Fifa 12 Career Mode Discussions

This is the actual situation in my Arsenal career mode in the first year
in the Premier League and the Champions League last sixteen. Off course
I play the PC Version, that's why I can play in Champions League in the
first year ;) Carroll is going mad!

I know. But it is supposed to be the representation of CL in real life. So the rules should be the same and if two German teams were in same group, that's messed up. Like I said, I haven't noticed that myself though so good for now. :)

Is it any more or less messed up than signing a player in January who already played in the FA Cup and they can still play in the FA Cup for your team? Or signing a player on loan from Man Utd and he can play against Man Utd, for example, there's loads of little stuff that's not accurately simulated because it's a very simple mode in terms of what rules it follows.

Hi folks - new to this forum and Fifa.

I bought the game a couple of weeks ago and am enjoying it at the moment simply playing a few exhibition matches to find my feet. I have always played PES so getting used to the controls is taking a little time.

Anyhow - i have a question. I have enjoyed reading all of these Career Mode impressions and am keen to give it a go myself. However can someone explain to me the different options that are available. I understand that I can be a Manager, Player or Player Manager. What are the differences in these modes - do i get to play the matches in all three or am i simply 'managing' in the manager option?

Any help would be appreciated - thanks

Im also new in playing fifa, i love it and i also played pes last few years.
I dont start the career because after 3-4 weeks of playing on professional I still cant manage to be ,,good'' - I mean to beat with barca osasuna 3-0 or just win with top team with lower class team like 2-0 or 4-1 lets say.
I think begining of career is ok for players experienced on profesional level because when you will lose everything you can start to hate this game. For now I love this game because its so realistic and I still lose and learn (new skills, new knowledge, etc.). I also know that I will love it for long time when I will be better, start career and see real life in FIFA12.

One more thing: when you try to play on level lower than professional (which make also the game less realistic because CPU defenders behave like idiots) or changing sliders in game it is killing of FIFA, game is not the same any more and you are not sure if you are good or not ;P

Damn that's messed up!

The groups are fine in the CL in my CM mode right now though. I had a look at them myself. The Europa league ones are fine too.

p.s. I told you that Germany gets 3 CL places a week ago or so, my bad, I'd forgotten things have changed and it's Italy that gets 3 while Germany gets 4 CL ones. That's why Schalke is in there. Of course you made a good decision staying with Malaga nonetheless. ;)

Haha no worries :) I don't regret staying at Malaga. But I might leave after this season depending on the offers I get.

Hi, im new here
I think fifa 12 career mode is pretty good, definatley getting there but im still annoyed by some of the stupid little bugs.
Today ive realised that at the end of a season, you get some prize money for the season but once you start the new season with the same club, this money and any other left over money rom the previous season vanishes. you do get some more money next season but you could have a lot more. for example i end the season with 6 mil and then get 6 mil the next season, should have 21mil but i only have 16mil, maybe a bit picky but its still annoying.
Anyone else realised this?!

You can change the controls to more PES-like controls in the controller options menu option. I always swap it over to full PES controls (square for shoot, circle for cross etc) and R1 for sprint.

Also, if you pick the player manager option in Career Mode you get the option of playing Be A Pro-style (BaL in PES terms) as your Virtual pro. You can choose to do that or just play as normal controlling all 11 players, from game to game - you don't have to commit to one or the other. You might as well start with that option. It's a great feature that I'd love to see PES steal for Master League.

Clubs, I am dissapoint.

After an amazing end of the season with Leeds, managing to snatch Man Utd's 2nd place in the last game since they drew their match and I won mine, also winning the Community Shield when the season began, and finally winning the FA Cup against Chelsea after an epic match where 90 minutes couldn't decide a winner, or even open the score.

So I logically had high expectations on the club offers for the following season, I was expecting to move to Spain, starting with a middle team club, and move up from there.

NO. Bolton (with a lot of players over 32 years old), Swansea, Birmingham, a couple of little german clubs, and either Deportivo la Coruña, Rayo Vallecano, or Valladolid (depending on the attempt of loading the CM before the season ends, I did it like 10 times).

Leeds was still the best choice specially since I knew that 37 million were expecting me to improve my squad, so I guess we'll go into the 2014/2015 season with them.

Btw checking how the new season would be with Leeds (the transfer budget like I said, and the squad's ages and midfield, since McEachran's loan is over and he's back to Chelsea), I went into the transfer market, to check things out, and I found a player called Fegor Ogude, from Valerenga, with INCREDIBLY HIGH stats and worth about 8.500.000, does anyone know him?

I'll keep you guys posted with the new season transfers and stuff.

Finished my 2nd season in charge of Liverpool and managed to keep my job by the skin of my teeth. The feeling I got from the board at the end of this season is that if I fail to win the league next season, it would be goodbye. I ended up finishing in 4th place after some disappointing draws against weaker teams in the Premier League left me off the pace. One positive is, is that it was Chelsea that war eventual League Champions and not Manchester United. The Top 4 in season 2 of my career mode were: Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool which is a strong representation for the Champions Cup and hopefully one of those teams can pip Barcelona to the title. I will also have to take the Champions Cup more seriously this year as I would like to win my group to avoid having to play a big team in the round of 16, unlike what I did in season 2 were I finished 2nd in my group and got knocked out to Barcelona in the round of 16. The board also want me to win a domestic cup, and I feel I will go for the Carling Cup as I normally get a good draw in the Carling Cup and if I take it more seriously than I did last year, I should win it. I will be looking in the market to bring in a good quality centre-back to partner Pique and have Carragher in the reserves.

Let's work those 37.

Here's what I did with the transfer budget this season:

IN:

[Name - Position - Overall - Worth]

- Ogude - CAM - 80 - 8.500.000
- Zuculini - CDM - 76 - 4.900.000
- Saunders - CB - 75 - 2.800.000
- Ilicevic - LM - 80 - 8.250.000
- Hateley - CDM - 77 - 5.000.000
- Taylor - LB - 77 - 4.600.000 (I don't remember his first name, but he's not famous)
- Ngcongca - RB - 75 - 3.500.000
- Templeton - LW - 80 - 9.500.000

OUT:

- Ryazantsev - 8.000.000 (he's 80 overall but he wasn't performing properly, and those 8 million tempted me to transfer list him)
- Somma - 1.800.000
- Ivan Fauria - 1.200.000 (a youngster brought by the scouts)
- Sergio Perez - 700.000
- Devitt - Full season LOAN (another youngster)

Ogude is a complete beast physically, so I adjusted my formation a bit to create a mechanism that would allow him to get to the box a lot, it's easier to see (and to perform) when my RW has the ball, the RCM offers himself to receive, the ST (Becchio) moves between the opposition's LCB and LB (this is obviously the key), and the RCB has to move a bit to the center to keep him guarded, that creates a gap there for Ogude's run, and even my LW has a lot of space.

So it's RW, ball to the RCM or to the ST, through ball to Ogude.

He's scored 2 goals so far in the season, and another 2 in the friendlies.

Makes me proud of my managing skills :SMUG: :P

Plus Becchio's still in goal-scoring-rmachine mode :BOP:

What formation do you guys use? Anyone specially good for creating chances? All my players are just standing still atm. It feels like every chance I manage to create is the same, pass to the striker, turn around and shoot. Getting pretty dull...
I don't really dare altering with custom formations because of the bugs people have experienced.

- Ngcongca - RB - 75 - 3.500.000

Also signed him for my Sheffield Wednesday team, very good player, quick, good stamina, very useful he can play in a number of roles, has covered at CDM for me this season, was sent off in the Euro league and got a 2 match ban, but I'll forgive him ;)

It depends on your players man, I'm using a modified 4-3-3 because I have the players for that kind of system, and it fits me.

You should check your squad, but REALLY check it, and then think of how you could use your best players in an effective way.

And what bugs? I've messed with my formation a lot and everything works properly, the attacking arrows and such.

How much did you pay for him? :PP

I'm going to use him as RB, the CDM position is covered, even if my starting CDM is injured right now, he'll be back in 3 weeks.

I don't use my side backs to attack too much, but I need them to be fast to defend any counter-attacks.

Do you get a lot of yellow cards and stuff? So far none of my players has been suspended, it's kind of weird to be honest.

I paid £2.15m for him in 2014, his estimated worth was £1.8m so I thought it was a good price :)

I use my fullbacks a lot as they get forward very well, my midfield is two holding DMs so it helps the fullbacks have the freedom to get forward.

No I very rarely get bookings and almost never get player's sent off, his red card was an out of frustration lunging slide tackle for a second yellow when I was already 3-1 down to Valencia near the end of the match, only seen two AI players get sent off, Terry for a last man straight red and another player for two bookings, but then we all know that the AI is nowhere near aggressive enough in the tackle sadly.

Started a career with Real Madrid. I absolutely hate how teams like Osasuna, Zaragoza, etc are so skillfull, though. Really, really annoying. So I can't play on World Class, have to be putting down the difficulty to Professional, because Zaragoza are apparently Barcelona by nature on this game.

Anyways, some of the transfers are really head scratching too, as talked about already in this thread. Lionel Messi wants to leave Barcelona, for a start. Nani signed for Tottenham, and Rooney for Manchester City. Apart from these gripes that I have, I am genuinely loving the game.

EDIT: Yep, Messi signs for Manchester City..for a whopping 107 million!

Quick update on my Real Madrid Season 3:

The swash-buckling playing style is starting to come together finally (using 4-2-2-2). First 2 games of the season were 0-0 draws, but they weren't boring... I just couldn't score.
Since then I've won 4 league games (4-0, 1-5, 6-0, 0-1) & drew 1-1 with Barca at the Nou Camp. Neymar & Llorente seem to have found their scoring boots after a slow first season, with Gotze, Alonso & Honda making things tick.
One downside is that the media are starting to report that Ronaldo may be homesick. Portugal must be further from Spain than I thought!
Hopefully I can persuade him to stay if he does ask to leave...

I think I'm getting the hang of defending finally! After struggling through the opening games in previous seasons (maybe because of form/morale?) I've managed to stay unbeaten so far in the league & CL. Did have a bit of a scare against Galatasaray, but came back from 0-2 to win 3-2...
My new German CB (can't remember his name, but will edit later) put in a great last ditch tackle in his debut in the Super Cup thing against Man City. I was 2-0 up, but didn't want to give them any hope. And it was 2v1 :)

One last thing... Villarreal are the latest club about to be taken over. Not sure if a takeover each season for one league is necessary, but they'll be joining Sporting Gijon & Bilbao (which seems a bit pointless considering their real life transfer policy).

Anyone notice how bad the AI is at noticing speed deficiencies on their teams? Chelsea are really easy to play against 3 seasons in as their left flank contains Cole and Malouda who have both aged really badly and now have speed/accel at something like 50-55, they're still highly rated players however because of their technical abilities so the AI hasn't seen fit to replace them.

Thanks for the reply - I am going to give it a crack as a Player-Manager as you suggested.

I see. Aurier is very promising apparently in real life and rated highly. Haven't had the pleasure of seeing him play myself yet though.

Yeah I really like that as well. I like Tiote a lot but I'm an even bigger fan of Jeremy. So unless he performs poorly for me (Perhaps his performances in 1st season were mediocre for you?) I wouldn't sell him. I think he's a very accomplished player and still has many great years ahead of him yet so vastly experienced already.

Just had a look at the lists at fifa-fanatic and apparently Auriers potential is only 74 :S Maybe not one for the future after all.

My form in the league is horrible atm. I have drawn four games in a row and can barely score. I'm conceding shitty goals in the last minute. Really need to shape up if I'm gonna get that CL-spot!

What exactly is it that affects your players form and moral? They shift from game to game for no apparent reason.

is your club able to be bought in manager mode because im managing southend united and have got them from league 2 to champioship without buying players only on loan and ill need money to stay in champ. ive seen other clubs been bought.

No, AI only can be taken-over. Buying then reselling free transfers and/or investing in youth players to sell on is a good way to raise capital.

That's really weird. In my CM they've kept Ashley Cole too and he's getting slower indeed (Malouda is in Bolton, and he's not a regular starter), I already played against them twice this season and managed to beat him a lot, and easy, now that I think about it. I didn't notice when I was playing since I ALWAYS use speed in that flank.

They're giving van Aanholt a lot of minutes though, but he seems to have some mentality issues, 'cause he gets distracted sometimes and gives me a lot of space on the counter attacks.

You should check the reason of those shitty goals, and try to fix that, changing the way you defend or something.

My form this season is INCREDIBLE, to the point that I haven't lost a single match, and I've played like 18 games.

I'm at the top obviously, with a bit of difference since the first 5 matches were all against the big clubs and defeated them, so I can afford rotating players, to keep everyone satisfied and their morales high (or at least in the yellow zone, past the middle of that bar thingy).

I'm hoping this form continues, in all my previous season I had ups and downs, but everyone's been great so far. I even won the Manager of the Month a couple of "weeks" ago.

But if say Real Madrid (not that they need it lol) get taken-over in 2014, and you get an offer to manage them in 2015, they'd still have that money "boost" there, right?

Last season I finished 7th in the prem (losing finalist in the FA cup), but I relied far too much on the loan to buy cheat (IMO that's what it is) and think I had something like 15 players on loan, this season I was determined to build a squad of players I own, even though my squad is now a bit weaker than last season, one of the early success stories is Víctor Ibarbo who I think I bought for something like £2.8m and he's already gone up 1 point and added about £1m to his value, plays in the hole behind my sole striker (Babacar on loan to buy but I will pay it this time I swear!) and Victor has scored a number of goals as well as a few assists.

Talking of Babacar he was rated at £5m, I agreed a loan to buy of £5.5m and he's now already rated at £9.5m after a great start to the season, just hope his parent club don't renege on the deal at the end of the season!

One would assume so yes.

If you could get him for 5.5 that'd be amazing, have you actually paid any of those loans before? All the loan deals I had were simple ones, no transfer fee agreed at all, and I could never get them after that, they were too expensive when I returned them, compared to what I could get in the market for that money. (McEachran for example, worth 11.5, got Ogude for a lot less and he's a beast like I said)

I didn't purchase any of the loan to buys last season as they weren't showing good value for money at the time, with Babacar I had already negotiated a £5m purchase of him this season but realised that if I spent that on him (out of my budget of £22m) it would leave me really light squad wise, so I cancelled the straight purchase for £5m and instead offered a loan to buy of £5.5m which fortunately was accepted, so as long as I make enough prize money (or transfer sales in January) I will buy him at the end of the season for £5.5m (assuming his club doesn't back out).

You call 15m cheap? My record transfer so far is 9.5m Euros for Ogude, totally worth it, but I suffered like a little bitch to see all that money going with one player. Oh and I did the same with Templeton but I was ok with spending that much since I had money from selling Ryazantsev.

I've got a site in my computer with players growth and stuff, I'm at work now and I can't find it (if you want I'll post it when I get there...TOMORROW), but you should just search for young players, you'll discover a lot of hidden gems out there.
