is it normal for your PRo to become so good so fast. I notice in FIFA 11 also after half a season my PRo was already becoming my star player.


just FYI i edited leagues and put Celtic in the Npower championship. I won league and League cup and am now in Premiership in my 2nd season.

Players bought.

Danny Welbek 12mil

I also have on loan this and last season Moritz Leitner from Dortumnd who is a good player.

now hes about 10mil.

Izaguerre is 10mil also lol.

Kayal is also a very good player in the game.

I took a leaf out of your book and bought ogude for my west ham team and gave him liscence to roam and hes scored 8 goals in my first ten games four of which were against "top four" sides.

How do you give someone "liscence to roam" in this game? I'm tired of team mates standing still doing nothing even tough they have high offensive workrate. Must find something new and exciting like this before I get really bored. In my second season I'm not really spotting differences between teams any more. Its Barca, Real and the rest.
 
Not exactly what you're looking for but if you set your team to "Free Form" instead of "Organized", then ALL players at least attacking ones have much more freedom to roam around and play less restricted but of course also defensively less disciplined and more likely to be out of position.

This is in the custom tactics tab and you have an option of selecting it for attacking in the final 1/3rd of the field or throughout the whole pitch even for 'build-up' play. I usually use it only in the final 1/3rd while maintaining 'organized' in build up play.

Give that a try if your team isn't already on that setting. It does open things up more and helps you play a more attractive free flowing type of football.

Yes I´ve tried that. Can´t spot any massive difference to be honest. Maybe it´s down to player attributes or something. The last days have been absolutely terrible from my side. I can barely defend any more and I´m really struggling to score goals. I´ve tried numerous of different formations, workrate and arrows but can´t seem to get the team to click. What formations are you guys using to get the best out of your team?
 
Well remember all teams go through bad forms, don't take it too seriously, it'll pass. :)

At some point in the season, this is normal to happen.

What about your 'chance' creation passing? Is that high? I play with fast forwards (Especially since Adrian replaced Falcao as my starting ST which says a lot because he's a 75 and Falcao is 86 with lots of special stars and a beast, nonetheless, in this game form does count for a lot as it should in real life and after some very good performances by the former and some poor ones by the latter, I dare say Adrian is now my #1 choice forward and he starts at least every other game) , and fast wingers like Reyes and Hulk and so I put the chance creation passing (So players make TONS of runs in the final 1/3rd (of course you have the sliders too to adjust don't forget). I put them at 85 at times s I don't have that problem.

What's your rating on chance creation? 85 passing, low crossing and 60's shooting along with free form does what I want.
 
It's also down to individual players....more so than the tactics imo.

Downing hardly gets forward for me, making very few runs in to space, whereas if I play Maxi he will get in good positions. Henderson or Gerrard also makes a huge difference, whenever Gerrard plays a pass he is always moving forward in to space looking for a return (without 1-2 button combo's or anything, just by himself) whereas Henderson will keep his position and make himself available for a return pass by moving backwards. Same on the right with Johnson and Kelly. Kelly will keep on the defensive side whilst Johnson runs like a madman forward, even cutting inside.

So I would look more into your players and their stats if the tactics don't help.

I think I have put all the attacking ratings at 100.

The question is what attributes you should be looking for. What makes Maxi make those runs but not Downing for example?

Has anyone come to grips with how to make the CPU stop making those light speed fast turns? It's damn near impossible to defend against. I stand back, hold jockey and try to time my tackles, but every time they just spin around me and are free with the keeper. I have conceded 5 of those goals in the last 3 games. I'm thinking of lowering their speed to 40 or something but it feel like cheating...

My Leeds has Free Form and what I notice the most is my wingers swap positions with my ST, mostly my LW, it's kinda weird, but as long as I don't fall into a bad form state like you guys said I won't be changing it, and like I said a million times, I'm gonna leave Leeds when the season ends.

I have Becchio and McCormack as my options, they're both VERY different, the first one's tall, slow, strong, left-footed, and the other one is short, fast, right-footed, I rotate them a lot and even if Becchio's behind Pato only by 2 goals in the top goalscorers, I find it hard to say who really is the first choice.

What I do know is that I'm gonna need a good complete striker next season, no matter what club I go, 'cause they both lack some stuff that I need, and I can't get them to fuse, it's like this:

Whopped my chance creation passing up to 86 and it worked a charm :) Thanks for the tip!

But I guess it was a form thing as well. The last games my team seem to be in great form. My CB's are no longer losing 50/50's and are strong as never before and my attackers are skipping past players with ease. It really is a totally different game when they are able to play like this. You really must give credit to EA for making the effects of form this obvious.
 
Yeah agree with that. Morale was low with my team after some poor results and creating chances was tough, players wouldn't break out of their designated positions and get forwards, no matter what tactics I used.

I gradually ground out some results, praised people in the media etc, and confidence improved. I found as their confidence improves, so does their attacking mentality. They now actually break forwards and get into positions to create chances now.
